“We came here after a long urban hike with ravenous appetites. It was late noon but cafe was moderately full. Soon we were seated, welcomed with house special cauliflower & lavender soups. It was delicious and moth watering. I ordered potatoe and sage torte along with lemon & blueberry tart. Trust me ! We all had sumptuous lunch here. I will highly recommend this place who love vegan foods. I am sure ,here you will enjoy foods too.“
“I went there because it was recommended to me by a Turkish friend. All the dishes were delicious, but my favorite was the short ribs. It's juicy, tender, and has the perfect amount of aromatic spices. It's always popular and crowded, so we recommend making reservations. The atmosphere inside the store is homey, and the staff is very friendly. This is a restaurant where you can fully enjoy Mediterranean cuisine and a stylish atmosphere. Since I went there for dinner, I would definitely like to try their popular brunch next time.“
“Definitely get here early or be prepare to wait! The service is A+! I got the omakase and it was very well put together. A reasonable price for a 10 piece, there were a few scales here and there, and the miso soup was slightly too sweet but very worth the price!“
“A must try when in SF. I have had some of the best sushi from Japan and believe me when I say Maruya is spot on. From the classy upscale japanese ambience to its outstanding staff and ownership, you simply cannot find better sushi anywhere else that rivals Maruya in The Bay area and even some locals in Japan. Japanese Imported fish makes all the difference. You will enjoy a relaxed, calming dining experience that will put you at ease and one you will cherish. But, hey -don't just take my word for it. Get to Maruya and see for yourself. It is most certainly worth it! Oh and don't forget the sake...ENJOY!“
“This is an excellent find in a city with nowhere near enough good south indian places, especially post pandemic! We tried several things and they were all great: very good ingredients, deep flavours, very good portion sizes! Can't wait to go back, only sad that I've missed 10mos of it's being in existence :)“
“Review only reflects drink and appetizer at bar and several doordash orders: in short, it doesn't matter if they aren't Michelin rated, this place is still fantastic! I'm not a mixed drink person, but I ordered the amma sutra, and it blew my taste buds away. If you don't like smoke, then this drink isn't for you. For me, it's easily one of the best smoky drinks I have ever had without the wood smoke. Also had the prawns and they were smothered in a finger licking good sauce.“
“Meet the restaurant of the future! Great vegan dishes, smart ordering system and fast and efficient kitchen. We were impressed. The restaurant is spacious, a lot of light, beautiful design and very clean. The hosts are very helpful. Most important: the food is delicious! Even if you are not a vegan, try it!Kids loved it too, they had the best hamburger ever (quote).Kid-friendliness: Healthy and tasty, great value for money“
“A latecomer to the Vacant to Vibrant pop-up series. I walked by several times hoping they'd open and finally they did! It was definitely worth the wait since Senegalese food is very unique in the FiDi (and even San Francisco) and it's delicious!Pizza Pulaar: A really unique "pizza" and much heartier than typical flat breads. The nice butternut squash paste made it hearty and flavorful. The generous amount of cheese was crucial to be pizza-like. And all the wonderful spices gave it so much personality. Plus the fresh pomegranate seeds were a great seasonal touch. High recommend!Senegalese Street Style Spaghetti Sandwich: It was like they took a basic Italian spaghetti and meat sauce then added a bunch of yummy African spices. Definitely a nice zing. A tad carby, but so good! Though I must say there were some skeptical reactions when I posted pics on social media. My recommendation is just try it yourself!Chicken Drumsticks Teranga: While the other dishes are tasty, they seem a bit sparse on protein. So adding these to your order is a nice way to upgrade your meal. It would just be a regular old baked drumstick, except for the delish sauce! It's got a nice tang and tons of spices. They should seriously sell bottles of that stuff to upgrade your chicken at home.Mango Kalamata Olive Salad: Kinda tastes like a regular salad, that happens to have fresh mangos in it. Lots of healthy veggies, but the least flavorful of the items I tried.Maafe Bowl: It wasn't the maafe I was expecting, but it was the maafe I needed. I thought it would have a stronger peanut taste, kinda like satay. Turned out to be packed with tons of flavors and just a little peanut undertones. It was hearty, thick and spicy. Pretty filling for vegetarian, with lots of nice chunks of root veggies and squash. I made sure to get every bit of that delicious sauce with the stray bits of rice left over.Love Potion: Lots of flavor in this little bottle. A little thick, so I added some sparkling mineral water in a glass with this and turned it into a refreshing spritzer. Though it's also enjoyable as a thicker drink by itself; flavor is not overwhelming just a bit of viscous texture.“
