“Okay had not been in awhile it was the 2nd choice. Had a couple of adult beverages that were really tasty but the cocktail lacked the sophisticated flavor I was seeking and the beer cold and refreshing. The food was good full of flavor. The service was topnotch. From my perspective the only drawback was the style of music and the volume.“
“Genuinely friendly crowd, food is edible- keep those expectations low you’ll be fine, service from the daytime bartender, Maria, is incomparable— everyone is ‘my love’ everyone is welcomed everyone gets a smile - the kind of gentle smile that assures you a pleasant afternoon is ahead of you.“
“Love this place. Their BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite. It's always the perfect crisp. I love all the toppings in this pizza. Very consistent. And their sweet chili & lemon pepper wings are really good. Packed with flavor. Tried the wagyu sliders but they were NOT a hit. Wasn't flavorful, kinda blain, basic and were so sad the tater tots had no flavor at all. But hella crispy. Atmosphere is cool, tvs and little bar top. The staff is ok. Overall, I'll keep going back.“
“I've been on a burger kick so my husband has been taking me to all his favorite places. I ordered the balboa burger and it was delicious ! Along with the fries , I really enjoyed the aioli sauce. I'm excited to come back and try out the different burgers. Everyone who works here is great ! It's a pretty cool place to drink some beers and play some pool.“
“Hello all. Comments ce va. This is wonderful place downtown San Diego. Very surprised. If the service quality and price. Very pleasant place. Food could be a little better the pancakes ? were a bit chewy. Eggs were ok. But good place to just soak in the sights. Thank you and be well tout le monde.Vegetarian options: Some vege options. Not alot. Lots of lun h specials and drink specials.Kid-friendliness: It's a bar slash restaurant. So if you don't mind being in this atmosphere. Then it's very kid and pet Friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes a wide entrance. Lower level seating. The bathroom us roomy. But you might need help with the door. Au revoir“
“Came here with a few friends for my first time and had a few apps and lunch. The mussels are to die for and the polpette (a fried meatball) was off the chart. I was told to try the fried chicken piccata sandwich and wasn’t very impressed to be honest. The fries were awesome but the sandwich tasted like fried fish… not my favorite. Service was top notch and the busser was even better.Vegetarian options: Lots of fresh salads and vegetarian appsParking: Attached parking lot behind the restaurant is super easy to park.“
“Had a great time at Goodbar. The bar staff was awesome, everything was reasonably priced. They had a food truck that was really good and that made it fun. We happen to be they're on a night they had music. The band was all original music and it was great.“
“This casual eatery offers burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and good beer at great value. The laid-back atmosphere includes indoor and outdoor seating and heaters for chilly weather.Kid-friendliness: Casual spot with picnic tables and fenced in so kids can play around a bit.“
“We had a cheesesteak here, we are from Philly. They were better than gagliones and the other "title claiming cheesesteak" winners. They needed the amoroso rolls and they would have been solid! However, it is our go-to cheesesteak place. I will say, a bit overpriced. So wasn't a fan of that.“
“This is a hidden gem behind the convention center. I really enjoy this spot as a place to take a break during a leisurely bike ride down by the Harbor. The burgers are good and you can grab a pint of beer if you please. I believe they also make TJ dogs if that's your thing. The seating is outdoor. It's just a really chill spot and I will continue to come here as long as they're around.“
“This place was just lovely! Stopped here on our day out bar hopping and got a $10 bottle of champagne (no OJ) and sat outside while we people watched. They have a popcorn machine which was so awesome as we munched on it, talked and had some drinks. I will definitely be back!“
“This was my second time going to Desi's after being introduced by a friend and let me tell ya, this place is my go-to for a drink. The bartender Gar recognized me after being there only ONCE and he is super cool. I ordered my usual Jameson and coke while we talked about when the cold weather would let up. I also nibbled on some potato wedges which are amazingly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. That's when I spied that they also make Detroit style deep dish pizza. I've never had deep dish and decided to try it for the first time. I kid you not, my taste buds did acrobatics. The crust had a nice crunch but also was springy and soft. The sausage and peppers mixed well with the sauce. Come here if you want to experience a cozy place to eat and drink. You won't be disappointed.“
“Come for Thursday for the $1 wings. That's right folks, just $1! The wings are pretty flavorful and came out quickly. I really enjoyed the wet rub wings, especially the Thai chili flavor. My least favorite was the lemon pepper, which was a bit sour for me. Are they the best wings I've ever had? Probably not. Did they hit the spot? Absolutely. Would I return for the great wing deal? Definitely!Great selection of beers to pair the wings with as well. Reasonable prices for all the beers. Great service.“
“Visiting San Diego this past weekend and meeting up with my long time friend. He recommended this place cause it was on the way to the airport. Place gives you definite dive bar vibes in a Cheers settings. Place was filled with locals enjoying a San Diego morning. Got there early and our waitress greeted me quickly and took my drink order as I was waiting for my friend. Ordered the moco loco breakfast-food came out hot and was very tasty. Got the chance to catch up with my friend and noticed how busy the place got but the patrons were greeted quickly and lead to a place to sit. Have lived in CA my whole life - driven past this place but never tried it. It is truly a great local place and will make a point to visit again.“
