“Bacari Glendale: It is a beautiful place we have always wanted to go to. We took two friends for a belated birthday dinner (and as the staff realized it was just that, they even rewarded us with a delicious birthday dessert :-). Great service, nice ambiance, and delicious food - we had the bread (could have been a bit more for the $4,50), then shared the Mac & Cheese topped up with the pear and brie pizza that was the best.“

“Farmhouse kitchen is the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever had. On top of the food being great and delicious, the presentation makes you want to order everything from the menu. Chef Bo was so nice to come out to our table and all I can say is she was a very nice, young & talented person. She even made me a special dessert for my birthday. Thanks Bo❤️ I highly recommend this place if you want an authentic, excellent and delicious food. In addition, the place is so full of life. The decor is amazing! I can’t wait to go back and try some of the fancy drinks and dishes on the menu.“

“One of the best hidden gems in LA. I stumbled into this wine bar out of curiosity, and it quickly became one of my favorite places in the city—and now I’m a regular.
The wine selection is outstanding: an ever-changing, thoughtful assortment that goes beyond the usual bottles you’ll find elsewhere. Whether you’re a wine nerd or just getting into it, this is a place where you can discover something new every time.
What really makes it special is the staff. They’re not just knowledgeable—they genuinely care about sharing that knowledge in a welcoming, down-to-earth way. Ian, the owner, is incredible. He’s the reason I know anything about neutral wine now. His passion is contagious, and he’s always happy to break things down or suggest something based on your taste.
Whether you're looking to expand your palate or just enjoy a glass in a great atmosphere, this place delivers every time.“

“Great spot with creative offerings and an incredible wine list. Service was very welcoming and friendly and they were very accommodating when we got stuck in traffic and we were a little late for our reservation. My only critique would be they would benefit from serving coffee cocktails for dessert. There was a fancy espresso machine, and all the ingredients to make an espresso martini, but when we asked about one for dessert they said they’re more wine focused, which made sense and I’m a wine nerd myself, but half the bar was drinking regular martinis which was a little confusing.“

“they have an excellent selection of wine here & for a bar, their food dishes were impressive. the tater tots were crisp, the crab fettuccine was fresh, and the bread that came with the burrata was perfectly toasted. i was pleasantly surprised & would love to come back again!“

“The space is not very large, but the staff are courteous and the programming is pleasant. I went on a Saturday and there was open bingo (with no cover required), with some drag performances during the break. Would definitely recommend to others. One of the most enjoyable lesbian bar experiences I’ve had so far!“

“We came to The 1917 Wine Bar and Bistro to celebrate my graduation, and it was a great choice. The outdoor space was really nice, and the live jazz made the lunch feel special.
The staff were kind and helpful. We started with red wine, which we enjoyed with the crispy calamari and tasty meatballs, the sauces were really good.
For the main dishes, we had the chicken salad, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and cauliflower pizza. Everything tasted fresh and was full of flavor.
It was a lovely lunch, and we’re happy we picked this place for the celebration. Would definitely come back!“

“Great atmosphere and wine list. However many of the dishes were a bit over rich/ light on flavor. And look, I know, don’t go to a fancy wine bar expecting value, but the price of many of the simple dishes (salads, simple pastas without meat) were above normal even for LA. Service was friendly but slow“

“A very stylish bar tucked away in downtown LA near Grand Central Market feels like an NYC bar. I had a great chat with the owners—they hand-select everything they serve, from small-batch wines to charcuterie sourced from both local and international makers. It’s a perfect spot for a date or catching up with an old friend. Everyone was super friendly, and the doorman adds a nice touch of safety and comfort.“

“This place is a chic little spot, all muted tones and stylish details straight off a Pinterest board.
At first, we were seated at a bar-edge table with awkwardly high chairs that left almost no legroom. My husband and I aren’t big people, but it was uncomfortable. We asked to move, and they graciously accommodated us. Not long after, the couple seated there requested lower chairs too, so clearly we weren’t alone. The design here leans more toward aesthetics than function—there was even a perfectly sized table reserved for books and plants that could have probably been utilized for diners. Still, the cozy, lived-in touches, like the coat rack and the homey décor, created the vibe of having dinner at a friend’s fashionably curated house, which was warm and inviting.
We started with the grilled asparagus, which came with a horseradish sauce that added a sharp, peppery bite to the smoky char—balanced and bold without overwhelming. The market salad was crisp and refreshing, full of bright flavors that cut through the richness of the meal to come.
For mains, we ordered the Wild Rivers Purebred Wagyu MS8+ Picanha and the Oakley Wagyu Bavette Steak MS7. Both were absolutely exquisite—tender, juicy, and deeply flavorful, with a melt-in-your-mouth quality that spoke for the quality of the cuts. The seasonings and sauces on the side paired seamlessly with each bite, enhancing rather than distracting from the beef. Definitely one of the bests we’ve ever had.
For drinks, I had the lemonade—an excellent balance of tart and sweet that felt perfectly refreshing alongside the heavier dishes. My husband had a West Coast IPA, which complemented the richness of the steaks with its crisp bitterness.
Our server was friendly and attentive and checked in at the right moments, making sure our glasses were never empty. His genuine hospitality really elevated the whole experience and made us feel well cared for.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and would highly recommend this spot to anyone in search of a great steak in a stylish intimate setting.“

