“We were at a friend's birthday dinner. It was very good! The whole front area was filled with her friends! The birthday person had karaoke, which was very nice!! It is great when you are a regular there!!! Thanks so much for allowing something special for a special friend.Parking: On street parking was the only way to park, so it was difficult to join the great friends. Fortunately, we make it!“
“Best nigiri I have ever eaten. The fish literally melts in your mouth. The portions were a bit small and we left hungry with spending about $25 per person, but the quality and freshness made it worth it. Staff was very attentive and service was excellent. Would be perfect for date nights or small groups. Definitely will be back!“
“Fresh poke with a truffle twist! We were both pretty thrilled with how good the poke was. The fish is very high quality, the portions were generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the truffle aioli is *chef's kiss*. We definitely recommend one of the chef bowls if you can't figure out what to get. We enjoyed both Raffy's pick and King Kong, and the White Truffle Taro Chips side.Unfortunately the staff was a bit underwhelming. They seemed a bit grumpy, and forgot several add-ons, even though the store wasn't busy at all.Regardless, we will definitely be stopping by again!Vegetarian options: I mean most of a poke bowl is veges, but the star is the seafood.Parking: Follow the signs to the free lot around the corner.“
“I've been going here for a while now, I'm happy that they have expanded their menu a bit. The place as you enter is nice and modern looking. I love the display of various sake bottles. We were greeted and seated right away upon entering. We ordered:1. Calamari- Crispy and lightly fried. Not overly battered or greasy. Nice way to start our meal.2. Gyoza - This is one of my usual go-to's. It's simple and lightly fried. Perfect size to just pop in your mouth. Something about it just hits the spot.3. Cold sake - It was a cold and rainy day, but for some reason, it hit the spot. It came in the cutest yet stylish bottle, where the ice to keep it chilled was right in the middle. I'm curious to see if next time they have something a little smoother.4. Gekikara roll - This had a lot of flavor, and everything just complimented each other perfectly.5. Tonkatsu bento box - For this one, I ordered the one that came with vegetable tempura and california rolls. Everything was amazing. Portions were perfect. I actually didn't finish it all and took the rest home.6. Banana tempura with ice cream - I was a little disappointed with this. I expected the banana to be crispier. It was soggy and greasy. Ice cream was good. We got it with green tea ice cream.Highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back and try the udon and other items. Service wasn't bad. I totally understand since it was so busy, and only one server. That follow-up wasn't the best“
“All in, 4*sThe food was good don’t worry. But it wasn’t as exceptional as I’d thought it’d be. Maybe I’m being harsh by taking a star away for the appetizer(Katsu), but the sushi rolls were fantastic. We had the Boddy and soul (5* Must try) and the surprise ending (which literally comes with suspense) - I won, it was fun!Boddy and soul was exceptional, the service was amazing, and so were the vibes.Recommended?: Yes!“
“Ken is the ultimate omakase experience. With just 7 seats, one enters and will immediately feel special. Ken is gracious and so welcoming, sweetly beaming as he shares details about each dish as he presents to you. The entire evening was exquisite - tastes we have never experienced before in a beautiful serene and modern atmosphere. We highly recommend Ken and cannot wait to return.“
“Incredible flavors and a lovely, cozy dining experience. We felt so well taken care of by Tricia and our sushi chef and they made celebrating our anniversary really memorable. The unique flavor combinations and quality of the fish were so good. Some of our favorites from the oki: the ora king salmon, the sea bream, the otoro and the sashimi salad with the shiso flowers. The chef explained each course and paced our meal so we never felt rushed. The sake selection is awesome as well with really unique and different flavors like the takacho "regal hawk" that would be great on its own for sipping and the very plummy ume suppai. Next time I might pick the chisai and try more supplements. We left feeling comfortably full and satisfied.“
