“Can I tell you I recommend this place to everyone. Well tonight we had a misunderstanding on the wellness of my steak, but everything else was absolutely phenomenal. So I said something, and when I tell you, my steak came out picture perfect, from a magazine. I mean It. This place has everything. Ambiance, cocktails, plating perfection, hospitality. I could not recommend this place more. Please, do yourself a favor and enjoy this experience. ♥️”

“It's no longer Santa Maria Brewing Co. It's Blast and Brew. They're doing a good job. Prices are reasonable, good service. It's been our go-to spot for a burger and a beer”
“Food was good. Took a little while to get food. Staff is usually good here, just heads up if you are seated in the back it does seem like you don't get as much service. That being said this restaurant has always been good.”
“I love beer. Every road trip I take, I do my due diligence and look for new breweries I haven’t yet experienced. Checking my Untappd app, I saw Spent Grain in Atascadero. Driving from Prunedale to SLO, I made it a point to add their address as a point in my GPS.
Upon arriving, I parked in the rear due to not a lot of available street parking. I walked to the street side front and looked for the brewery. Couldn’t find it. After double checking Google for the address, I looked again to no avail. Dumbfounded, I went to Google once again and delved deeper.
Upon reading the Google reviews, I found that the brewery was very much a speakeasy, if breweries can be defined as such. And why not?
The Google reviews me ruined texting for an appointment. Oh shit! I hadn’t made one! Well, can’t hurt to ask, right? So I sent a text message(available right there in their Google page) explaining my situation and lack of a reservation. Chris, the owner and brewmaster, replied quickly, and instructed me to meet him around back by the glass doors.
I met him at an unmarked entrance that required a security code for entry. He greeted me warmly and walked me down a long non-distinct hallway. We walked through a door that had the address of the brewery.
Now, I have been to 500+ breweries across the US. As I stated previously, I love beer. I love breweries as well. Big or small, it doesn’t matter. Every one has something unique to offer. Chris has built an intimate brewery experience. The entire brewery may be sixteen by sixteen feet. Drinking at the three seat bar makes you feel like a part of the brewing process. Sneeze(please don’t) and all the equipment will need to be re sanitized. You’re really that close. There are 6 to 8 brewing barrels in along the back wall. I’m no expert on size, but I would guess they were between 50 and 100 gallons, which means a lot of small batch brewing. That leaves a lot of opportunity for experimentation and rotation.
The walls are adorned with plenty of swag from a simple t-shirt and truckers hat to top of the line, $100 flannels.
Chris is incredibly friendly. Considering that the brewery may have a maximum occupancy of 5 to 10 beer lovers at a time, one has to be a good conversationalist, and he definitely is.
Chris has almost two decade of experience under his belt, having opened Dunbar Brewing in 2008 in Santa Margarita.
Chris’ beer is great. He let me try a few IPA’a before settling on a pint. He also filled a crowler of his Double IPA Slingin’ Tinnies for me to go straight from the barrel.
Just the idea of a brewery that runs on word of mouth, speakeasy type vibes is fantastic. I’ve been raving about the venue and beer to my friends back home and plan on making a return trip soon, this time making a reservation ahead of time.”

“Thank you, Blast and Brew for bringing Me-n-Ed’s to Atascadero with you. We have been waiting for a fun location where we can go for dining, good food, & cocktails, & More - The music you have had is such a plus: Take Matt Cross for instance - he plays your restaurant this Saturday, 5pm, October 2nd, and we all plan to come after the Cal Poly football game. Again, great service & yummy food - right up my alley. Last night’s performance was authentic & made for the best spot to watch the World Series ⚾️ 🍔 🍻 🍳 🎼 🥳 🎙️🍹”

“I tried this place for the first time today. Amazingly there was no on in line. I had the pleasure of meeting Suzy herself & the sweet lady who made my burrito. The food was delicious. I got a carne asada burrito for my lunch. It was meaty, delicious & perfectly moist. I also got a couple tamales to go. I was set up nicely for a delicious dinner later & it was so good I was inspired to write this review. I will definitely be going back.”