“The wine bar you wish you could stumble upon every night! Great Persian food- you can tell they use fresh farmers market produce. And arguably the best natural wine list in town. This spot is a real gem. Get the Nazkhatoun (eggplant dip) w/ feta, Ghormeh Sabzi or the Fesenjan - both delicious stews. And their tarts for dessert are excellent.
Vegetarian options: Nazkhatoun (eggplant dip) w/ feta, Ghormeh Sabzi, shallot dip, Shirazi salad (cherry tomatoes and cucumber), cucumber dip
Parking: Their parking lot is just south of the restaurant on the corner of Virgil and Melrose“

“So, I was not expecting to have a beer while perusing a nee bookstore this weekend, but lo and behold! I desperately needed to charge my dying phone, and couldn’t find an outlet anywhere in the book aisles. So I stumbled across The 1894, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Their happy hour is awesome- a french pilsner for only $6! And the staff went out of their way to accommodate me near an outlet where i can drink and charge my phone. Again, was not expecting this pleasant bar, but will def be back!“

“What a gem — and it's just one block from my home in downtown LA! Claudio, the owner, is so vibrant and welcoming; you can tell how much pride he takes in his restaurant. “We've been attending a handful of concerts at Hollywood Bowl this year. We loved Fattoush Salad (different recipe from how our family makes Fattoush Salad) but was delicious! The Lamb Chops were OK, but Spanish Fried Chicken was just fried, you can't taste or see any chicken meat inside. I have a feeling all vegie dishes here might be delicious, but not the ones with any meat. Service and atmosphere were amazing! We will go back to try different dishes, but for sure to have the Fattoush Salad.“

“This was my second visit to Entre Nous French Bistro, and it absolutely confirmed what I felt the first time—this place is a hidden gem. We came yesterday to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and everything about the evening was simply perfect.
We were a party of five and shared a variety of dishes that showcased the kitchen’s finesse and authenticity. We started with the Daily Pick Oysters, which were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. The Tartare de Saumon was bright and delicate, and the Escargots de Bourgogne were everything you’d hope for—garlicky, buttery, and so satisfying. The Homemade Duck Pâté was another standout—rich, rustic, and perfectly paired with fresh baguette slices.
For entrées, we had the Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb, Magret de Canard, French Fries, and the Salmon special of the day. Every single dish was a hit. The meats were expertly cooked to temperature, the sauces were layered and flavorful, and the sides were just as impressive. Even the fries deserve a shoutout—crispy, golden, and addictive.
The service was warm, professional, and incredibly thoughtful. They made sure my sister felt celebrated, and we never once felt rushed. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, with just the right touch of French charm.
Entre Nous continues to impress, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in town. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a night out, this bistro delivers every time. Already looking forward to visit number three!“
“This is such an awesome spot to meet friends or work colleagues, and to stock your wine cooler! Be sure to get empanadas and salad from Puerto Rican Eats. The inside is lively, but mid-century modern cool. There’s also patio and sidewalk seating. Hannah and Ariel will help you find what suits your palate (and they also play great tunes). If Doug the owner is in, you’re in for a treat!“

“Wow! One of the best hidden gems in DTLA. The food was phenomenal! The baguette alone was worth the trip. And the pasta rescued me from a deep post-election funk. And it wasn't terribly expensive either. I felt like I was on the set of Sex and the City, circa 1999, with Portishead bumping in the background. I wanted a Cosmo and a cigarette. Badly. It was giving the best NYC feels. And I loved it! Shoutout to Christopher for welcoming us!“

“Altadena Ale & Wine House is easily one of the best spots in Altadena. The staff know their wine inside and out and love helping you discover something new. They’re welcoming, laid-back, and create an atmosphere that feels more like hanging out with friends than just grabbing a drink. With a great wine list, solid beer and food selection, and a classic old-school vibe, this place is a must-stop. Can’t wait to come back!“

“This place was wonderful! We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday here, and the staff went above and beyond — they even gave us the best booth in the house. Multiple team members wished him a happy birthday, which was so sweet.😊
The food was to die for! We had the Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, burrata, Margherita pizza, and Funghi pizza — everything was absolutely incredible.
We’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you so much for making the night extra special, Wildcrust staff!“
“I just want to say how much I love coming to Dargenzio Winery. The owner and his staff are always very welcoming. The food is excellent. I love the ravioli and pizza. Filippo, the owner knows his Italian wines very well and does an excellent job with the pairing of the wines with the food, so definitely ask for him and ask him to do that for you.Dargenzio Winery also has a good amount of outdoor space, which is a plus in these times. I definitely recommend you to make reservations and go there. Tell him Eddie said hi and referred you.“