“Ju Ni in San Francisco is an exceptional dining experience that deserves no less than five stars. Specializing in Japanese cuisine, the restaurant offers an intimate and meticulously crafted menu that showcases the finest ingredients and culinary skills. Holding two Michelin stars for two years is a testament to its consistent quality and innovation. The chef at Ju Ni is not only professional but also engaging and interesting, adding a unique touch to the dining experience. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking an unparalleled sushi experience in San FranciscoP.S. I believe the dinner menu starts around 200 per person. Adding drink and some other items, it’s around 300$ per person.“
“It was always pleasant to experience chef making your the nigiri in front of you.My favorite dish from the menu was:Honmaguro Toro Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anago Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Kamasu Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Hojicha Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Recommended to visit this restaurant to experience high quality Japanese cuisine!“
“We had a wonderful experience! The staff were professional, friendly, informative, and even helped cater to our specific dining needs as a family. A la carte extras (from same omakase menu) could be ordered and were every fairly priced. We would 100% recommend.“
“This sushi place is simply outstanding! The food is spectacular! It’s an authentic Japanese sushi, not an American version of sushi. The place is not cheap but it’s worth every dollar! Great place for a special occasion! Highly recommended!“
“One of my favorite sushi experiences ever, and I've been to Japan. The service was so exceptional that I almost started to feel bad. The food was fresh, innovative, and incredibly fresh. The vibe and ambiance were great. 10/10 would highly recommend if you can afford it.“
“My first visit to this new Kuma location. If you enjoy good sushi Kuma is the place to go in San Francisco. We go to Kuma every time I'm in San Francisco to see my daughter and I feel like the food and experience is better each time. I highly recommend the tuna collar. I've never had it anywhere else and it is awesome!“
“Ordered the Barley Taps roll and salmon, yellowtail, kinmedai, torched scallop nigiri. Enjoyed all of it! The quality of the fish was really good, my favorite being the kinmedai, ordering it twice.Walked in around 6pm on a Wednesday and there was space. Seems like a great neighborhood spot, not too uptight, but with quality Nigri.“
““Fusion” omakase. Expensive but very well executed, everything we were served was delicious. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to get the full experience, our chefs at tables 9 and 10 were fun and engaging throughout service. The sake omakase was underwhelming, but YMMV, our drinks server was busy as he was serving the entire joint, on a different night, it might have been better.“
“Wow. An incredible omakase experience! Had the 18-course dinner, sitting at the chefs counter and I could not be more impressed by the quality and creativity of the food presented! Each course was distinct, delicious, flavorful, and there was nothing “basic” or “common” that was served. My favorites were the chawan-mushi, otoro, uni on uni, Hokkaido scallop and uni, Kyoto-style pressed saba, kelp-cured flounder fin… and more!A few minor critiques: the wagu sukiyaki was tender and delicious, but tasted too sweet. The miso soup was overly salty. And the yuzu sorbet had nice flavor but was served hard like an ice cube.Would definitely return to dine again. Recommended.“
“A phenomenal omakase experience. The customer service and food is top notch. Recommended for either those who fly solo or are looking for an intimate dinner date. Not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for; which, in this case, is the quality and experience. Reservations are recommended since there are only 12 to 16 seats - walk in without a reservation at your own risk. Will be visiting again at some point.“
“Definitely get here early or be prepare to wait! The service is A+! I got the omakase and it was very well put together. A reasonable price for a 10 piece, there were a few scales here and there, and the miso soup was slightly too sweet but very worth the price!“
“An amazing omakase experience in SF and reasonably priced. All the sushi was so fresh and paired well with the different flavors. Even their non-sushi dishes were wonderful and their ice dessert was amazing. Make a reservation because they’re very small and fill up quickly“
“Truly for "Friends Only!" Ten seats at an "L"-shaped raw bar. Got to chat and share experiences with all the guests AND the staff. Made a lot of "Friends" tonight and got to share dining at its finest and food of superior quality and taste!“
