“There’s really no such thing as bad izakaya food, and Kingyo Izakaya is certainly no exception. Their cocktails are quite unique, and the dishes are genuinely delicious. The stone grill is not only tasty but also fun—both the atmosphere and the aroma are absolutely top-notch. In addition, the Tomato Kimchi was surprisingly impressive. I’m really glad we came here to celebrate a birthday, and I appreciate the staff’s thoughtfulness.“

“Dress nicely and drop in for happy hour before it gets too busy. I had a wet martini, nicely prepared, and an imported draft beer from Oregon. Didn’t stay for food because of a prior commitment, but it’s on my list for a follow-up visit.
Wheelchair accessibility: I went down stairs to get there from the street entrance, perhaps there’s an elevator since it’s connected to the Georgia Hotel?“

“I went for dinner with my friend and it was such an amazing experience, we admired everything about it from the ambiance to the service to the food. We also appreciate how the staff recommend what sauce to use with the select of dumplings we got to get the best experience.“

“Rude server - My wife's first experience going out after giving birth. The male server peaked over her shoulder while she paid and made a rude comment when he saw she tipped 'only' 15% on a $20 cocktail. Completely ruined her night. Train your staff better.“
“Food and drinks were great at Pax, we loved all the little tapas we got, especially the warm olives. However, I gave a 4 because of the “little things” that are missing to make this place great. That also makes it doesn’t match the price you’d be paying for the food and drinks. Sharing this because I genuinely want this place to improve. Couple to point out:
- playlist at the restaurant is odd. It’s playing top hits which has a mixed of pop, bad bunny, and random songs. It doesn’t quite match the vibes of the restaurant and food they serve.
- service isn’t terrible but could be more attentive. We sat at the table across the little kitchen. We noticed our food were out for couple minutes. But our servers were busy chatting with other staffs or wiping glasses instead.
- the napkins are brown colour instead of the usual white ones
- washroom has rolls of brown kitchen paper towels that you gotta rip it with your wet hands, instead of individual napkins“

“We visited The Magnet on West Pender in Vancouver last night. It's owned by the same folks that run Brassneck Brewery (on Main, very decent beers) and the Alibi Room (on Alexander, great beer list, best veggie burger in town, great location). We've heard good things from friends and checked it out for their beer list which is vast and great choices (only BC beers these days as everywhere but excellent selection). They have slow pours for some of the pilsners and a side pull for others for a denser, creamier foam. Staff is very knowledgable about the beers and about the short but mighty natural wine list as well. The real surprise for us was the food though. We had heard good things about their pies (English Pork Pie, daily choices) and charcuterie board but as vegetarians we opted for the Grilled Carrots with Spiced Orange Glaze, Chana Dal, Spinach, Cilantro & Cashew Lemon Cream, served with Fried Flat Bread and the Whipped Feta & Olive Dip, Grilled Zucchini, Warm Balsamic Shallot Dressing & Housemade Olive Focaccia. We were majorly impressed by the presentation and taste of both. The warm balsamic shallot dressing was divine. SO GOOD. Everything fresh, on point and so delish. Highly recommend checking this place out when you are in downtown Vancouver.“

“Grabbed breakkie here a few days back before work and the service+food was unforgettable. The ambiance caught my eye but the hospitality definitely made me want to frequent this cozy joint more often. Tara's service was terrific, could not complain with the bottomless iced coffee before a long day, and I'm so glad she convinced me on the mangled eggs!!! That thing was like a loaded croissant on steroids 😹
Between the rest of the crew whippin' out delicacies from the kitchen and swiftly seating new patrons, I've gotta give special props to JC, Brendan, and Nikki for maintaining such seamless synergy throughout the morning, and helping add a little magic to mine when I needed it!
P.s. that pb shake is calling my nameeee 😭“

“We came here for dinner to order their spicy mazesoba, ramen, and pork gyoza. It was our first time to try mazesoba, so delicious. I can taste the grinded fish and minced pork was combined properly with a lot of spices. The runny yolk made the noodle creamy. You can add rice at the end to mix with the leftover spicy grinded meats. They offer upsize bowl for free.“

“I love sushi and I have tried a few good places in downtown, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge and I am telling ya, this place is FREAKING AWESOME 👌 👏 👍.
I went there for lunch. I was hungry and I did eat like a pig.
The vibe was so peaceful and the place was quiet and clean. The staff were very friendly. A lady welcomed me in and I picked my seat.
The service was fast and professional.
I ordered a spicy combo roll containing 3 different sushi rolls. All just superb. I picked 4 different sashimis plus I ordered dumplings and that octopus balls. The dumplings and balls were exquisite 👌 and Devine.
They have a good variety of beer and sake. I ordered a 633ml bottle of Japanese beer and drank it like water.
I ate it all..like fat greedy pig.
STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
DEFINITELY WILL GO THERE AGAIN AND AGAIN.“

“First time for us, attended a private function. Food was delicious and filling. The service was outstanding and extremely attentive. They had a vast array of sake and after ordering the sake flight (sampler tray), we found a few options that we really liked and ordered a couple of bottles. The sashimi was very fresh and delicious. There was an assortment of dishes that we tried that were on par with many of the high end restaurants, such as the egg omelet with crab ankake and the BBQ eel Unagi rice bowl. Street parking was easy to find. We’d definitely come back to Hashigo Sake Bar.“

“Cozy space, authentic vibes. They accommodated us as a large group. Service was very good. Portions were smaller than expected. We opted for Family-Style sharing and picked multiple dishes from the menu.
Make sure to check out the daily feature menu. They sell out.
Upside: the place is open till late (midnight for most of the week)“

“I was next door and looking forward to eat at Momo Sushi but the Chinese girl so rude when I came in and greeted her in Japanese. From then on it was very rude no Wi-fi 20-minute wait place was crowded so I came here to Guu. Very friendly Wi-Fi they speak Japanese and the food is excellent. If you're in Waterfront in the old town Gaslight area go straight yo Guu.. NO NO on momo :)“

“Their ramen is delicious! Usually we don’t eat ramen because their soup base is always very salty. But we gave it a try and loved the soup which is perfect and the ramen is crunchy. The charsiu is also cooked well. I love their Hokkaido ice cream the best. Wednesday is free for members. That makes it even worth it to eat at this ramen restaurant.“

“I loved this place! The cheese tteokbokki was so good and they were perfectly chewy. The sauce wasn't too spicy so it was easy to enjoy. The dish is packed with rice cakes and fish cakes and loaded with cheese on top! I would have liked it if the cheese was more melted but it was still delicious. The soy garlic chicken was also juicy and crispy.“
