“I always seem to have a craving for this place every Tuesday and keep forgetting it's closed. If you asked me before finding this place if there was much of a difference between Chinese food spots, I would have said, no. Now I'd say go here and have the same light bulb moment I did. Best fried rice, house special chicken and cashew chicken I've had in a long long time.“

“Rougamo in Irvine is a great spot if you’re looking for something different from the usual Chinese restaurant options in Orange County. The food is flavorful, filling, and has a very authentic feel, especially their roujiamo-style sandwiches. You can ask the chef to add spicy peppers and onions. Pork is the best but it comes in lamb and beef too. The bread has a nice crisp exterior while staying soft enough inside, and the meat is tender, well-seasoned, and packed generously. Lots of other food on the menu, most of them spicy and flavorful. Recommend to try the lamb soup, spicy chicken, and liver/kidney/stomach combo (it tastes better than it sounds)

Very casual restaurant, tv often plays cartoons for the kids and there's cpop on the stereo, but quiet enough to have a conversation.

Overall, Rougamo is definitely worth trying, especially if you enjoy northern or northwestern Chinese flavors and want something beyond the more common dumpling, noodle, and hot pot restaurants around Irvine. I’d happily come back and try more of the menu.“

I ordered the Singapore mei fun it wasn't on the menu but it was probably the best that I've ever had. The mixture of shrimp and pork and chicken, the vegetables were just perfectly crisp with tons of flavor and the mei fun noodles perfectly cooked. Definitely ask for their secret recipe chili oil, you won't be disappointed!

She went out of her way to make sure that the cocktails we ordered were prepared perfectly by speaking directly to the bartender. “Such an amazing and authentic Chinese dining experience! As someone who grew up in China, I can honestly say the food here really impressed me. The flavors are incredibly authentic, and you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients in their dishes. Everything we tried was delicious!

“EverSpring had only recently opened, so I stopped by to give it a try. I originally came for the beef knife-cut noodles, but the lamb bread soup and crispy rougamo ended up being the biggest surprises.

The broth was flavorful without being greasy, and the lamb was tender with no strong gamey taste. The rougamo was hot, flaky, and filled with plenty of meat—we liked it enough to take another one home. The knife-cut noodles were thick and chewy, with large pieces of tender beef in almost every bite.

The menu has a nice mix of Northwestern specialties and familiar Chinese comfort food, so it’s an easy place to visit with a group. A friend tried the crispy beef on a previous visit and really liked it, so that’s already on my list for next time.

There’s plenty of free parking outside, and the dining room feels bright, clean, and comfortable. The weekday lunch special also makes the prices very reasonable.

The staff kept our water filled, brought everything out promptly, and checked in to make sure the flavors worked for us. Attentive without hovering—which I really appreciated. A very solid new option near Irvine.“

I ordered two (1 side) platter for 9.90 each and I asked I'd they has shrimp chow mein in which the lady said yes and asked if small or large. I said small then she proceeded to get a small fold box and filled it with chow mein and she called it on the speaker for a shrimp chow mein. and that seemed to total $10 which is crazy for such a small item but I get that it had shrimp. I should have confirmed the price first because if that would have been the price I would have gotten a 1 side platter but lesson learned. I ordered through DoorDash last night, and I was absolutely blown away. I had seen this place before but had never tried it. When I came across it on DoorDash, I looked through the menu and decided to give it a chance—and I’m so glad I did!

Let’s start with the chicken egg rolls. When I took my first bite, I was genuinely impressed to find large pieces of white-meat chicken and vegetables inside. And the flavor? Absolutely delicious! The fried rice was just as flavorful, and the House Special Chicken was another standout.

But the pan-fried noodles with beef and vegetables deserve a special mention. This is one of my favorite dishes, and I’m always excited to find a restaurant that does it well. I really appreciated that the noodles were packaged separately from the beef, vegetables, and sauce so they wouldn’t get soggy during delivery. That little detail makes such a difference! Once I poured everything over the noodles and took a bite, I knew this was one of the best versions of this dish I’ve had in a long time.

Not only was every dish outstanding, but everything arrived hot! I even had some of the leftovers for lunch today, and they still tasted amazing. From the flavors to the thoughtful packaging, the entire experience exceeded my expectations.

I like to try restaurants for myself rather than rely solely on reviews, and Kaleyard made an incredible first impression. You will definitely be getting more orders from me, and I can’t wait to explore the rest of the menu.

Recently, I decided to venture off my usual choice - Chow Mein - which I think is the best ever. Unfortunately, the new dish I ordered was subpar, I called the restaurant and spoke to a nice lady (I forgot her name unfortunately), she went above and beyond just replacing the meal. And I really appreciated it. Customer service like this is now rare - but she was so nice about it. A) didn't make me feel low or stuck-up (I hate that feeling esp when the vendor makes the mistake) - this was not the case here B) replaced the meal with another of my choice C) And added a generous extra item on the house

I’m not sure why they don’t have pickled veggies inside but the soup was still so sour and savory I loved it!! Each menu item is a generous portion and comes with soy sauce, sweet rice sauce, and of course, a fortune cookie. They offer all the standard beverages—lemonade, raspberry tea, Vitaminwater, Sprite, Coke—you name it—as well as Gold Peak tea if that’s your preference.

“I ordered the Red Braised Tofu With Shiitake Mushroom. I’ve never really ordered something like this but I wanted to try something new. Omg!! It was delicious. The second I smelled it, I knew I was gonna love it. It’s very very soft and smooth tofu cubes in one of the most delicious sauces I’ve ever had. The texture of the tofu and the flavor of the sauce hit exactly the right spot. So good!!! And eating it with a side of white rice makes it even better.

Also, I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It was so cute.

One very very small thing: for take out orders, I wish the forks were not so small and flimsy. But that’s not a big deal.“