“Their selection is great. It’s one of the few sushi places where they have makimono that emphasizes fish over rice + other fillings (not that I don’t also love the standard American sushi options, but it’s nice to have a leaner, simpler option). The veggie side dishes are also amazing - the eggplant is charred and juicy but not drowning terribly in oil, and okra is also really good. They also do delivery, which makes it a great casual option.“
“They have omakase, which I would very much recommend. It's one bite of everything, and the chef makes it right there. Don't worry, you'll be full by the end lolDietary restrictions: They ask you when about allergies and restrictions when you sit down so you'll be fine unless you have a seafood allergy“
“We decided to visit Sura Sushi for a casual workday late dinner. Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We started with Buri Daikon soup, which provided comforting warmth.Opting for a selection of Nigiri and Sashimi, we were thoroughly impressed. Each piece showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. From the Chu Toro to the O Tor, Engawa to Sunazuri, and Hotate, every bite was a symphony of flavors and freshness. Highly recommend this place.“
“MUST visit omakase restaurant in San Francisco! This is a perfect omakase restaurant that deserves a rating higher than five stars. Our chef is incredibly passionate and friendly, and the service staff are also very accommodating. The overall dining atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.Everything was handled perfectly and the seasoning of seafood, allowed us to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients. It's a truly amazing dining experience! Would definitely revisit again!“
“The handrolls are very tasty, although quite small. One person could easily eat six alone. The service felt a bit stiff, and the stools definitely work best with squishy butts. Overall I'm happy I finally gave them a try, although I'm not in a hurry to go back.“
“I can’t believe I never reviewed this restaurant. We eat here regularly at the restaurant and for takeout. The food is delicious for adults and for children. My son really loves the salmon teriyaki and the veggie sushi; I love their unique appetizers / tapas and their sushi. Reliable and one of the best restaurants in Castro and Noe.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly“
“Walked in to the quiet and unassuming location and left sated and with an overly full belly!I began with a spicy tako salad - a perfect mix of tako, cucumber, seawead and a sprig of mint. Enough spice to feel for a few minutes afterwards while my sushi was being prepared.First up was a trio of Salmon belly, Hamachi belly, and Toro. Each one was more delicated and delicious than the previous. Next were two great pieces of Ama Ebi with perfectly fried heads. The Sexy Roll followed - a mixture of Hamachi and avacado topped with more Hamachi, Green tobiko and jalapeno. My desert round was Mackerel, Scallop, and the Buddhilicous Roll. The service was exceptional and the value for what I paid was outstanding. My only negative was self-inflicted and that's because I only found this spot on my last free evening in town.I'll be back for sure...“
“Ordered pickup online but accidentally ordered to the other location. They were super kind and remade the order for me here. They even called the other location to confirm my order because I couldn’t find my email. Can’t wait to go back!“
“First time at Rocket Sushi.I had the Tonkatsu Curry at my friend's recommendation and it was delicious. My friend ordered the udon and ate every bit.Service was good. We dined on a Monday so the atmosphere was pretty mellow and everyone seemed to be having a good time.Would definitely go back.“
“Quaint clean hole in the wall, tucked back in a business industrial park. Staff is friendly, attentive and the food is of quality with plenty of selections for anyone. I liked it so much I went for 3 evenings in a row, ate and drank something different every time. I went right when they opened at 5pm, go early, fills up quick on some nights! Worth it.“
“Sashimi and brussel sprouts were excellent! Very fresh and full of flavor. The rolls were also fresh but we didn't love the flavor combinations. They do have several spicy options and if you like the heat then you should give them a try! Staff were friendly and the service was quick.“
“Both the main dish and the side dish are a sure-fire meal every time. I was surprised that the restaurant was empty this time, even though it is difficult to make a reservation. This is the extent of the impact of people not coming to downtown SF. I have to support you!“
