I like the change; easier to get a mixed chopstick full of protein and rice. There is a lovely outdoor space where you could enjoy watching the bike path traffic but unfortunately it was not usable during my visit due to yellow jackets.“

“This was a FABULOUS dinner - I could not have asked for more!! The atmosphere was calm but still lively on this Saturday night. There was jazz playing lightly in the background intermingled with the content chatter of the patrons. I sat outdoors with patio lanterns and kept pleasantly comfortable with warnth coming from overhead heating. My dinner was fantastic, plenty of vegetarian options and I was not feeling rushed but had only a short wait for my order. You know it is great offerings when there is a constant flow of take out orders.The service here was EXCELLENT - ABOVE AND BEYOND!“

I them had akani red tuma dashing and a flame roll. The sushi was perfect and the spice of the flame roll was squelch with my Nigerian sake! I could eat at the this place daily.“

The menu offers a great variety of options, both cooked and raw. We started with miso soup and sashimi, paired with hot sake as an appetizer. For dinner, we enjoyed the Scope Special, Spicy Tuna Roll, Spider Roll, Dragon Roll, Lucky Stars, and finished off with the Chef's Special Roll. The fish was fresh, and every dish was absolutely delicious.

“Tokyo Express, back in the early 2010's, used to be really popular with a line during lunchtime. Some of my old co-workers used to enjoy coming here. Business has sure when downhill since the pandemic. There was only one other table occupied at lunch time on a Wednesday. The staff was really busy however packing up to-go orders. I had their Wednesday special, the tonkatsu $13. The pork fillet was a bit dry and not juicy, tender and properly cooked. The panko had a nice crunch. It did come with an alright tonkatsu sauce. With this dish, it should come with shredded cabbage served with a miso-ginger dressing or Japanese sesame dressing, but it didn't come with it. Since this is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, I didn't knock off stars for that. Service was non-existent as this is an order at the counter style restaurant and no tea or water was served. There was a free cup of miso soup and my food came out in a reasonable amount of time.“

Everyone else around me always gets Sushi and I hear them say how good it is (I have not been adventurous enough to try Sushi). It is on Pine and Grant, extremely clean and nice view of Chinatown. “Hands down the best katsu restaurant in San Francisco! I came in yesterday and ordered the hire katsu teishoku (pork loin cutlet set meal) — it was absolutely phenomenal. The katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside and incredibly tender inside, and the set came together beautifully. I've also tried the cheese sando here before, and the combination of the soft, pillowy bread with the filling is simply outstanding. The restaurant itself is spotlessly clean and has a really welcoming atmosphere. If you're craving either Japanese or Korean food, this place is a must-visit. One more thing — their kimchi fried rice is the real deal. As a Korean, I don't say that lightly. Highly recommend!“

“Got lunch with a couple other people. There were lots good options but if you want to pick from everything get there when they open. I got a hand roll and a teriyaki salmon bowl and shared the special roll. I liked the hand roll the best and also enjoyed the cabbage in the teriyaki bowl. The special roll was just shrimp tempura topped with imitation crab, some sauces, and roe. I plan to try another roll next time I go there. It’s a pretty tight space and you have to go some else to eat it. Great place to grab something quickly and get back to work“

“It's a mom and pop shop, and the owners are extremely friendly. After realizing it's my first time here, they introduced menu items to me with passion and even offered extra toppings for what I ordered. I got a chicken teriyaki bento and a soba noodle bowl for my family. The food is really good with great portions, at a very reasonable price point. I will definitely come back.“

Because I sat at the bar, the chefs felt bad about how long I had been patiently waiting, so they took my order before the waitress did. Again, when it was time to pay, my waitress was so slow to pick up my payment, that another male server came by to accept my payment.“

“Been here many times. I prefer this place much more than the other Japanese spots in Mill Valley. I lived in Hawaii for 10 years and have a high standard for Japanese food. They offer more options and everything I've ordered here is delicious. Will continue to come here. Their wine and sake selection is much better as well.“