“This was our second visit to this place, and once again, we were pleased with our choices. I particularly enjoyed the Cardiff tri-tip option—it adds a nice local touch to the menu, and the burger was exquisite! One thing that bothered me was the need to pay extra for fries instead of chips. While the fries were indeed really good, shouldn't a burger come with fries? The restaurant offers plenty of wine and beer selections, and the service was nice and attentive. However, despite sitting indoors, it was surprisingly cold, even with our jackets on!Overall, while I wouldn't give it a 5-star rating, I still recommend this place“
“Best dive bar in the area!!! Has the best burgers and fries I've ever had at a bar! Indoor has wrap around bar and tvs. There is also an outdoor patio with its own bar which opens when the inside gets busy. Come earlier for the very reasonably priced happy hour!! Beer on tap 7 for pint 14 for stein.“
“I decided to order takeout here because the Mr. Peabody's in Encinitas wasn't picking up & I live closer to this location on Friars Rd than the one located next to Moonlight Beach. Based on their menu, I ordered the NY Steak because it comes with potatoes and salad for under $20. The food was great but nothing mind-blowing. It's just your average diner food with super nice staff. Compared to the Encinitas location, the waitresses here look calm and relaxed. It was also a lot brighter & quieter so you're able to look at the menu without squinting. Unfortunately, they don't have live music in this location but they did have the basketball game playing on the television so I'll definitely be back to watch a game here sometime soon. Price: $$ Location: Close to Fashion Valley Mall Service: Friendly and attentive Parking: Plenty of spots after 8 pm Recommendations: I would go here for the chill & friendly bar atmosphere. They do cater to an older crowd.“
“Me and my girlfriend came for the first time today and we had a blast! Tons of the people from community were at the bar and we met some new friends everyone spoke highly of the place as well. Matt was our bartender and took care of us exceptionally. We had a couple margaritas and wings and all of of it was super tasty. If you're looking for a good place to grab a bite have a drink and relax this place is perfect!“
“Panama 66 offers a vibrant atmosphere that's hard to beat, complete with live jazz bands, a wide array of local craft brews, and a decent food selection. The ambiance sets the perfect backdrop for a chill evening with friends or a laid-back date night. While my tuna melt did taste a bit off, the friendly staff and overall great vibe more than made up for it. Whether you're a jazz enthusiast, a beer aficionado, or just looking for a cool hangout spot, Panama 66 delivers on all fronts. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.“
“I went here for queer speed dating with Lax Ray. I HIGHLY recommend attending this event! I was super nervous going into the space but immediately Alex & the staff were super nice. I was able to get an espresso martini mocktail! (Pretty great one as well) I love when they are willing to make mocktail versions of drinks for us sober people. The event was huge!! There were so many people! Everyone was super friendly. They had talking point cards on the table to help with the nerves. We each talked to about 7 people for 7 minutes. It went by super fast & I even made 2 matches!! I hope they throw another one of these events!!“
“(Last visited 5/15/2023.) Hanging out in San Diego with my boys for the weekend and it's the last full day before we have to head back home. Well, it's Sunday Funday so that means brunch! I found out this place offers bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays 9:30am to 1:00pm so we pulled up and got started! Here's how it went...Atmosphere/Appearance: The Bootlegger is set right downtown on the corner of Market Street and 8th Avenue. There's a big vertical sign hanging way above the door pointing down to the bar in a very 60s Las Vegas sign sort of fashion. The inside gives me not-quite rustic vibes with its leather seats, exposed brick, yet modern amenities such as huge TVs hanging over the bar. It was a good mix. This place was LIVE though! It was lively, energetic and just an overall good time.Service: I can't remember who took care of us because there was so much going on, but we sat at the bar so the mimosas were flowing at Mach speed. Lol. We never needed to ask for anything because we had it.Food: I went with the Steak & Eggs, which is seared skirt steak, two eggs any way, tomatoes, peppers and a potato hash. It was cool. I'm here for the drinks and I just need food to soak up the alcohol. Lol. I would certainly lean a different direction, maybe toward the chicken & waffles with mac & cheese or something like that.Value: Pretty great if you ask me. Bottomless mimosas are $25.00 and you get to drink for 3.5 hours if you get here at 9:30am. Lol. That's pretty good value. My steak & eggs were only $15.00 so that's why they were pretty mid. Lol.If you're coming for brunch you're going to love this place! I know I did and I look forward to returning next year!“
“My buddies and I have been coming here off and on for years. Always great service and atmosphere. Our server on our last visit was Madeline. She was exceptional, very nice and attentive. Unlike most servers, she stopped and asked about our food, (good, hot, more etc....) even though it was very busy, she made sure to check on us and was very pleasant. The owner "Rick" is a nice guy. He always makes his way through the bar and makes contact with just about everyone. Makes you feel welcomed. Great Job !“
