“The number of authentic Chinese food where I live in the states is a rather sad amount, hence why we drive for a while to a whole different country for some hella authentic food.
Been going here for many years, quality has never changed; definitely the go-to spot for Dim Sum. Sure, there might be runner-ups, but their vibes just aren't the same.
Atmosphere: see, what I mean by vibes are the carts that wheel the Dim Sum by, the long wait lines (you got people lining up even at three or four o'clock), and the owner somehow managing to bid a customer goodbye, take an order, and holler out a name for the next person up in line to come on up.
Service: ooh, might I also mention, best to call in and reserve a spot ahead of time. That might cut down your wait time from half to one hour to the five to fifteen minutes I usually have to wait. Since it's so busy, do expect a slight delay in service if you want to order something specific or get your tea refilled. It's alright, it's understandable. Oh, also, they do take extra requests! For example, my family and I don't like stuff too heavy on salt or oil, so we asked if we could get the fried beef noodles (干炒牛河粉) with less salt and oil, it did come waaay lighter. Thanks!
Food: now... if I were to write down every single food and my corresponding rating, I might hit the review character limit... just trust me on this! You can't go wrong with anything, so whether you're looking for an authentic vibe and experience or you have zero idea what to try, you really can't go wrong! Everything's amazing.
There's a reason there are thousands of reviews of this place, and I know many restaurants that have hiked up prices or lowered their quality after getting a bit more popular. In my experience, the food quality has pretty much stayed the same. Commendable!
Is it worth driving over three hours just to here? Yup, it is.“
“- family run business - was highly recommended to this place and only ate there after the 2nd visit as lineup was too long - a food court place with just a few eateries in the Admiralty centre in Richmond - famed for wonton noodle , hainan chicken rice and hk style milk tea and iced lemon tea - there’s also crispy Chinese donut (油炸鬼&牛俐蘇) in the next stall - wonton noodle was crisp, springy and not soft and mushy and good size of wonton wrapped in shrimp and pork ) soup based was commendable - chicken is tender and the portion fairly sized - hainan chicken can be ordered in a set with rice , Chinese green - combination sets range from $11 with a drink - deep fried crisp fish skin is also a must try - was told that family sometime closes for trips - only stall in there with a lineup - very reasonably priced - we bought the deep fried fish skin home for the rest of the family to try and it was still tasty and crisp in the evening“

“Wow the food is fantastic. It was very difficult to decide on what to try. I ended up with the “hot & sour dumpling soup” and the “beef slice in Chinese pancake.” Both are a must try.“

“A nice big high ceilings and big windows Chinese restaurant. It's good enough for a dim sum lunch and dinner since the place is comfortable and roomy. It's a good Chinese restaurant if you are meeting your friends and family since it's comfortable and not noise.
They offer 20% off for the dim sum and free tea in the morning until 11am Monday to Friday. This is a good deal if you can go in the morning. There are plenty of free parking too.
Since the restaurant is big, sometimes you may find no enough staff there.
The price is reasonable and food is quite good. They have some promotion combo and special price in lunch time.
If you are in this area, you can try it once.“

“Tried their New York style chicken rice bento and their Japanese style Tokyo Charsiu rice bento. Both tasted wholesome and reminiscent of home cooking. Good presentation for the takeout. Discovered them on Chowbus. Good value for the price and the owner appeared friendly when I picked up the food. Good portions, food tasted good, and the meat was good quality. Only drawback I found was the rice was kinda dry and on the harder side.“

“We usually come here for dinner. It was our first time thing their brunch. Highly recommend trying their xiao long bao and sesame chicken noodles for brunch. We got our fave dong bo Rou as well 😆 didn’t think that would be available for lunch but it is so we ordered it. I love that the sauce is slightly sweet and the meat ks super tender. Remember to order their mapo tofu. It’s only $3.95 and it’s not a typo 😉“
“They have excellent frozen dimsum. Hargau, xiao long bao and beef balls are my favorites. Hargau here has bamboo shoots. This place has the distinction of being Vancouver's first frozen dimsum outlet. They used to be called Happy Family Dimsum. Xiao long bao and hargau are almost an art form. The recipe changes depending on the weather and season or they disintegrate. The other excellent dimsum place Delicious Dimsum is owned by his cousin.“

