“A small hidden gem!!! We were there just last Friday. The service (as always) was wonderful, the food scrumptious and though last Friday we were sat immediately (we just happened to beat the crowd). We have had to wait a few times; and I assure everyone it is worth the wait!“

“A delicious made from scratch falafel in a great sandwich. Friendly staff. Since my first review I have returned and tried their Chicken and Cheese sandwich. Even better then the falafel sandwich! It is a chicken salad sandwich with lots of yummy chicken salad and Swiss cheese. I had their regular French fries 🍟 Very tasty. Again the staff was very friendly and helpful. “Dined here on a Monday afternoon with the hardworking Bonnie as the restaurant’s only server. Food was quick, tasty and fresh. We ordered the Canaan special fish fillet - delicious as usual but just a bit too salty to be eaten without rice, wontons in chili oil, siumai and stinky tofu. Everything was yum! It was my first time trying stinky tofu and I did enjoy it.

Now for 1 less star: I wish they had Chinese mustard instead of American mustard to go with the dumplings. And also we felt bad for Bonnie bc she was clearly slammed with to-go orders (online and walk ins) and also 3 tables of customers, not to mention it seemed like she had to run to a corner of the restaurant to get good service as she was on the phone trying to talk phone orders. She did a great job and was apologetic to all customers but I just wish she had help.

“Me and my best friend were craving Thai and decided to come here randomly. The food was amazing!! We had drunken noodles with beef and the flavors were so good and the beef was so soft and tender. We know the papaya salad is traditional Thai dish and wanted to try for the longest time. It’s so refreshing and delicious. It has a spice to it which I love. Thai tea was amazing too, a little too sweet for my liking but still 10/10. Will be coming back to try more ! Staff were so nice. :)“

The restaurant has had its share of ups and downs but I am happy with how strongly Okane Umi has powered up its menu and added some wonderfully flavorful genuine Japanese dishes. “This was the first time coming here and on a Sunday at 1, I had the whole place to myself. The crunch roll was the first to eat and I couldn't wait to eat it so that's why there's only half of the roll left. As you see I wasn't playing and the roll was well worth it. Fresh and tasty. A roll of egg rolls was a must with the sweet sauce to dip. The teriyaki combo was tasty in its own way, but hands down the crunch roll is a must. I will be definitely going back.“

“I've been eating this restaurant A 15+ year Torrance staple! Japanese-owned with authentic Chuka Ryori (rice dishes), they still serve all the original classics, and the ramen is better than ever.

While the wok dishes are nearly as good as they were historically, everything is still great and worth ordering.

Highly recommended for both newcomers and returning regulars. The crowd is a great mix of local Japanese regulars and people of every background, which speaks to how universally approachable and comforting the menu is. It remains our family's opinion that this is the best Japanese restaurant in Torrance and Carson!

“Surprisingly short wait time for Labor Day (15-20min) it was hot and humid outside would’ve been nice to come into a more cooler environment but restaurant was clean host was welcoming as well as our waiter Meghan she was nice the only thing was after we got our food we still needed couple of side things like drink refills, some ranch for our chicken strips and steak sauce but our waiter never came back by to check on us for a while so we had to flag down a different waiter. That’s the only reason why we didn’t give 5 stars but also, parking is kinda difficult not enough spaces in parking lot.Other than that the food was very good we had the Benedict’s Shortribs and it was delicious! The shortrib meat was tender and had flavor and the sauce on top was so good! The corncakes on bottom really made the whole dish my absolute favorite! Next, we tried the Strawberry Sunrise pancakes (buttermilk pancakes topped with whip cream and butter) The chicken strips with fries were cooked perfectly. Juicy on inside crunchy on the outside.we had the Pineapple upside down pancakes! (Buttermilk pancakes stuffed with sweet pineapple) I had the 2 stack and they were delicious and very satisfying I would order that again for sure. We also had the Steak and eggs with home potatoes and it too was very good. Will be coming back regularly There were 4 adults and one teen in our party and our bill came out just a little over $150 with tip around $175“

“My first time here because I just so happened to be in the area. I had the brisket & tendon phó. It was delicious. It had so much tendon and I loved it. Great flavor and freshness. I read some of the reviews that were negative. My experience was nothing but positive. I like to eat at mom and pop restaurants. The service was polite and attentive. Give this establishment a try.
