“I went to Annie's for the first time today and ordered the Mexicali sandwich and fries. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sandwich had just the right amount of spiciness to it with the chipotle sauce and jalapenos. The fries were amazing and crispy too. Everyone that works there was very attentive and super friendly. I live right around the corner and I will definitely be back to try the breakfast and mimosas. I told my husband it was a 10 out of 10.”

“Geartooth Alewerks is genuinely one of Placerville’s best hidden gems. It’s a family-owned brewery, and the whole family puts so much care into what they do. Mom runs the kitchen, Dad handles the smoking of the meats, and the brothers are usually out front making everyone feel welcome. They are some of the kindest, most generous people, and the whole place has such a friendly, relaxed, family-friendly, familiar atmosphere.

The food is just SO good. The smoked meats come out delicious and perfect every time. The smoked chicken thighs are incredibly juicy and flavorful. The nachos are amazing and the portions are seriously generous. I also love getting the mac and cheese with a smoked hot dog cut up on top. And if you are lucky enough to catch the short rib, get it with the mustard BBQ sauce. It will blow your mind. There's a whole lot of flavor and love coming out of that kitchen.

The drinks are hella good too, and award winning. Definitely try the Excuse Generator. They also have a flavorless alcoholic seltzer with different flavors you can add, which is such a fun idea and so yummy.

They play cool, obscure movies and shows on the projection screen, have trivia on Thursdays, support other local businesses, and have created a place that just feels comfortable and welcoming. You can come in, relax, eat ridiculously good food, have a great drink, and feel like you’re among friends. Places like Geartooth are exactly why supporting local businesses matters. We absolutely love it here!”

“This winery is one of the best! We visited for a wine tasting and the gentleman was so informative about the wines and how they are harvested, we couldn’t get enough of his knowledge! The wines, all six, that we selected on our own were excellent! We will probably join the club when we get home! Also, there is a picnic area that you can purchase a charcuterie board or cheese and crackers, spreads and dips to sit down and enjoy with your bottle of wine! It’s fantastic!”

They helped us choose what wines were the best and what they pair best with, along with aging times. Fairly priced and the wines are amazing. “We had the most wonderful experience at Spice Kitchen in Placerville! My husband ordered the Chicken Curry and I had the Lamb Korma — and both dishes were made to absolute perfection. The flavors were rich, authentic, and beautifully balanced. I love my food spicy, and the Lamb Korma was perfectly seasoned for me — full of warmth and depth — yet mild enough that my husband enjoyed every bite as well. That’s not an easy balance to strike! What truly makes this place special is the charming, quirky setup. The outdoor seating area is connected to a convenience store that offers local wines and an excellent selection of craft beers — such a fun and unexpected touch. The patio itself is incredibly inviting, complete with chandeliers and a rolling water fountain. It’s one of those places you simply have to see to appreciate. Even better, the convenience store clerk doubled as an excellent, classy waiter. The service was attentive, warm, and professional — completely unexpected in the best possible way. To top it off, the chef came out personally to greet us, and we were able to thank him ourselves for such an outstanding meal. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable. The reason we originally stopped in was because I’m scouting a fourth pit-stop location for my Mustang Car Club poker run in June. After this visit, I can confidently say — if they’ll have us — we will absolutely be stopping here. Great food, unique atmosphere, and a memorable experience all around. Highly recommend!”

“This place continues to go downhill in my opinion. We have been going there for years. But the last year we have stopped going much at all because the service is very hit and miss. A few good servers here and there. The food had also started to be not as good. We decided to try it again and for me this is probably the last time. The serving size for the price is pitiful. Especially the ridiculously small kids pizza for $12. It was burnt on the bottom besides. The garden sandwich sounded very good but was pitiful and served on a dry bun. The service was adequate but not friendly. Just disappointing again. This used to be one of my favorite places.”
