“I have always enjoyed the Terrace Lounge and the spectacular views. I have also me some wonderful people here and have wonderful memories. Some of my fondest memories are from past holidays and how I enjoyed the beautiful holiday decorations and the Christmas tree inside of the Lodge. I remember when they had someone play the piano and how lucky I was to have experienced it all. Although I live locally I haven’t been in the Lodge for awhile. I am often in the area because I pick up my mail , etc at the post office but just have not been in this amazing place for sometime nearly a year maybe longer. Anyways this is definitely a special place worth visiting.“
“We typically enjoy coming here but today it was very crowded - we opted to have dinner in the bar area which was a mistake. The food was delicious and the bartender/server was gracious but the bar was very loud & inconsiderate to us and the other patrons dining. It wouldn’t be bad if the prices were reflective of the bar crowd. The Italian host/maybe owner is kind. We will of course come back but don’t dine in the bar if you want a special seafood dinner in Monterey (make a reservation!) Our fault!Parking: Paid parking lot, must enter your license plate number. Not worth paying for a Sunday dinner, the lot isn’t crowded at all.“

“This is the perfect place to sample a variety of delicious tapas. We had the Brussels sprouts, Coca Catalan, patatas bravas, crispy mushroom and burrata, croquetas de jamon and jamon Serrano y manchego. All were beautifully presented and tasty. The red sangria was lovely and the desserts were a perfect ending - Basque cheesecake, Crema Catalana and a trio of delicious ice cream - banana, strawberry and coffee. This is my second time here, and I will return for more of the scrumptiousness. The service was professional and attentive. .“
“This place is now called Spotted Duck. (I wonder when TripAdvisor will pick up on this). It was our first time and we were early. I had the halibut special with a Bernardus Sauv blanc. It came sitting on some black rice, topped with lobster pieces, arugula, and some cubed watermelon. There was some kind of green sauce spread on the plate to compliment the dish. It was pretty. The flavors came together very well. I thought it was a great dinner main. My husband had the sautéed rock cod with artichokes, puréed potatoes, and capers with some brown butter sauce. He said his fish was salty but at least it was offset by the bland potatoes and vinegared artichokes. We shared some beignets with salted honey on the side for dessert. The rosemary sugar coating was good enough for me. But my husband enjoyed the salted honey. Our service was great. Our server was congenial, attentive and patient. He was quite informative too. All in all a pleasant meal. Maybe we will try the duck next time.“
“This bar is the type of clubby leather clad place that is perfect for a “final final”. The bartenders give great service and there is a wide selection of scotches and bourbons and cognac. There are also several televisions and they serve a limited menu of pub food. Sit by the fireplace and relax after fighting the winds at Spanish Bay.“