“We visited this great cafe and were not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. We ordered and a salmon and eggs benny, americano, hot chocolate. The experience was excellent. I’d definitely recommend the cafe to everyone including those OUAT fans.“

“This Shanghai restaurant is really authentic. XLB were juicy, the duck very intense in flavors and the fish also yummy. Dandan mian were a bit too soft for our taste but amazing taste. Portions were huge so that we couldn’t finish everything but overall I would give this place a 4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My most favorite fish were the Shanghai noodles 🤫“

“What a truly spectacular dinner! Our alumnae association's day of recollection concluded with the perfect finale, thanks to the fabulous food and impeccable service at Fisherman’s Terrace in Richmond's Aberdeen Centre. A special thanks goes to the maître d', Simon, for curating an unforgettable menu and his assistant, Susana, for expertly handling the seating arrangements for our party of nearly 60.
The meal was a journey of delightful surprises, starting with the Peking duck appetizer that had our U.S. guests convinced it was the highlight of the night. But each subsequent dish somehow raised the bar even higher. The lobster noodle dish was outstanding, and the fried chicken was a revelation—who knew it could be such a special dish?
Our server, Candy, also deserves a special mention. She was incredibly efficient, handling our large group with remarkable calm and courtesy. Her unflappable service was a key part of what made the evening so seamless.
We left feeling grateful for a truly memorable experience and a fitting end to a day that fed both the body and the spirit.“

“This is a great place for real authentic Cantonese food. It’s getting harder to find restaurants like these that serve Cantonese food like this. The service is very good and I highly recommend for dim sum and dinner. Be sure to try and park on 2nd floor of parkade to avoid the stairs as the elevators do not work…“

“3.x Something Rating? That's so misleading! Are you coming for a Michelin star meal (Service and ambiance counts for most of the rating)? Or an amazing Shanghainese Restaurant?
If you're here for authentic food that's actually second to none you've found a Shanghainese gem. Selfishness hopes that you all don't really digest my review. They don't have that many tables and I would like to make sure mine is still available 😜
So, if you like Din Tai Fung (Shanghainese eatery started in Taiwan and the most popular Chinese restaurant chain in the world). This restaurant will put them to shame. It's not even close. Sorry DTF!
I do appreciate the masks! They wear masks when preparing and delivering my food. Their menu is also vastly expanded vs their old main street location. So what I guess what I'm saying is to enjoy their food but don't take my seat 😀“

“Dim sum in bamboo trays on the average-to-low end. In contrast, high quality made to the order lunch dishes.
Ginger chicken steamed bun: 3 pc, small size, dough a little soggy, guessing they steam up factory made frozen buns.
Cod fish maw & vegetable in oyster sauce : Very tasty and good portion for the 3 of us!
Rolled rice sheet with fish filling : great! Unlike the more common choice of rolled rice sheet with fish paste, this dish has fish pieces and no deep frying involved.
Fried rice with diced chicken and salted fish: Great! Good portion.
Overall, I have reservation on the quality of their bamboo tray steamed dim sum. I appreciate the flavour in their made-to-the-order items. I had dinner here on the past and I remember it was very flavourful, and they have very attentive servers.“
“Very delicious Chinese chives dumplings(韭菜盒子) - extra large in size with al dente wrappings Lam fried. We liked it so much we even bought some frozen ones to enjoy at home. Lots of variations to select from. We saw many people coming in to buy the frozen dumplings this afternoon. Owner speaks English and Mandarin. Very authentic stuff!“

“Had dinner here twice last week while visiting Richmond, everything we had was awesome, no wonder the place looks so busy everytime we drove by. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion, service was friendly, fast and efficient, hard to find in chinese restaurants, Wish you would open a branch here in Calgary.“

“They're kinda funny at the hostess area.
"Just wait here" then they walk away 2 minutes later... stop, turn around and look at us; "hey, follow me here. " They're abrupt, not rude, just getting the job done.
Food was great“

“The string beans: very good, flavorful and large portion.
The jellyfish appetizer: good flavor but most prices are the thick part of the jellyfish, not the crunchy thin part.
The salt and pepper softshell crab: not impressed with the flavor, also the crab was already soggy when brought to the table.“

