“The place was really clean, plenty of parking, what I love about El Gavilan is that you can refill the aguas frescas as.many times as you want. The food is great, and all condiments are single.pack and unlimited as well. I think tacos at any time are great and at El Gavilan even better with their Chiles toreados and beans on the side. Mmmm from tacos, burritos, tortas, sopes, champurrado, aguas frescas, etc... every meal is yummy 😋“

“This is my go-to taco spot for al pastor. It’s easily the best around this area. The meat is cooked on a trompo and served fresh, with a great marinade and that perfect sweetness from the pineapple sliced over it. The tortillas aren’t handmade, but the flavor of the pastor more than makes up for it.

There have been a few times during slower hours where the pastor is pre-cooked and already cut, but most of the time it’s fresh off the trompo and on point.

I’ve tried other items like their quesadillas and different meats, but those are more on the average side. This place really stands out for the pastor.

They do have a big selection of salsas. My favorites are the verde and aguacate, both spicy and full of flavor. The pickled purple onions with habanero are also really good, and the cucumbers with chile and a squeeze of limón are a great side. Everything for sides are self-serve, which is convenient.

The agua frescas here are some of the best around. They taste homemade, not like prepackaged mixes. Sometimes I’ll stop by just for a cold horchata.

Be ready for long lines, as this place gets packed during the late hours of the night. The line usually moves pretty fast though, and the flavor makes it worth the wait. The seating area has grown over the years and is available at first come, first serve. However, nothing beats eating tacos over the hood of my car.

Service can be hit or miss depending on the staff’s mood. I’ve had a couple of instances where I was told I didn’t pay for an item even though I did, which was frustrating.

Overall, if I’m craving al pastor tacos and a great horchata, this is the spot I’m going to.“