“Go to place for Mexican food. I've been numerous times but first review. I got the carne asada Quesadilla to go. It was delicious and packed with steak.
They have a chips and salsa bar. So you can get whatever salsa you want. From pico de gallo to the spicy salsa. There are jalapeños you can add. There are chips under a heating lite. They have beer and soda to choose from.
I highly recommend the nachos. They are big enough to spilt and still be full.”

“So happy we re-found these guys! They were AJ’s kitchen on the 41 and we went quite often there. They left that location and came here. It’s a quaint place with small section of seating indoors and a nice patio area outside. Enrique even remembers our names and it’s been at least a yr since we’ve seen him. We have always loved their food. And this time did not disappoint. The salsa was smoked just right. Chips are fresh. The pastrami sandwich was great. And the macaroni salad is the bomb! Seasoned just right. With this location they have beer but only one for the time being. We will definitely be back more now that we know where they are. If you haven’t been here, you are 100% missing out. Go check it out for yourself.”

“My friend and I, on vacation from Florida, have been following TPA since before they opened and finally had a chance to stop by and check it out. I wish we had more time to spend here! Cody was super welcoming and walked us through the current offerings, explaining what made each cider unique. Aside from that, the atmosphere of the space is perfect. It was a pretty chill rainy day and we had great conversations with those around us. Definitely a place to hang if you want friendly people and conversation. I can also see it being high energy during events... just a great place for a fun night. Thank you Cody, for the warm welcome! You are on our "must visit" list for future trips!”

“This is the best Mexican food in SLO county! I'm obsessed with thier al pastor tacos. I brought my husband today, he was delighted with his burrito bowl w/al pastor. It was huge and he couldn't finish it so he took the other half as leftovers which he never does. The leftovers did not make it home b/c he finished them 15 min later. The restaurant is taqueria style with lot of indoor and outdoor seating. Next time I want to try thier frozen adult beverages and churros”

“The owner is an awesome, genuine, kind hearted guy, and it’s easy to tell that he has a passion for offering a high quality, delicious and healthy food with great service. His ingredients are all natural and everything I ordered was very fresh! I got a strawberry and banana bowl as well as a protein donut and they were both so delicious! I hadn’t had a donut quite like it before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was great! And he has really low prices compared to any place like this that I’ve been to! “The pastries are exquisite but be ready to pay for the experience of tasting! The espresso drink is priced about what the chains charge so complaint there. The almond croissant had very little of the paste inside which was disappointing. There are breakfast meals available which provide protein and are priced at about what the coffee and croissant cost.”

“Went there for the first time. I gave this a 4 star for the food. The choices were ok, but the PHO is ala' cart. That is most likely due to the fact that the place is very small. The spring rolls were very fresh and the dipping sauce tasty. I gave the service a 2 star and that is primarily because there was only one person working, which made perfect sense due to the size of the place, but the service person was sick. It was obvious that the person was sick by the caughing and even admitted being sick. So what on earth would a restauranat want a sick person there working? I was surprised. The atmosphere is fine for a noodle place. Would I go back, on the fence....”

“Meet another couple there tonight with no expectations, having none of us ever been to this restaurant. The single plus was that the pizza was pretty good. Everything you expect from a dining experience was horrible. Just to hilight at few; the service was less than inexperienced, the wine selection offered 3 ounce glasses of low end swill. No bottle sales offered. Rip off. They are a corporate restaurant than took the place a local restaurant during covid that was pretty good, but couldn't survive the pandemic. Another tragedy. I won’t go back.”

“Truly, a hidden gem in the central California coastal area. Tucked away in the quaint El Paseo shops area just off Traffic Way. A rare find and worth the drive between SF and LA along the 101. An excellent selection of fresh sashimi and sushi dishes, a bit of kushi-katsu, and a variety of salads. The miso-shiru soup it tasty. Several varieties of draft beer on tap, bottle beer, as well as seasonal sake selections, and of course chu-hai's. Sodas and Ramune for the tee-totalers. The decor is a unique blend of old fishing gear, fantasy steam-punk furnishings, and displays of Japanese knick-knacks, all in a tiny three-table arrangement. This is not a run of the mill Japanese restaurant (as there are many within the vicinity). This is definitely a place for sushi and sashimi aficionados who enjoy high-end, quality foods in a tiny setting.”