“We enjoyed a tasty dinner on a Friday night. The food was pretty good. We ordered sweet and sour pork, egg white with crab on broccoli, shredded chicken, and tofu pot with seafood. The rice bowl portion was pretty big! We had the complimentary red bean soup dessert too.
Service was good and it was very quiet on a weeknight. Lots of parking in this mall as well.“

“I don't know why there are such bad reviews. It is a typical HK cafe. The selection is plentiful but we usually come here for breakfast (i.e., rice rolls, congee, eggs, pineapple bun, etc.). The restaurant is small and could probably be tidier but as I said before, it's a typical HK cafe. The rice rolls are delicious with lots of different choices in toppings. I've been back a few times and will continue to come back!“

“It was alright. Overall an okay dim sum experience, the 20% off if you order before 11 am really helped. Everything tasted just a little bland, like not quite sweet enough, not quite salty enough. The ham siu gok is crispy-ish on the outside, but just not quite enough. The meat inside isn't quite sweet or salty enough. It was okay but I'd prefer another dim sum place if we're talking the same price point.“

“This original sea harbour location was located on number 3 road across from yaohan. Sea harbour is known for luxurious Chinese fine dining. They had also won awards and their culinary team is very elite. I decided to have dimsum here when their doors open.
The dining room is extremely luxurious and eye popping. Service here is absolutely amazing. I loved their menu because they have items that alot of other traditional dim sum places don't offer. I really enjoyed their sticky wild rice wrap. The texture is lovely and fragrant. The scallop soup dumplings were so supple and savoury. The stuffing inside the fried taro dumplings was also very delicious.“

“You spend typically around 45 per person if you order a lunch special. Compare that to other restaurants like these and it’s super cheap! The food here tastes good, just don’t order too much!
Also, depending on the size of the group you pull up with, it may or may not be a good idea to go with at least more than 6 people. Just saying. The portions are too much for less than that.“

“Most of the stuff here aren’t that bad, sometimes it is inconsistent but most of the time it is nice. Times usually get busy at around noon so be quick… or make a reservation. I went here at 10 am so not too busy, food arrived very fast because of it.“

“This is my favourite restaurant. Dim sum is excellent with loads of variety. The dinner menu also has wonderful dishes. The beef with wasabi is a particular favourite of mine. Food aside, the staff is very attentive and ever so friendly. The owner is very nice as is Sandi who will greet you at the door, so are Eddie, Gary & Ian to name but a few.“

“Enjoying some authentic HK dim sum for brunch.
Wish they had more than four tea options.
Service always here above my expectations, staff attentive, friendly and professional.
I always call ahead to make a reservation, specially on weekends and holidays, because has average wait time of at least twenty minutes during busy times and this cuts into the 2hr free parking.
Honestly dimsum food tastes more or less the same at most locations nowadays so really can't complain about anything there. The shrimp dumplings🥟 were fresh, skin was thin, and went really well with the chili oil. Stuffed chicken wings moist and crispy.
At 10:30am stir fried specials, they open at 9:00am 365 days a year, but that too early for me. Sometimes they have a set dim sum menu special for early birds. Definitely this price has reasonable prices even without foodie discounts.
I recommend their Puff Baked Sago Custard Pudding 脆皮西米焗布甸 and Crispy Donut Wrapped with Rice Roll 炸兩, both so delicious 😋 forgot take a photo.“

“All these 1 star reviews just share complaints about service, which is fairly typical based on the customer base that comes here. My assessment in an objective review for this place is 4 stars based on the criteria mentioned: food, service and atmosphere.
Food was great. Flavors wonderfully balanced on the dishes we ordered. Not overly seasoned, ingredients are good quality and portions generous. 50 years of eating dim sum and the food here stands out.
Service was OK, not exceptional but still serviceable when you ask for it. They are busy and won't necessarily be attentive to all tables. They are a bit uncoordinated as well (we waited on our last dish to come out and asked where it was, 2 people came out with the dish).
Atmosphere is nice. Restaurant is nicely decorated, tables spaced apart well and not as loud as other places when full. (A lot of dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong have unbearable noise levels!)
Overall, a good choice for dim sum, even on weekends (we ate on Saturday lunch time).“

“Right across from City Hall! Came here with the team and we all had a great time. The food was super fresh and tasty, the place was clean and comfy, and the staff were really friendly. Great spot for family or work dinners, especially if you love seafood!“
