Hawaiian Restaurants near Lomita, CA

“There are restaurants where the food carries the entire experience and then there are places where somebody behind the counter reminds you that hospitality is still part of the job.

Poke & More is the second kind. I’ve been here enough times now to finally have an opinion and the woman working the counter may genuinely be one of the nicest people I’ve encountered in a restaurant in a while. Warm, patient, grateful you’re there. The sort of person who somehow makes handing over a plastic bowl of raw fish and rice feel like an act of hospitality instead of a transaction.

That matters. The place itself is simple, clean and easy. Parking isn’t a battle. Nobody is trying to turn poke into theater. You order your food, they make it and you leave happier than you arrived.

The bowl is straightforward: white rice, furikake, poke. And the rice deserves credit. Properly cooked, fluffy, enough structure to hold the fish without turning into paste. Traditional Hawaiian poke doesn’t require sushi rice and honestly I prefer this approach. Let the fish do the talking.

The fish, unfortunately, is also why this stops at four stars. I usually get two kinds of poke and the seasoning is flavorful but can run a little salty. More importantly, the texture isn’t completely consistent. Some pieces have that clean, firm bite you want from raw tuna. Others can be softer, slightly mealy, occasionally a little fishier than I’d like.

Nothing has ever crossed into “don’t eat this” territory. It’s just the difference between good poke and the kind of poke that makes you stop talking for a minute. And this is good poke.

The portions are generous, the rice works, the seasoning scratches the itch and the whole thing makes for an easy, satisfying meal. There are probably flashier poke places in Los Angeles. There are certainly more expensive ones. Poke & More feels like neither.

It feels like a neighborhood place that does its job. And then that ridiculously kind service bumps the whole experience up another notch.

“My first time here because I just so happened to be in the area. I had the brisket & tendon phó. It was delicious. It had so much tendon and I loved it. Great flavor and freshness. I read some of the reviews that were negative. My experience was nothing but positive. I like to eat at mom and pop restaurants. The service was polite and attentive. Give this establishment a try. I think you’ll find it a tasty and positive experience.“

“Best poke I've had in SoCal! Like the poke on the islands. Very fresh and delicious. Not much parking and always a line to get in, but the guys at the counter are great and the choices are limited so it moves very fast. Not much seating but take out works. Truly recommend trying it out. If you like poke you will love it!“

“Food is great. Its a little whole in the wall. Interior is average, bit the food is delicious. Katsu and beef combo great. Dumplings great. The Teri beef at other places can be kind of fatty, it was lean and clean. The appearance of the restraunt does not do the food justice. Its our new go to in Torrance, beats our old favorite Island Hut. Sauces including chicken salad dressing are great. Not fancy just good. Grab some and head to the beach.“

“Cherrystones catered my brother's celebration of life memorial last Sunday at the Toyota Meeting Hall in Torrance. We were about 120 people. The food and presentation was excellent. We opted for the Kalua Pork and the Teriyaki chicken, both delicious. Loved the broccoli salad and Mac salad. Our guests raved about the food. Cherrystones catered my dad's memorial in 2016 and the food was excellent then. I would not hesitate to use them again if I needed a catering service. Thank you Cherrystones for doing my brother proud.“

“This FAKA makes some ono grinds! I lived Hawaii 35 years and love my plate lunches. I got the mix with garlic shrimp, karaage chocken and kalua pig! The food was top notch! I will definately return here. Great macvsalad too in a seperate container. Highly recommended! Staff was great, wait was short!“

“Have been coming here since high school. Great food, friendly service, and very fast. The portions are amazing. Had the half and half Katsu chicken curry and Bbq chicken with Hawaiian iced tea. Spam musubi is fresh and tastes great as well.“

“There’s certain l&l’s that are great out of all the ones I’ve been to this one is third in my book.
The only thing I eat all the time is chicken katsu curry so that’s what I base my review on.
I got the regular size and as always it was a lot of food enough for two people or two meals.

“I tried this place for the first time today, and I am very happy I did.
It is a hole in the wall type place with Hawaiian style poke & other Hawaiian dishes.
I had the sweet & spicy ahi and salmon combination with rice, and it was excellent, in my opinion. Also, the service was quick and really friendly.

“Closest thing to Zippys with better seasoning and portions of meat I've found. While not exactly a plate lunch as it's not traditionally in the styrofoam it closely represents zippys with higher quality when compared to fare back home. U gotta navigate yourself here since it's in a food hall in a corporate park but free parking helps. Everything is reasonably priced and they have a wide selection especially with their garlic chicken and Portuguese sausage which is hard to find at most places. Solid place that I don't mind returning to just wish they had more locations in oc but I get it.“

What really sets them apart is their fresh salmon and tuna. I haven’t found another place that offers fish this fresh and delicious. Every bowl is packed with high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and amazing flavors. The staff is friendly, the service is fast, and the restaurant is always clean. I hand over to her a $20.00 bill to finish my order and correct changes. She admitted she had mistakenly rung the transaction of funds incorrectly. The meat is medium to low quality, but it’s well seasoned and cooked properly.
The chicken was the highlight: juicy and full of flavor 👌

“I went to this location today for Lunch on 06/13/26 the service was nice. The cashier named Mailin was very polite and courtesy. I appreciated her being very helpful when I was placing my order. There were two cooks in the kitchen, I didn't get their names but food taste good and they also give good portions sizes compare to other Hawaiian BBQ places who are stingy on the meat. “Went here with my mother on Friday, September 12, 2025. They have so many delicious looking selections! My mother decided to get the Hawaiian BBQ Trio. It is $15.99 plus taxes. You are provided three different types of meat- pork, beef and chicken and macaroni and rice. I chose the fried rice. It was $13.99 plus taxes. They only advertise the Shrimp Fried Rice and since I'm not a Shrimp fan I asked if I could substitute it for a different meat. The attendant said sure would you like beef or chicken. I opted for the beef. She said no problem and substituted the meat for no extra charge. The food came out very hot within 10 minutes! They also provide bar-b-que sauce for each meal, napkins and forks. We both thought that our food tasted really good. We would definitely go back.“
