“Our family has known Peni, Sherry,there kids and grandkids for over 12 yrs now. Once I saw and smelled the bbq over 12 yrs ago I gravitated towards it and have been a huge fan since. Their island q is the best on the mainland and I recommend trying it all since I don’t have a favorite. You can see the passion and love that this family puts towards sharing a little bit of their heritage through their food with all of us. “Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

We shared a flight and each had a glass of bubbly. Portion size good … I had leftovers for breakfast. Server Jeff casual but on the ball with advice. Menu somewhat limited, especially for vegans.“

The original sauce is still the best for the Tri-Tip sandwich. I ordered the tri-tip and the precooked ribs; absolutely amazing!! I purchased the sandwich to have as dinner at SFO but it was late; I waited until the next day and it was still amazing after I reheated it. I also found that I was given an extra side portion of the tri-tip meat on the side. I picked up some extra seasonings that I was not able to find at home (Florida). Was it worth the drive from Sacramento? Absolutely just to pickup some Kinder's; I would do it again in a heartbeat.“