“We came here for late night dinner - fresh sashimi is 10 out of 10 ?Vegetarian options: I saw some vegetarian options on the menuParking: It’s always plenty of parking around or cross streetKid-friendliness: Yes, big dining room and I saw high chairs for little kids tooWheelchair accessibility: Yes, they have big dining room so wheelchair can move freely and bathroom is also big and it’s ok for wheelchair“
“A small casual sushi restaurant on geary. They have a variety of rolls and appetizers. They dont serve bento boxes, but do serve some rice bowls. Service was quick and we noticed a lot of people ordering to go. We ordered edamame, chicken karage, CA roll, SF roll, caterpillar roll, cherry blossom roll, and rainbow roll. Our food came out quickly. The edamame came out hot and topped with salt. The chicken karage was a decent portion for 2 with fairly big pieces and came with spicy mayo sauce. The rolls were fresh and had good amount of fish. The cherry blossom roll was our favorite. We kept our expectations low but we were thoroughly impressed by the food, especially with affordable prices. Highly recommend this place and will be coming again soon.“
“The atmosphere is extremely elegant, the fish is high quality and well prepared and presented. I have been to over 30 sushi restaurants in the city of SF and Otoro Sushi is literally the best quality sushi experience you can get for the price. The service is always pleasant. I cannot compliment this restaurant enough.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are on par in quality and artisanal skill with the fish dishes. One of the only places where the vegetarian rolls feel like a real consideration rather than an afterthought. I take all my vegetarian friends here. The futomaki and the pickles are a highlight. I genuinely get the futomaki over fish rolls sometimes.“
“This is such a hidden gem and perfect late night dive spot (in a good way)! It’s giving Dave the Diver (iykyk). We came around 11pm on a Friday night and were greeted by ALL the staff when we walked in, as if we were old friends. The service was prompt and sushi is fun and delicious! I recommend experimenting— I loved the pokemon roll!At add to that, the atmosphere was so cool and authentic and the live DJ was killing it! I was searching for the dance floor.10/10 would recommend and will be back.“
“A good sushi place with a rotating seasonal selection of uncommon fish. The fish is fresh, the price reasonable and the sake selection is good. Service is a bit slow though when we were there. It took about an hour for 7 types of nigiri to be served. Seems like the chefs were overwhelmed with orders even when the restaurant is just full, not packed.“
“Made a reservation for a Friday night and had a peaceful experience. The ambience is clean with traditional Japanese elements, and still modern music. I ordered the Sake Oyako Donburi and it was some of the freshest seafood I’ve had in the Bay Area. I also ordered the brown rice tea which wasn’t too hot and comforting. I’m looking forward to coming back to try the omakase.“
“The atmosphere reminds me of Japan. The food tastes better than a lot of food I've had in Japan. Lunch or dinner served with tea, miso soup & rice. I love the Katsu chicken comes with a salad, too. All for $12.00!!! Might as well order the special or sushi with these prices. Making me hungry as I type! The service is attentive without being intrusive. The TV display and music were perfect. Clean tasting, fresh food, and clean restaurant. Not Zen feeling, but a genuine casual dining Japanese experience.Parking: Street meters until 6pm, always parking in front.Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entryway.“
“Food was great and staff are polite. You order on an iPad and bring your food out to you, which was to use easy and convenient.Too much plastic waste for dine in orders though. Trash can was overflowing from disposable containers thrown out by customers exiting the restaurant.“
“I took my partner here for his birthday and it did not disappoint! The service, the ambiance, and most importantly, the food were all fantastic. There wasn't an average element to any part of the omakase and the service was impeccable. Would love to visit again!“
“Unassuming, somewhat hidden, but hands down, these guys need a bigger place and to be well known! I know that sushi in the Bay Area has a good rep… But I was certainly not expecting the quality that I got here tonight. I basically ordered off of the specials menu after I started with the SB Uni. Ama Ebi to Otoro, and everything was melt in your mouth fresh and delicious. If I could do it over again, I would have definitely gone with the Omakase because these sushi chefs will not disappoint!“
