“The Italian food here is so delicious and authentic! Our favorites were the roasted porchetta pinsa, shrimp scampi and gnocchi al ragu. The affogato was perfect on a hot day and the tiramisu and cannoli were great sweet treats. The staff is super friendly, the interior is very cute, and there is seating inside and outside. This is such a great spot to have at the Chino Hills Shoppes. Definitely visit when you are in the area!“

“We dropped by this afternoon to pickup some lunch and fuel with our RV before heading to camp at Prado. Magic’s made us a couple of the most delicious cheeseburger combos we have had in a long time. The owner Mario is the coolest guy, and works hard to make pizza that stands alone. This is a small family operation, so stuck up yuppie influencers might not love the location or decor and straightforward presentation, but the food is what matters. You won't find better for the price.“

“This restaurant is located in a shopping plaza at the corner of Birch Street and Kraemer Blvd in Brea. Parking was easy on a Monday evening. We did not need reservations and were seated promptly on arrival as it was pretty empty. The service was overall good. Our waiter checked in on us multiple times and was attentive. The complimentary bread and garlic butter was great, but the rest of the food was fine, honestly nothing special. Our pastas were on the oilier side and salty, but the portion sizes are huge.“

“I've been a Vince's customer all my 70 years. Not your typical Italian restaurant, just a spaghetti house, although the menu has been expanded recently to include lasagna. Always good, family friendly, just don't get hungry for spaghetti on Wednesday. To my knowledge they've never been open on Wednesday.“

“OMG! Some of the best Italian food I've had in quite some time. I ordered Linguine with class in a white wine sauce. Perfect pasta, very fresh and sumptuous class and the sauce was a perfect complement to the dish. My brother ordered Shrimp Scampi and the shrimp were huge and according to him delicious!

Obviously a local favorite for many years in a relatively quiet area of LaVerne with wonderful atmosphere and so very friendly staff.

“We came to the shopping center to try a Soup and Salad joint but apparently it’s a fad right now with a ridiculous wait so we pivoted and took a look to see what else was in the parking lot. We decided on Cara Mia. All I can say is “wow!” The food here is fantastic. Warm ambiance. Friendly staff. Delicious food. The Fried Calamari is fried just right, a generous appetizer portion lightly breaded that doesn’t skimp on the actual calamari. We had angel hair pasta and the meat lasagna and both were fantastic! And the prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the size of the portions. We have a new Italian place on our list.“

From the welcoming staff the moment you walk through the door, to the decor, to the EXTENSIVE bakery items (that are beyond delicious!), to the pizza, to the coffee, there is truly not a bad choice on the menu! They even have a window to the kitchen so you (or your kids) can watch the magic happen in the kitchen. The first time I went there I was reminded of my Dad and my time in Palermo. “After moving 10 yrs ago and not realizing there was a Pepz Pizza located about 20 minutes away, it made my day. I will drive the distance because I gots to have my BBQ chicken pizza!!! It's my favorite! The ratio of ingredients in every bite and the crust baked to perfection ahhhh....no words to describe. Pepz has great pizza and I also dig the antipasta salad. Everyone should try this place, it definitely won't disappoint.“

“Olive Garden is an easy restaurant to joke about as faux-Italian suburban food, but if you go in knowing exactly what it is, it can be surprisingly good. I hadn’t been to one in years, and after two recent visits to this location, I’ve been reminded why I actually enjoyed it.

The Chino Spectrum location makes a good impression. It’s fairly classy—not upscale exactly, but polished in that slightly aspirational upscale-casual way, with booths, banquettes, warm lighting, and Italian-ish music. My first visit was relaxed; the second was on a much busier Friday. The restroom was a little messier that time, although nothing terrible, and the dining room still felt comfortable and well run.

Service has been the standout both times. Our first waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering, and on the second visit our waitress was just as accommodating and proactive. I asked which soup she recommended, went with the Zuppa Toscana, and it was delicious enough that I thanked her afterward. I also noticed the manager walking through and checking on the room. Easy 5 stars for service.

The food has generally been very good. The calamari was genuinely tasty, the Zuppa Toscana was a pleasant surprise, and my mom’s chicken parmigiana was good. On my first visit, the rigatoni with cheese sauce and meatballs was rich and hearty, and my dad, who can be picky, was happy with his pasta.

My main criticism is salt. The breadsticks are tasty but can border on too salty, and my parents, who are in their 70s, have repeatedly thought the soups were salty too. I usually find them salty but still enjoyable.

The grilled chicken marsala on my second visit pushed it further. I liked the flavor a lot, but the topping on the chicken was so salty that I eventually scraped it off and ate the chicken underneath, which was delicious but still somewhat salty. I have been eating less heavily salted food lately, so my palate may be more sensitive than some people’s, but this felt noticeably excessive.

I studied abroad in Italy, so I know Olive Garden isn’t what many Italians would call Italian food—but that doesn’t mean it can’t be delicious. Some of the best pizza I had in Rome was made by a Chinese Italian immigrant, so I care much more about whether food tastes good than whether it passes an authenticity test.

The value is also surprisingly good, especially with soup or salad and breadsticks included. My parents commented on the prices during our first visit, and after coming back, I still think it’s a lot of food for the money.

Nothing here is revolutionary, and there are definitely some seasoning issues for my taste. But across two visits, most of the food has ranged from good to genuinely delicious, the restaurant is comfortable, the prices are reasonable, and the service has been consistently excellent.