“Vegan cuisine (non-religious)Ethiopian cuisine, very interesting to try. The menu has a large QR code on the transparent partition at the cashier counter, and you can see the picture by scanning it. If you have no clue, just choose the most popular area. In addition, they also have traditional staple dishes, which look like burritos but taste like cakes, and they also have rice options. The service is very homely and friendly, it looks like a three-generation family restaurant. The taste can also be adjusted, such as adding spiciness or if you don’t want onions. There are many street residents in this neighborhood, so the lights are a little dim at night. In addition, the sign at the entrance is not very obvious. Although it is a store with large floor-to-ceiling glass, it is easy to miss it at night, so open your Google Navigation.Oh, I forgot to mention: very delicious!Recommend you to give it a try!Paid parking is available on the street.Vegetarian options: Vegan (non-religious)Dietary restrictions: Ethiopian meals“
“I took a lot of accidental live photos here, I would have preferred stagnant. I just wanted to capture one moment, I didn't need any of the moments leading up to that one moment. I'll smile for photos because I want to believe I'm happy in most moments of my life. Live photos are showing me that sometimes I look miserable right before smiling. Anyway, at least food doesn't change much with live photos. It looked and tasted great.“
“This is the best Thai Vegetarian food we had in a long time. Perfect spices. The Pumpkin curry was divine. Also the Pra-Ram is very delicious. .I wish we would live closer, I would eat here once a week. I want to return and try other dishes.“
“I've worked in the area over 8 years and admittedly walked past this place. Today I'm glad I stopped by! Looking for a quick snack or a meal Peasant Pies will fill both. Great location with plenty of seating and friendly staff make it an ideal spot for BLD! Savory and Sweet pies in a perfect portion will give a sandwich a run for the $. Pro Tip: Try the sauces on the savory pies! Recommend and will be back.“
“Really good!! I've been impressed by everything I've had here throughout several visits, and I love how there are some unusual dishes you don't see too often on Indian menus, like the egg curry and the eggplant in salan sauce. And the interior is really nice -- I love those cute pillows they have on the booths. Don't miss out on one of the best Indian restaurants in the city!“
“A casual Palestinian eatery. It is on El Camino and has its own parking lot. When we went on a weekday for lunch, there was plenty of parking. You can see the smoke and smell the grill meats from the parking lot. The friendly owner recommended the combination plates where you can pick your own protein and three sides. The beef and lamb Shawarma was a bit dry but the serving size is huge. I had hummus, baba ghanoush, and tabbouleh side dishes, all very delicious. The owner claimed they have the best falafel in the country. he wasn’t joking when I tasted one. The outside was crispy and crunchy, and the inside was soft and flavorful, definitely one of the best falafels that I’ve had. Next time, if I come back, I will definitely orders some falafels as the protein. Their grilled chicken Kebab or Shawarma seemed very popular too - many other guests were ordering that. Price was reasonable for the area.Parking: Dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant“
“Amazing vegan food - really love that it tastes and feels healthy. Have had a delicious brekkie bowl and burger for food and great smoothies. Coffee is really good as well. Definitely 5 stars for the food.Atmosphere is a bit sad and boring honestly. And service is virtually non existent. Am I paying a 20% tip to get my own water, utensils and straw for the smoothie? And then clear the table myself after I’m done? Come on, that’s too bad.Would recommend for the vegan food, but don’t expect any service of cozy atmosphere.“
“We enjoyed a birthday dinner here before a basketball game and absolutely loved the atmosphere. It is lively, yet cozy, with an open kitchen, which looks filled with wonderful chefs doing their magic. Still, despite the creative yummy plates, prices ate both justified. And we all absolute despised the black sheep meatballs (vegan) as it tasted gamey, strong, salty and was churning in our stomachs for hours on. Stay away from it and you’ll be in good hands here.PS: that was the beat cheese naan ever!!“
“Really delicious, simple vegan food, but pretty small portion for the price. I got the brekkie bowl and asked for it for here but it came out in a Togo container. No problem, except the Togo container was pretty small, almost the size of a cup of soup. It was also super hard to stir with this tiny bowl. Not sure if it's only the Togo size that has this portion, but looks substantially larger on the menu.“
“Great spot for vegetarian food. Their takes on non veg dishes are pretty great. We had fried rice with “pork” and “ham” that had good flavor and texture. The noodles with chicken are great as well. We weren’t a fan of the soup we got but everything else was appetizing and filling. I’m not vegetarian but can see myself coming again since it’s nearby and would definitely bring vegetarian friends to check it out.“
“In a city where you can always find a good Indian restaurant it's really amazing found yourself surprised by this hidden gem that brings you a taste of authentic and pure Indian dishes and the complexity of the ingredients that mixed together so well. Each bite reveals a harmonious blend of flavors, a testament to the culinary skill and care put into their preparation. What's equally impressive is the ambiance of the place; even when packed, it maintains a serene and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff deserves special mention for their kindness and attentiveness. Their proactive approach ensures that you're always well taken care of, eliminating the need to ask for anything. This establishment not only serves exquisite food but also provides a remarkable dining experience that makes you feel genuinely valued.“
