“MJ sushi is surprisingly affordable and thereby amazing for families! My surprise favorite was the TAKOYAKI. Primarily appetizers and rolls here, plus 3 rice bento selections, so you're not going to find udon or nabes. The rolls were great with fresh tasting fish, while the chicken and salmon teriyaki were very understated in flavor but add some soy sauce and you're good to go. Food arrives really fast and it's a huge restaurant so usually no wait to get a table. There were a lot of groups and families eating here, so we fit right in.“

The only negative is they are very busy so our dinner felt a bit rushed. But if you are looking for good food, this place is one of the best Japanese restaurants on the peninsula.“

“I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this sushi place! The prices might be a little high for the amount you get, but the quality is absolutely there. As long as you keep in mind that you might need to order a little more than normal to fill up, this is an excellent place to get sushi from.

The only not-so-great thing is that the chopsticks they gave me had jagged pieces of wood coming off them, and I got a bit of a splinter, but that's okay I won't hold it against them. 😆“

Salmon toro and Ebodai (butter fish) were also tender, but the o toro was unmatched. Honestly could’ve passed on the yellowtail maki, it was very rice-y but still good. I’ve been here at least ten times now, and each visit feels just as exciting as the first. The consistency, creativity, and attention to detail are what make this place stand out in the Bay Area dining scene.

One of the best things about Robin is the flexibility of the menu. You can choose à la carte if you have favorites in mind, or you can go for the omakase and let the chefs guide your evening. I’ve experienced both, and I can honestly say you can’t go wrong either way. The omakase is particularly special — every dish arrives beautifully plated, with flavors that are fresh, innovative, and balanced. The fish quality is always top-notch, from the buttery otoro to the delicate hamachi, and the chefs often surprise you with unique touches that make each course memorable.

The à la carte options are equally impressive, especially if you want to revisit your favorites. They are always friendly I'm willing to do whatever you ask to you're liking to accommodate your sushi experience! At this spot I always get the most sushi rolls for what my money is worth!! “Great omakase, dry age sushi is a unique experience in the Bay Area and I’d say in the US in general. The dry age lean blue fin tuna was an amazing experience. The sake pairing was very good as well and was enjoyable as I slowly went through my course. I got to sit counter side with the chef and had a wonderful time with my friends. Very imitate lighting in the space and an experience. My friends and I noted the music played is interesting choice but amusing for us as we were having a good time“

“Family run spot in San Bruno. Located on El Camino Real, it's easy to miss if you drive by.

The restaurant itself isn't too large, but there's seating for groups of all sizes. The menu is pretty extensive and has a good variety. We ended up getting a sashimi combo, one roll, and the lamb appetizer.

The sashimi itself was pretty tasty with no fishy smell. We got a good variety of sashimi, but my favorite was the salmon. The lamb was delicious as well and we're a good size.

Service is good and the staff is nice. We got our drinks refilled often without us asking.“

“Not my usual sushi diner, but we wanted to try out a new place. This restaurant has 2 stories with a staircase.

The service was average. The serving staff couldn’t speak English. We didn’t know Spanish so we had to communicate with body language to ask for some water. The staff that actually took our orders knew English, but he was missing the first 10 minutes, counting from when we finished scanning the menu.

The food was very good. Fresh sashimi and sushi rolls. The only thing that could be improved was the plain udon. As far as I know, even Japanese plain udon contains seaweed, fish cakes and tempura crumbs. This one had none. Literally, just udon and broth, not even chopped green onions.

Vegetarian options: They have veggie dishes, look for the descriptions.

Parking: Free parking after 6pm

Kid-friendliness: Kid’s high chairs and plastic utensils

Wheelchair accessibility: I think first floor dining area is for disabilities and elders.“

It was a little confusing how to order. I just grabbed a set bowl they had. I'm not picky about food and I enjoyed every bite.

I do wish the space was cleaner. As a business owner I didn't always have the cleanest spaces and I recognize that in hindsight and this is kind of the thing that even if you didn't want to dine in, sticks out like a sore thumb

That's why often I take photos of my reciept and the bathroom of spaces for my reviews.

“This place is ASTRONOMICAL. Sushi is cheap for the area, is extremely flavorful, and the attention to detail on some of these rolls are just chefs kiss. I come here very often to get food and it is highly enjoyed by me and friends. If your in the area and are craving sushi this is the place to go. One (extremely) small downside is for the tuna. Sometimes it's color is very light and is sometimes chopped in smaller rolls like the smaller tuna roll. Other than that everything is PERFECT“
