50 Best Mexican Restaurants in Vancouver

“Last visit:
I ordered this dish from the special menu, apparently a popular item. However I found the chicken stinky and old, even with the flavorful sauce I couldn’t finish the meal and left it half way.
Apparently the staff don’t have any authority or control over customer satisfaction or compensation offers, so they just said nothing is wrong with the food and expressed they are sorry. Not sure if I will try their food again.

“Muy deli las entradas: Chicharrón de ribeye perfecto con ese guacamole recién hecho y frijoles refritos de fondo. El aguachile blanco muy fresco y rico, bien sazonado. La comida también muy buena: Molcajetes de arrachera y camarón. Salsa picor medio, el queso muy delicioso. La carne algo dura, el cilantro y cebolla deberían estar presentados aparte y unas cebollitas asadas faltaron, o nopales... Sería bueno que para el pollo en mole pongan más mole (un recipiente aparte donde podamos poner más al plato). El tres leches fue decepcionante, por muuuucho un 2/10 cumple la función de postre peor en textura, humedad (prácticamente inexistente), sabor, inclusive combinación de sabores.... Quedó debiendo muchísimo.“

“We had an absolutely great time here!! At first we didn’t know it was a mexican spot, and it was the best surprise! The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and accommodating & it was decorated very nicely. Overall would definitely recommend, we’ll be back!“

“Just had the chicken burrito made by Karan, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced — tender, well-seasoned chicken, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of spice. You can really tell it was made with care. Everything was wrapped up perfectly, and it held together without being soggy or dry. Easily one of the best burritos I’ve had in a while. Great job, Karan.“

“We can tell the food is made with so much love and care! Taste delicious- like homemade food 😋 and the hot sauce was delicious (homemade!!) and portion was generous!

We got the bowl with lamb & beef. The meat was well marinated, tasty, and love all the toppings. The tortilla was also fried so it gives a very nice texture to the entire dish!

Another order was the burrito with spinach tortilla and BBQ chicken. Again, well marinated chicken!

As for the hot sauce, we got the level 2, 3 and 4. I would say level 3 is pretty spicy already, but personally LOVE the level 4 - it’s a little bit sweet, so balances really well with the picked jalapeño throughout the dish.

Owner was super friendly and informative. He explained to us all the dishes. And he was also very attentive when we mentioned it was to go - with extra napkins, spoons and forks, etc.

“We are thrilled to have a great Mexican restaurant in our neighbourhood! We have been about 6 times since they opened in December - I can confirm that Brunch, Lunch, Happy Hour and Dinners are all fantastic! Truly authentic Mexican food and fantastic Margaritas and Palomas!!!!! The serving staff & bartenders are great. I forgot to take photos the other trips …but, here our breakfast from today (Chicken Enchiladas, Huarache Con Cochinita & Huevos Rancheros)“

“Great addition to the Granville strip. We enjoyed our time here. Recommend the Molcajete Mexicano and the Del Trompo a tu Trompa. Desserts including the churro were all fabulous. Portions were pretty decent and we were full and still had a big take away box. The server was such a sweetheart and really attentive. Will definitely be back and bring friends once covid is over.“

“I think is one if the best places in vancouver to order carnitas, we ordered 500 gr of mixed carnitas and it came with a good amoumt of corn tortillas, green salsa, lime and pico de gallo, everything was pretty tasty, is not my first time ordering here, the flavour and service is great and pretty solid.“

“I've been in Vancouver for a couple of days and most Mexican restaurants don't have the same seasoning and don't taste good, but at La Reyna especially the tacos taste delicious and are very similar to those in Mexico, definitely my new favorite restaurant.

“This isnt a dine in location. But instead a remote kitchen in an industrial area that is for food pickups only (like uber eats, skip the dishes, etc). Did not know this until I arrived. Some food trucks around, so maybe they cater out of these during the day? The worker did not mention this when I arrived.“

“Downtown place is nothing special, but the service was friendly and quick. I got a large burrito and it was a lot to eat. Messy, so know what you're getting yourself into. But it held together and didn't break as I ate it. Not cheap - large burrito and a coke came to $19 very quickly. But overall, a nice lunch, hence the 4 stars.“

Nancy and her team served the food, and the catering even comes with lemonade — it was perfect for the size of our party. They are very professional and organized, I highly recommend!“

“I’ve been hesitant to review this place for a while, sometimes I love it other times it’s feels like a rip off. Food is decent quality, perhaps a little bland (chicken especially) but I appreciate that it isn’t loaded up with fats and salt.

I stopped ordering the burritos after getting a small burrito, the price it just too high to gamble with leaving less than full.

Inconsistent portions continues to be a problem with the tamale plates, but at least they are reasonably priced. I’ve only had one staffer that serves a fair portion, while another has been consistently small. After witnessing him scoop two scoops of rice then “accidentally” dump some back, I walked out.

I don’t know how many nickels he’s saving, but if they are going to serve meager portions, I’d appreciate the option of a super size.“