“I came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. She had Nirigi Omakase and I had Chef's Omakase. It's only 10 bucks difference. Nirigi Omakase included uni. Chef included strawberry mochi but no uni. The sashimi of fish was fresh and soft. It could melt in your mouth. Toro is my fav. I also ordered wagyu and unagi. Of course, the wagyu beef was tasty, which I prefer to eat it last, so the taste could last longer in your mouth. I love unagi, so it was a must to order. This place was the third restaurant where I could truly have fresh eel. It was so good and I wish I had ordered one more. Very high quality of sashimi. Excellent services. Everything was good, except one point. The suggested tips included taxes. Basically you pay tips for taxes if you go with their suggestion tips. That needs to be changed. Anyways I would come back for more. Thank you.“
“Just had the absolute best time at Big Fish House! Not only was the food delicious - I had the incredible Omakase (19 items, 150$) while my friends had multiple rolls including double toro and the kumomoto oysters which were fantastic - but the entire experience was so fun! Julie is the owner and is pursuing her passion in cooking / sushi and provided all the pieces of sushi amazingly. Additionally Wendy, a longtime friend of Julie I learned, is so friendly and patient and provides great recommendations and drinks! The restaurant was always visited by regulars who knew the staff with open space and just great vibes. We stayed way longer than anticipated just because it was so fun - will definitely be back soon!!“
“Great fish, service and atmosphere. I really like how they have fish imported from Japan sushi market. Some options that you can't find easily. My daughter loved their California roll made with real crab meat and I love their Negitoro Maki.I will definitely come back here again.Parking: 3-4 spots in the driveway of the restaurant“
“Tiny restaurant with a smattering of tables and a chefs counter. Definitely try for the counter if you’re alone or a party of 2 (or 6)Do not attempt to walk in at least on a weekend; saw 2 or 3 couples make an attempt only to be sent away“
“Need to go back. Arrived and saw the sign on door said closed. Waved through the glass at worker inside, he came and opened the door and welcomed us in. Regardless of the fact it said “reservations only” on the door, because there was only one other party eating, I think he was okay with us dining. The entire operation was one man whose service and food was simple and satisfying. No frills. For the price is it unbeatable. Atmosphere feels like you found a small sushi spot in a corner of Tokyo. Really great experience.“
“Atmosphere was awesome, such great vibes. Food was delicious, high quality and very very well made. Obviously the sushi rolls were good, but the appetizers were awesome too!We came as a part of four, were seated immediately at the bar and had an awesome time enjoying wonderful food!“
“Amazing find! Quick counter service or grab and go items available (bento, rice balls, bowls / donburi). Selection features many classic Japanese flavors using local ingredients.Combinations vary or you can pick out items à la carte, but everything is worth it and delicious. We got combos and added items to have a feast that did not break the bank. Our meals easily could have cost $30.I highly recommend the agedashi tofu (veg main), mapo eggplant salad (with chicken or the vegetarian version), potato croquette, shrimp cake (huge but with whole shrimps and cooked to perfection). I would definitely return to try out their curry ? options (beef or mushroom) and possibly any seasonal changes.Service was amazing with all condiments and utensils provided with proper packaging. Service was quick despite a slight lunch weekday rush.No seating in the space itself, but plenty of shared outdoor tables or a few chairs near windows inside near Cholita Linda.Vegetarian options: At least one vegetarian salad (Japanese side dish), soup, or main available. On my visit, they were vegetarian mapo eggplant salad (possibly other options, I did not look closely at selection), ginger carrot soup, and agedashi tofu main (cold tofu with soy based and mushroom sauce). Mushroom curry was also available.“
“2024-03-18 - Amami San consistently delivers amazing sushi @ incredible prices.Awesome everything - and amazing prices. Still amazing! This place has the best ? at the best prices. . .2023-11-01 - update. - if anything they just keep getting better!“
