“We stumbled across Peony Chinese Kitchen and are so glad we did- it was by far our favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach! We enjoyed our meal on the patio and had a great view of the beach. She went out of her way to make sure that the cocktails we ordered were prepared perfectly by speaking directly to the bartender. Everything we ordered was excellent. We knew the crispy lamb buns (aka Chinese Burger) was going to be good, but not sure about the $20 fried pork which was #1 chef recommendations, it turned out to be delightful.

The lamb soup came out first, it was tasty and refreshing, Liang pi was cool, you don’t get it in many places. String beans were nicely done, a delicious necessity to balance out the meal.

The first bite of crispy lamb buns was a delightful surprise: crunchy layered thin bread and lamb with slightly cumin, it was an amazing feast.

Fried pork is an even more interesting surprise that I would not spoil. Ha ha. Try it to find out!

Service was fine, we were seats and water was provided quickly. Orders are done by scanning QR code, browsing the online menu, and order directly. I find this efficient but lacking some personal interactions.

We did purposely ordered a lot for the two of us, we obviously didn’t finish. I was surprised the bill wasn’t as much as I expected. We got a lot of leftovers to go and enjoyed rest at home.“

“One of the most authentic and yummy XLB places. The waitlist can be a bit long during peak hours, but their system takes care of it. Services are fine too, just sometimes a bit monotone as they are very focused on their tasks. Simple and clean environment while we can also buy togo frozen XLB to steam at home. I ordered the Singapore mei fun it wasn't on the menu but it was probably the best that I've ever had. The mixture of shrimp and pork and chicken, the vegetables were just perfectly crisp with tons of flavor and the mei fun noodles perfectly cooked. Definitely ask for their secret recipe chili oil, you won't be disappointed!

“This is a new restaurant has a nice decor and comfortable seating. We ordered Peking duck (no reservation needed), Peking duck soup, and a set meal of steamed shrimp with garlic and vermicelli. The shrimp was very fresh, I was surprised. They have many opening promotions now, with 5-6 dishes on special for $9.9. The food was delicious, served quickly, and the service was excellent. We will definitely come back!“

I ordered through DoorDash last night, and I was absolutely blown away. I had seen this place before but had never tried it. When I came across it on DoorDash, I looked through the menu and decided to give it a chance—and I’m so glad I did!

Let’s start with the chicken egg rolls. When I took my first bite, I was genuinely impressed to find large pieces of white-meat chicken and vegetables inside. And the flavor? Absolutely delicious! The fried rice was just as flavorful, and the House Special Chicken was another standout.

But the pan-fried noodles with beef and vegetables deserve a special mention. This is one of my favorite dishes, and I’m always excited to find a restaurant that does it well. I really appreciated that the noodles were packaged separately from the beef, vegetables, and sauce so they wouldn’t get soggy during delivery. That little detail makes such a difference! Once I poured everything over the noodles and took a bite, I knew this was one of the best versions of this dish I’ve had in a long time.

Not only was every dish outstanding, but everything arrived hot! I even had some of the leftovers for lunch today, and they still tasted amazing. From the flavors to the thoughtful packaging, the entire experience exceeded my expectations.

I like to try restaurants for myself rather than rely solely on reviews, and Kaleyard made an incredible first impression. You will definitely be getting more orders from me, and I can’t wait to explore the rest of the menu.

“I just wanted to take the time to really thank Pick Up Stix at the Lake Forest location. I always have had a great experience here - whether it be for the food or the customer service.

Recently, I decided to venture off my usual choice - Chow Mein - which I think is the best ever. Unfortunately, the new dish I ordered was subpar, I called the restaurant and spoke to a nice lady (I forgot her name unfortunately), she went above and beyond just replacing the meal. And I really appreciated it. Customer service like this is now rare - but she was so nice about it. A) didn't make me feel low or stuck-up (I hate that feeling esp when the vendor makes the mistake) - this was not the case here B) replaced the meal with another of my choice C) And added a generous extra item on the house

The pork was a bit tougher than I would have liked. The staff was very helpful and nice. Would definitely return again to try something new. Tip: Pay attention to the signs. When they say beware of bone bits in the chicken, there will be bone bits in the chicken.“

“I ordered the Red Braised Tofu With Shiitake Mushroom. I’ve never really ordered something like this but I wanted to try something new. Omg!! It was delicious. The second I smelled it, I knew I was gonna love it. It’s very very soft and smooth tofu cubes in one of the most delicious sauces I’ve ever had. The texture of the tofu and the flavor of the sauce hit exactly the right spot. So good!!! And eating it with a side of white rice makes it even better.

Also, I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It was so cute.

One very very small thing: for take out orders, I wish the forks were not so small and flimsy. But that’s not a big deal.“

- Braised Beef Noodle Soup had flavorful and tender beef that was delicious! Had the almost melt in your mouth experience. Be aware that even for a mild, it was spicy. So if you don’t like any spicy at all, this is not a dish to get.
- Yunnan rice noodle bridge was nice to see how it is all setup before you put everything into the bowl of soup. It is very hot so be cautious especially if you have little ones. The soup, noodles and fixings were good. My little one liked the soup and noodles so much that he had almost a whole bowl by himself (he’s only 3.5 yo).
- Free dessert in the stainless steel container by where the eating utensils are. Option was limited with just aiyu jelly and oranges.
- Service was friendly and food was served in a reasonable time.“

“I came here with my grandpa, and it has become one of our favorite places. My grandpa absolutely loves the fish, and I have to say they make the best eggplant I’ve found in Orange County. As someone who doesn’t eat meat, it’s one of the main reasons I keep coming back.

We regularly order the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, the Grilled Salmon with rice and veggies, and House Tofu on rice. It is all so good (as reported by those who eat each respective meal, I can really only speak to the tofu and wontons).
Tonight, as usual, despite there being multiple customers in the building, and several people coming in for pick ups, my food was ready quickly. The staff are friendly and attentive, and make sure we have everything we need. I especially appreciate that the way our food gets packed up when ordered to go; it is packed in such a way that I have never had a spill in my car.