“The pies are great. Am partial to the beef and potato pie, chicken pot pie, and the ham egg and cheese pie. The veggie options are also very good. The pies don't seem that big but they are filling. If you like sweets the berry, vanilla, and chocolate flans are all delicious too. Wonderful neighborhood place!“
“It's clean and bright, the service is warm, and there are many food choices. There are Chinese and English menus. They are very delicious, the portions are large, and the prices are affordable. If two people order five dishes and can't finish them, they have to take them away. We did not choose starch for the main meal. We recommend that if you are used to ordering staple food, just two to three dishes for two people to avoid being unable to finish the meal.recommend!“
“Brilliant little hole in the wall with amazing vegetarian Chinese food. They also have a busy take out counter for dumplings and puffs and such. If you are vegetarian, this is your Chinatown destination.Vegetarian options: You can't go wrong on anything here.“
“Go to takeout spot in the neighborhood. Everything is great, but have a soft spot for their butter chicken and garlic naan. We've eaten inside and taken to-go, and it's always a great experience when you're craving something bursting with flavor.“
“Khob khun ka ขอบคุณค่ะA local, family-ran Thai eatery boasting an authentic and all vegetarian vibrant, flavorsome and mouth-drooling menu at low-key fare off of chinatown. They have a plethora of tofu-based dishes and also do a bunch of their own special homemade veggie imitation proteins.I got the Pad Baby Corn Tofu and Pad Eggplant Tofu which were incredibly yummy, very well seasoned with a knockout flavor and plentiful portions and a nice texture.Support local businesses!“
“This place is family run and all the folks working are punjabi’s . So the food is really authentic north indian punjabi food. Their kababs are sizzling and cooked right so absolutely delicious. The butter chicken kids ate was very good too. It’s hard to find really good indian restaurants in the bay area though we have so many to choose from here. This one is a keeper. Their prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food they serve.Kind of small cute place with not many tables. I think they get lot of togo orders. We enjoyed dining in. The decor was very punjabi and gave us a dhaba feel. They had some good indian beer which went really well with the kababs“
“Had A Nice Lunch with a old high school friend of mine and we had both never been here before and I have been meaning to want to try this place for years. Now I have and the atmosphere is very Elegant and and the People are Kind and The Food is quite good but I had a problem that day with some soreness on my Tongue and it kinda hampered on my taste buds fully enjoying the meal. But I will come back to this place again.Vegetarian options: Meatless Chicken and other Meatless food“
“If Google says 'permanently closed' then Google is poetically wrong on this one. They've been having an issue with GoogleMaps saying that and it's apparently impacting their business. So, if you see that, just give them a call to confirm. We did, and I'm so happy for it.This place is great. You have to try the Tea Leaf Salad. My friend ordered it for us, I never would have thought to try it but it was amazing. So was the goat curry. Great stuff.“
“I ordered curry noodle soup, the soup was rich and multi-layered, and the meat was tender. I took out a box of chestnut shortbread and it was delicious. It feels like the boss has put a lot of effort into the taste. Although it is reflected in the price, it is “
“Wonderfully good chinese, scallion pancakes, fried wings, seasame chicken, white rice & kung pao chicken - All very well cooked & overall well made.Clean & quiet inside with a nice gentle atmosphere.Easily the best chinese we have had across the board & has likely ruined our ability to go to low quality chinese places back home. Highly recommended between the food, service and proper prices.First try should definitely be in restaurant for the freshest experience.Vegetarian options: Large sections of the menu are dedicated to a meatless dish.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible including all tables in the restaurant.“
“I went here with my friend around Tuesday at noon and this place was packed! There was only one poor guy manning the entire front and he was definitely overwhelmed. This definitely echoed my experience when I went to White Elephant Thai restaurant (see my review and as this is a sister restaurant, I can't say that I'm surprised. I do feel bad for the servwe as he was waiting on tables, taking orders, and also preparing orders for delivery services too! When it comes to the food, it was definitely great that it was the sister restaurant of White Elephant because the quality, great portion sizes, and authentic flavor is all still there! We ordered the crab fried rice, pad see ew with beef, pad Thai with chicken, and another pad Thai with beef (we were planning dinner to go too hehe). The food came out pretty quick and had tons of flavor. Loved the quality and portions of the food here. As for ambiance, the restaurant is pretty small and has some cool murals on the two main walls. It was pretty packed and people were even waiting outside during this prime weekday lunchtime. As for parking, there is street parking so could be hit or miss! Overall, will definitely come back but would suggest more help for the staff in the front for better efficiency!“
