“The staff is so disrespectful! We arrived at this place around 12:35pm and the hostess said they would have a 35 min wait list. We said ok, got our names in the wait list and left. After 35 min I came back for a time check and the hostess said more 30 min wait. We have a toddler and 1 hour wait would be too much for the toddler. I asked to talk to the manager but the hostess said there was no manager on duty that day. I insisted since that wouldn't make any sense. After begging to talk to the person in charge, finally someone showed up. The manager was even more disrespectful than the hostess - she kept this ironic smile all the time and said that the hostess removed our names from the list by mistake but nothing could be done, not even offer us the top of the wait list and we had to go to the bottom of the list again. She also said they were doing the best they could - I left without saying a word since keep discussing was just pointless - when I walk out the door I just heard "and please don't come back". Just don't come here.“

“We went for brunch last Sunday and I have to say, the food was fantastic! The scrambled eggs were honestly the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The bacon was nice and thick, the sourdough toast was delicious, and the bottomless cappuccinos were a great bonus. With the newly completed renovations, it’s also a bright, welcoming space that makes for a lovely place to enjoy brunch. We’ll definitely be back!“

Pros: it's in a more convenient location instead of in rail town

Overall everything is just more expensive even though that's very much expected. We might have gone a few times a year before but now will probably go one time a year or less. Or if we happen to be in the area (not very often).

“Came here about three weeks ago for dinner and it did NOT disappoint! 🤤 I tried the stone-grilled beef, sashimi, and aburi sushi, and everything was so delicious. The yuzu soda was also sooo good — definitely recommend getting it! 🍋

“This place is truly a hidden gem, tucked away just beside Robson Street, and surprisingly, not many people know about it.

The first time I visited was back in 1999, and it was an unforgettable experience—one that has stayed with me ever since. The moment you walk into the restaurant, you can immediately feel a different kind of vibe. Every staff member warmly greets customers as they arrive and even as they leave, which makes you feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated.

The food is delicious and always leaves you wanting to come back for more. I’ve been coming here since 1999, and whenever I’m in the area, I always try to stop by. After all these years, the great food, friendly service, and wonderful atmosphere have never disappointed me.

“We had such a great time. The service was excellent. Both our waitresses were lovely, smiling and so attentive.
The place is quite unassuming and it looks a bit rundown, but once you look past that, the experience is fabulous.

I ordered the peanut butter cup milkshake and that was delicious! It came with cream and a cup with the leftover that couldn’t fit in the glass. For food, I ordered the mangled eggs which is a croissant stuffed with scrambled eggs. OMG! This was yuuuuuuuuum!

“First time for us, attended a private function. Food was delicious and filling. The service was outstanding and extremely attentive. They had a vast array of sake and after ordering the sake flight (sampler tray), we found a few options that we really liked and ordered a couple of bottles. The sashimi was very fresh and delicious. There was an assortment of dishes that we tried that were on par with many of the high end restaurants, such as the egg omelet with crab ankake and the BBQ eel Unagi rice bowl. Street parking was easy to find. We’d definitely come back to Hashigo Sake Bar.“
