8 Best Wineries near Alameda

Urban Legend Winery • $$
1951 Monarch St bldg 25, Alameda

“I REALLY enjoyed Urban Legend, it offers wine tasting, crafted on sight. During harvest you might see trucks pulling up with bins of grapes that immediately start getting processed by the owners Steve, Marilee, and their knowledge staff. If the weather is nice you can sit outside and look at the spectacular skyline of San Francisco and the Bay (photos below). We had Stella as our hostess. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. She listened to your feedback on the wine, and we had great discussions about it. I can’t wait to come back next year! ??“

Building 43 Winery Wineries • $$
2440 Monarch St, Alameda

“Had my 40th bday here. Estella is so hospitable, sweet, and hard working. She invited me to taste and pick out wines in advance and was onsite with her son the night of the party. Everything was delicious and smooth, and she even allowed us to keep some food donations we had collected over night. Highly recommend this unique and family owned venue.“

Blindwood Cider Company Winery •
2547 Williams St, San Leandro - 5 miles

“Nice selection of ciders and very friendly owners with a small but inviting taproom. We've had their Honey Sage, Peach & Lemon Verbena, and Hibiscus Mint at other local breweries and really enjoyed them, so decided to stop in upon learning that they had a taproom. We got a flight of their Puns n Roses, Zin, Ginger Peppercorn, Arkansas Black, Nehou Normal, and Jonathan, of which we liked the first two. Also got a bottle to go of their Coffee Chaff and Bourbon Barrel, which was very different from any of the other ciders we tried. We had a good time and look forward to coming back!“

Deer Hill Vineyards Winery •
6 Lois Ln, Lafayette - 10.84 miles

“I celebrated my birthday here with a small group of friends yesterday. 10/10 recommend for a local tasting. The tasting room was beautiful- I wish I took photos in there! After the tasting we snapped a few photos out by the vines and enjoyed a couple bottles of wine. Bob was a great host and played music while my group chatted and enjoyed the first fall-feeling day with the sun whipping in and out from behind the clouds here and there. I can't finish this review without mentioning the delicious charcuterie board that Bob prepared for us. Yum! Definitely will return for the holidays and bring the family.“

“We have visited a number of great wineries in Napa, and Israel, but if you would like to experience the best explanation of the process by some of the warmest and most welcoming wine makers then check out Covenant Wines! We spent a beautiful afternoon with their team led by Managing Director, Sagie Kleinlerer, who is most knowledgeable. I was especially interested in the challenges posed by climate change. Prima Materia Winery Tasting Room Wine Bar •
482 #B, 49th St, Oakland - 5.02 miles

“I really dig Prima Materia wines -- particularly the cab and Grenache. I also like buying the variety pack cases, which brings the cost per bottle down to about $22. And it's fun to learn about varietals with which I'm unfamiliar, like agalianico.“
