“I celebrated my birthday here with a small group of friends yesterday. 10/10 recommend for a local tasting. The tasting room was beautiful- I wish I took photos in there! After the tasting we snapped a few photos out by the vines and enjoyed a couple bottles of wine. Bob was a great host and played music while my group chatted and enjoyed the first fall-feeling day with the sun whipping in and out from behind the clouds here and there. I can't finish this review without mentioning the delicious charcuterie board that Bob prepared for us. Yum! Definitely will return for the holidays and bring the family.“

“I am local, residing in Castro Valley, but visited this place for the first time. I had colleagues from France visited the Bay Area for half a day, and had to find a place not so far from SFO airport. I decided to take them to this winery based on excellent reviews.This was the right decision. We spent more than two hours, first with Susan, and then with Sal, talking about everything from ancient Georgian wine making, to Alexander The Great, the Puglia history of winemaking etc. etc. In fact, we would be happy to stay longer, but my colleagues had to catch their plane. The wine testing with homemade bread and artisan cheeses was also excellent. The wines smell was outstanding and it changes quickly as the wine in the glass was interacting with oxygen. I particularly liked their Petite Sirah 2013 and Cabernet Franc 2013. It was terrific to learn how a retired mechanical engineer (Sal) and a mathematician (Susan) started their winery about 20 years ago with no experience and grown into mature organic winemakers. Sal knows a lot from history, science, engineering, philosophy, you name it, and it is a big fun taking to him. My French colleagues said it was a spectacular trip! I will visit this place again.“

“If you haven't dropped by the William Welch Tasting room, you are missing out!! A fun tasting experience with the man who makes the wine. Look for events at night like magic shows and music. You can buy wine by the glass at the events, or a few bottles like we did to take home. If you buy some wine, your tasting fee is waived.Support local and enjoy good wine. The best of both worlds.“

“We’ve been members for maybe 6 years and we just love Buon Vino it is a great place to hang out and drink some delicious wine. The atmosphere is always great. We love the new location and all the fun events they come up with. Always our place to go to with my husband and great spot for girls “

“Like other reviews have stated, TwiningVine Winery is a hidden gem in the Bay Area. My husband & I were looking for a winery to try out near Lake Chabot to take a friend to who was visiting from out of town. A morning hike around Lake Chabot followed by wine tasting at this boutique family winery turned out to be such an awesome day! Friendly tip: If you plan to visit TwiningVine, be sure to check their website for up-to-date visiting info. They're only open the 2nd & 4th weekend of the month from March through September for wine tasting. We were lucky enough to go the last Sunday of August, and it was a gorgeous, sunny day! Their wine tasting experience is set in a beautiful area outdoors in the shade of a beautiful oak tree near their big red barn. You have your choice of sitting up at a bar area, tall tables with stools, or various cushiony patio furniture spread out amongst the trees, plants and water fountains. It's really relaxing and picturesque! Javier was our main server/wine tasting expert, and he was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable of the wines. Ruby also stepped in towards the end and was great too! They even introduced us to the owners of the winery which was a nice little treat as well! Javier told us that they had just bottled a new Chardonnay, and gave us a taste of that first. I think it was my favorite, but that may also be because it was warm outside and the rest of the tasting menu were reds! “I really dig Prima Materia wines -- particularly the cab and Grenache. I also like buying the variety pack cases, which brings the cost per bottle down to about $22. And it's fun to learn about varietals with which I'm unfamiliar, like agalianico.“

“I couldn't have picked a better venue or better host! You feel like you are with your family and feel right at home. On the day of my wedding I feel so comforted and relaxed. Even right before the wedding was supposed to begin the rain decided to join us for a little bit and Barbara and many others jumped into to get the chairs and tables dry, amazing!I also highly recommend Juan as you cater for this venue, he knows the space extremely well and the food is amazing!Finally I also recommend getting Mirella as your wedding planner! She coordinated with all the vendors wonderfully and left me to be able to just enjoy my day! =)“

“I came here for a girls day out with a friend. Called at 9am and was able to reserve for 1pm tasting without any issues. Samantha was the one who helped us. She gave us a little history on the place. They are family owned and family run, and she is 4th generation. She's super friendly and was very patient with us. I learned how to say Sangiovese. Now I can go order this in an Italian restaurant and sound like I know what I'm ordering . Thank you Samantha.Tastings are $10/person, but is waived if you buy a bottle (any bottle, and a bottle starts at only $10). I really enjoyed my time here. The tasting room is decent size, could probably fit 20 people max. It was air conditioned. They were setting up for a concert yesterday, so we were not allowed to have outdoor tasting, but outdoor would've been too hot for us anyway. I tried a variety of wines and the 3 I liked the most were the Sangiovese and Reserve Zinfandel, and Reserve Zinfandel Port. I like sweeter wines and these three were fruity and delicious. I ended up purchasing the port.Plenty of parking on the property, but not clearly marked. I wish there were lines, I parked under the tree out in front. Overall it was a lovely experience and such a beautiful winery in the middle of a residential area! I would totally take guests here in the future. Maybe pack a little charcuterie board to go with the tasting. They do not serve food here, except for special events like the Luau that Samantha so kindly told us about. They often host concerts and events here. I'll be checking their site for info and definitely come back!“
