“I’ve spent most of my life in the San Fernando Valley, where there are more places to eat than I could ever count. So when I find myself driving back to the same restaurant two or three times a week, that says something.

Ginkgo Chinese Restaurant has become one of those places for me. The food is consistently good, the service is always welcoming, and after a while it starts to feel less like a restaurant and more like a familiar stop in my week.

“maybe it’s nostalgia, but i’ve been coming here since i was kid and the food is as yummy as i remember. a lot of people said there was food poisoning in the past but i think we shouldn’t listen to people who eat at a grade B burger joint. their A grade inspection placard speaks for itself. the food is yummy, the employee is serious, and its cheap. i think this place is great!“

Their dan dan noodles with rice noodles was savory, with that lovely peanut base sauce.
Their Crab & pork xiao lou bao is super delicious. Their skin is thin and the soup inside just fills your mouth. Honestly i think it's better than Din tai fung for that alone.
The beef tomato noodle was filled with thick, tender beef chunks, and the diced tomato was actually sauted with savory seasoning.

“Dumplings werent what I expected. The pork looked raw. The spicy sauce was too watery. Wasnt really that great. I tried their house wontons and the filling tasted funky, not pleasent at all especially the sauce it came with. The new noodles they have, was delicious. Thats the only thing that saved this place from a terrible review. The atmosphere is odd, didnt like the paper plates and the water tasted terrible, worse water ever. I would have brought my own water but they dont allow outside drinks.“

The location is nice and clean with quick service. I got the golden noodle I forgot the name but it’s really good. Can’t want to come by again to try the rest of the items. One thing is that they have an appetizer combo deal. Worth getting just to try all the flavors. I ordered a deal and a noodle and had to bring my leftovers home. The salt and pepper pork chops, not sure if it was really pork. The texture was like a vegan patty, not sure. Zero bone, and somewhat spongy looking. But all in all it satisfied the craving for a Taiwanese inspired meal. Lou Ro Fan was good, but had a lot of sauce. I’d prefer more meat and less sauce. Sorry I didn’t take pictures, I usually do.
