“Hidden gem in San Francisco!
This place is cozy, intimate, and friendly. Book a fireplace seat if you can.
The wine selection is incredible, both bottles, as well as by the glass.
But the real thing that makes SF Wine Society special is their curated flights, which change about every month or so. Great way to expand your palate and try new wines that may become your next favorite.
Friendly and attentive service as well.“

“We came here for happy hour on a Monday evening and we were one of the only customers in a nearly empty restaurant, so service was pretty efficient. We almost had the entire staff catering exclusively to us. I'd say the restaurant kind of feels like a cross between a bistro bar and a 50s restaurant with dim lighting. Once we took a look at the menu, of course we had to get a wine flight.
Between 2 of the $13 wine flights, we ordered a Melon de Bourgogne, Merlot, Gamay, and then we were recommended a Rose Grenache, and an an orange wine, which was interesting.
$ 7 Chicken Liver Mousse:
okay! It was topped with chives, served with cornichons.
$10 Jamon Serrano Croquetas:
good! definitely fresh, because it came piping hot. I had to cut it in half and let it steam for a few minutes.
$19 Octopus Carpaccio - pickled capers and pickled peppers, pomegranate:
great! very tangy taste, get it if you like sour flavors
$29 Duck Leg Confit - Grimaud farm duck leg with gratin dauphinois, salad, duck jus:
excellent! crispy skin on duck leg with green salad and radishes helped lighten it up.
When we got our bill, it came tucked inside of a French paperback, which I thought was a cute touch. We got full from happy hour, though two items were not from the happy hour menu. I give Amelie a 9.2/10“

“A nice wine bar with good easy-drinking wines and friendly staff.
We came in just in time for Wednesday’s trivia night, which made for a fun friendly atmosphere!
We had the empanada ($8) which was ok. Overall nice pre-dinner place!“

“Hidden gem of Sausalito! It’s a small scale restaurant where the chef if cooking in front of you simply amazing Michelin-3-star-level food. Don’t come here just for caviar that you can simply buy at a store. Come for the chef’s amazing cooking!“

“What an amazing and eclectic wine 🍷 list. Wines you won’t find anywhere else. Great food menu too.“
“Super cute wine bar just across the street from Cafe Zoetrope. We were there for a calligraphy class but my daughter was feeling ill so we sat outside for a bit. The sommelier was kind and empathetic; he offered us waters and was talking to her to make her feel less embarrassed. While we were waiting, he even helped a lady park her car. So while we didn't have wine or food, the service is top notch and we'll go back!“

“If you are a caviar lover, you have to go here. They have caviar from their own farm and it is a sustainable operation. The prices are fair for caviar. No, it’s not cheap, but if you consider a small spoonful of caviar at a restaurant is upwards of $50, it’s a solid price. My favorite caviars/roes I’ve tried in order of enjoyment: golden osetra, osetra, estate, baerii, truffled whitefish roe. If you are curious about caviar, Tsar Nicoulai is the best place to give it a try at a reasonable price. Their caviar is wonderful.“

“Yeah this place rocks. Would totally 100% come back here. Bartender was incredible totally has a cool SF classic north beach bar vibe. Lots of room for everyone and a spectacular outside seating to just have a beer and watch the world go by. Come here for a wholesome local experience or for a fun dive bar vibe.
Had the ham sandwhich holy crap. For a dive bar it was kinda perfect. Bread that was toasted perfectly with a delicious jam. Come here.“

“The food is always delicious, and the waitstaff is friendly. There is a nice eclectric crowd. The owners are impressive -- a family owned business (something that is disappearing in San Francisco). I love this place and am so happy to have them in my neighborhood.“

“No air-conditioning, so we went outside after we ordered and sat on the sidewalk with car exhaust and motorcycles roaring by. They have a good selection of tasty wines and the charcuterie platter presented well with a nice selection of meats and cheeses. Our first server didn't know anything about wine and confessed to only drinking reds so she brought over a second person who knew more.“

“Loved the vibe here, the place was buzzing with people, and the atmosphere was lively but still comfortable. Outdoor seating is a huge plus if the weather’s on your side.
We ordered the chicken skewers, which came with warm bread and a flavorful sauce that paired beautifully with a glass of wine. Everything was tasty, well-balanced, and perfect for a casual evening.
Definitely a spot I’d come back to for good food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere.“

“Sorella is one of our favorite restaurants in SF. We're moving out in March, so we had to come back to it one last time, and, as with all the other times we have been there, it did not disappoint. 5 star service 5 star food and drinks 5 star setting What more could you ask? Shoutout to Jocyln for bringing us an extra treat at the end of the night and for being a great waitress. :) Timo“

