“Myself and my two friends were in Galiano and ate lunch at Babes. We had the blackened chicken quesadilla with rice and salad. We loved it - it was SO tasty!! Highly recommend!”

“Unbelievable experience from top to bottom. Pacing of the courses was great. Service was exceptional, felt casual and light but we always had everything we needed and the evening flowed very well, as a former server I recognize how hard it is to make this look easy!

Food was amazing and I loved how the meal evolved, from the snack courses that used a lot of ferments to the richer savoury courses to the amazing deserts the highlight of which was a tart heaped with shaved hazelnut everything was excellent. Perfect amount of food, I appreciate the suggestion to pack up the pizza course as I think if we ate the whole thing that might have pushed it into too much food territory but with only having half it was a perfect amount.

Wine pairings were great although personally I am not a fan of some of the more funky natural wines that were on offer but still enjoyed what we drank quite a bit as there was enough variation between glasses to keep it interesting.

Overall probably the best dining experience I've had in Canada and one of the best I've had in the world.

“Spicy Humboldt Squid… that’s all I can say. Fantastic concoction and our server Autumn’s recommendation to get more bread to make sure we got the best of the dish was spot on. I had the goat cheese chicken and my taste buds were in a constant state of euphoria. My other table mates had the flat iron steak and the tagliatelle chicken and the portions were more than we can handle (in a good way). We went during the slow season so our server was busy doing pretty much everything, but we weren’t in a rush and she happily accommodated us when we were hoping to snag a table closer to the window once it opened up. In our humbolt opinion, visit this restaurant for a great experience, great view, and great service.”

“I have travelled far and wide, and my belly is evidence I have tasted many a sandwich in my day… and I can tell you without hesitation, this is one of the best pork sandwiches available.

It would hold its own against any big city sandwich shop. Everything down to the bread tastes, and is probably made in house. The pork is tender and falls apart and comes in a slab (no mystery meat or fillers here) and the bread is the proper, soft and cusiony inside and hard and crusty on the outside.

Do yourself a favour sit down and stay a while. Hell, have two or try a muffin.”

“Today we tried the cinnamon twists, jalapeno and cheese criossants, and their breakfast sandwiches. absolutely amazing. The only downside to this visit, is that I won't be able to have more and try their other delicious looking bakery items until I return to Salt Spring. Their staff were also amazing and very good on handwashing between duties. I highly recommended this bakery!”

“Today I had an amazing Chicken salad BLT wrap, and it was the most delicous wrap i have ever had!! The sides were great too, pesto pasta and asian noodles. “This is my favourite spot to eat on Saltspring I always have a hectic day there towing and I come in famished and they seat me right away and feed me real good. “Final supper on the island before our journey back to the prairies. This supper was memorable. Large portions, great seafood linguine, good chowder, fish and chips and the shrimp platter. “I love Salt spring Coffee, I drink it everyday at home. Stopped in to the cafe on my way to the ferry and I told the cashier that I wanted a coffee, muffin and a roasted veg egg white bite as I pointed to it in the display case. Somehow I didn’t realize how much my bill was when I tapped my card - and ended up waiting over 10 minutes for the girl to hand me a to-go container that had a full eggs Benedict meal with hash browns. I didn’t have time to return it as I was almost late for the ferry and checked my card later that was charged $34 for a meal that I didn’t order or eat. Im confused how the cashier misunderstood my order as I pointed to it in the display case and the full dine-in breakfast menu is in a completely different spot. I know it’s difficult with masks to understand people right now, so maybe training your staff to repeat the order if they are unsure because people have allergies and it’s so disappointing when you are commuting to work and don’t get to eat breakfast!! :(”