“Update, two weeks later: So after a slightly rocky start, we went again - the food and wine were excellent as before, but the service really really improved since the last time. I can highly recommend this place to go for a good time. If you are with friends, make sure you try "family style" - order loads of munchies - the four of us shared the charcuterie board (the salami was among the best I ever had), the flatbreads, the baked brie - and a sample plate of their delicious oils - so so so good - and given the superb quality, reasonably priced. Not to forget: did you ever try vanilla ice cream with olive oil - you should ;-) So thankful they understood and appreciated my earlier review. I will surely go again soon. Previous review: Oh, what a wonderful place - and an amazing concept. My wife and I took two friends yesterday. We were seated at a table for two, with the promise to be relocated to the table next to us as patrons were close to getting their check. Never happened, no problem.I wanted to order a bottle of wine. The service recommended tasting their canned wines - 4 different ones for $49. Canned wine? I come from Germany, from Koblenz, where the rivers Rhine and Mosel meet. Canned wine? Seriously? Still, why not try something new?So the four of us received four balloon glasses with the four wines. Wine tasting? Share every glass physically with four people in times of Corona? They must be kidding. I would have expected to get four cans - and, in all honesty, four small glasses for each of us. Sure: it ain't the Ritz - a personal glass for each of us. But sure: this ain't "The Ritz," so we shared. We are really good friends, and we did have a good time. The wine was OK - which sounds as if something was wrong - it wasn't. It was OK - nice experience, but I would personally not order again - while it may be perfectly fine for you, the reader (by the way, I appreciate you reading this ;-)Then: the food. As with the wine, we wanted to share. We started with the baked brie, which was really really good, and the burrata flatbread, which came soaked, and I really mean soaked, in Oil. Sadly, it did not come with silverware. We asked three times but never got it. Then, we asked if we could have at least some napkins. We got two. We were here to share, weren't we ;-)I asked for the check. The printer had issues. Happens. We were not in a rush. Service offered a sip of wine while we had to wait. Sure, a nice gesture. Sadly, the wine never came. After just under half an hour, we got some sort of check - still issues with the printer. We were charged $61 for the wines - they were charged separately and not, as per the menu and recommendation, as the $49 offer. $12 was refunded. Receipt: sorry, the printer.I really wanted to love the place, and as we enjoyed the company of our dear friends in a nice atmosphere, loved the brie, and drank the wine, I did not want to spoil the evening by arguing about the service, which really "has potential."It would have been easy to make this a five-star recommendation, as the location, atmosphere and general concept scream fabulous. I would possibly go again. At the moment, I feel sorry for the place.“

“Angelini Osteria totally lived up to the hype! We had a great dinner there that night and I can't wait to go back again soon. Let's start with the star of this show: uni pasta. Oh my gosh, it was divine! The uni was so fresh and creamy and the pasta itself was cooked just right. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. We also tried the baked lasagna and it was delightful. The layers were perfectly balanced and each bite was full of rich, savory flavors. Let's not forget dessert! We shared a few different things and they were all great. The tiramisu was fluffy and decadent and the chocolate mousse was rich and smooth. Overall, Angelini Osteria is definitely a must-try for Italian food lovers in Los Angeles. The food is incredible, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We can't wait to come back and try more dishes on the menu!“

“My friend and I had a terrific dinner last night at Civico 2064. We were looking for a quiet place for a tasty bite and this was a fantastic spot. Brandon greeted us at the door and made sure everything about the meal was perfect. The space is large but still felt cozy and the atmosphere is very inviting. We order a tasty starter to share and the short rib pasta which was sublime. I am Italian and the freshly made pasta and delicate, yet robust sauce, reminded me of my ancestral home in italy. There are plenty of authentic Italian options as well as a really interesting and large vegan menu. I love vegan food and can't wait to return and sample some things from that side of the menu. This is a terrific local eatery that feels both special and homey and we will definitely be back.“

“Bar Sawa is a total hidden gem—an intimate omakase adventure wrapped in speakeasy style. From the moment you enter the discreet entrance, it feels like you’ve stepped into a secret culinary world. The chef is a true artist: meticulous, passionate, and warm, guiding you through each course with care and storytelling that elevates the experience.
Every bite is exceptional—ultra-fresh fish, perfectly balanced flavors, and beautiful presentation that makes it almost too pretty to eat (but you will, and you’ll be glad you did). The service is attentive yet relaxed, striking the perfect tone for the cozy setting.
Theme nights add another layer of excitement—creative twists that keep things playful without sacrificing authenticity. It’s rare to find a spot that nails atmosphere, service, and world-class sushi in one go, but Bar Sawa delivers across the board. A must for anyone who wants something unforgettable.“

There was confusion in regards to the food being brought out to the correct table (the people next to us had ordered the same thing) but the manager went above and beyond to make it right. Well worth a visit. It took a 5 minute wait to be seated at 6:30pm on a Friday night which I thought was very reasonable!“