“The best wine bar hands down! Kelly and Giselle are not only friendly but also curate the most amazing experiences. We love special cheeses and they always make sure to add them to our cheese board. We are also members of the wine club where they have the best parties for members!“
“My significant other and I were travelling down Hyde St on the cable car and passed this wine bar. As wine lovers, we knew we had to go back! What a treat! There is a great selection of delicious dry European wines. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting. Everyone in the bar including the owner were very friendly and helpful with other great recommendations in the area. I highly recommend visiting if you are a wine enthusiast.“
“We heard so much about this place, we came over from San Francisco specifically to try it out! What a perfect spot to have a taste of some amazing wines and an array of incredible cheeses and crackers. You walk inside and it’s a little shop with a bar counter on the right. You order what you like and sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view!! I am so looking forward to coming back on my next visit. Make it a point to stop in, you won’t be disappointed!!“

“My wife and I return each year on the anniversary of our first meeting at California Wine Merchant. Most recently, the owner Greg, took our photo and gave us a complimentary glass of Champagne to mark the occasion. He’s a great guy and his bar is a great place to meet up with friends, or maybe the love of your life.“

“The downstairs lounge is an amazing space to host private dinners. There is no noise interference from the outside, the bank vault feel gives is a very special atmosphere, and the staff were very efficient and friendly in looking after us. For private events in SF, this is now our go-to option! Oh, and the cocktails were absolutely outstanding - many participants told me that!“

“I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I am a business owner a few doors down and I wandered in with a friend after work one night about a month ago. We were met with such incredible warmth from the staff and the environment itself, even without a reservation. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Josh, only to find out later that he is the owner. He made excellent recommendations on everything from our drinks to dessert. The bar didn’t feel isolated from the rest of the restaurant and guests, but rather was lively hub frequented by kitchen and serving staff and warmed by a smoldering wood fire. The coziest. We swooned for the poke appetizer, complete with house-made toasted, but not crisp, blue corn tortillas. The pork shoulder tacos—also to die for. I have to say though, that the star on the sidelines was the beans. I honestly didn’t know I could feel this way about beans…but I digress. Josh bounced around from table to table all night, never letting a single ball drop, making every guest feel like *his* guest. A pot de crème sealed the evening in perfect bliss. I’m back a month later with the same friend, eating different and somehow even more incredible entrees: ribeye, halibut and a rhubarb crisp for dessert. I scarcely ever take the time to write a review as I prefer to vote with my $ and my feet, but I simply couldn’t eat here again without taking the time to sing it’s praises. Eat here.“

“The food was flavourful and the texture was just right. We ordered the Peking duck and soy chicken. Our kids loved the chicken with a side of steamed rice. The chef enjoys strong flavours and skillfully cut the chicken like butter in front of our table. The atmosphere is casual with an Asian-fusion trendy vibe.“

“A quaint, maybe even unassuming, Italian restaurant, that has a top notch kitchen and service. The menu cycles, but I have never been disappointed. Pizzas are outstanding, be they breakfast or lunch, and the all of the baked goods have clearly been perfected. Don't miss this spot, especially if you're a coffee connoisseur.“

“Of all the Indian restaurants in the Bay Area that I tried, this restaurant has the best food imo. I discovered this place by chance on the way to Napa. After having a full meal, I ordered another meal for takeout because the food was so good. I've been here twice now. It's exceptionally good.“

“We narrowly missed a 45 minute wait here last week for my birthday dinner. No problems sitting at the bar - service was quick and wonderful. The sushi here is incredibly fresh and thoughtfully designed. I loved the super nova roll and the ocean roll, my partner liked the special roll. We were offered the typical (complimentary) wasabi and the fresh wasabi. My partner said the fresh is much better and worth ordering. We found the prices here to be reasonable especially considering the quality. We can't wait to go back!“

“Stopped by recently on a hot summer day for some gelato. Talk about a perfect repast to beat the summer heat. I had hazelnut and mango, and the portions are very generous. I didn't ask, but I think they make the cones in-house. Anyway, strange combination, I know. The mango was immediately delicious but I think I messed up combining the two because when it came time for the hazelnut, I was too full to truly enjoy the depth of flavor. Next time, I'll get it to take home. I love the location, it's in one of my favorite areas of San Rafael with shopping, good food and entertainment in abundance. Haven't had the pizza yet, but I'm a New Yorker and we're picky about our slices!“

“Starting with the most important thing, the food was fantastic. I got the beef burrito and my friend got the chili and pork stew, and we both loved our meal. We agreed we'd definitely come back because of the food alone. The restaurant operated for 6 years in NYC before moving to San Anselmo, and they've obviously got some great recipes under their belt. The menu is very small, but it seems what is on there is great. The food's presentation was great, too.
The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing at all. The food was brought out in 10 minutes, a perfect amount of time.
Our biggest complaint was that the backless wooden seats (not the booth) were pretty uncomfortable. My friend also said her cocktail didn't have quite enough alcohol and too much ice. Additionally, the music was just a bit too loud for a restaurant. All that being said, the very open decor scheme and atmosphere felt welcoming and original compared to other restaurants... In a good way.“

“I came here after a great dinner at the Thai restaurant within walking distance. The wine and beer selection was right up my alley, I had a wonderful Malbec then followed it up with a local craft beer and left having made new friends with some of the locals and the owner Tony.“
