“Cara Mia catered my mother-in-law's memorial service beautifully and on quite short notice. The owner was so incredibly kind and helped us pick out the right things to feed 30+ people, was super responsive via email, and even met us in person when we picked up our order to offer her heartfelt condolences. They went above and beyond to help make this difficult day easier and we were blown away not only by their compassion, but the quality of their baked goods! The memorial guests devoured everything and many of them remarked to us how great the food was :) I can't recommend Cara Mia enough and hope to visit again under happier circumstances. Thank you!!!!“

“I have to say…I couldn’t eat the Stinky Tofu. The owner warned me when I ordered it…I’m a pretty flexible (vegan) eater, but I just couldn’t. It smells and tastes horrible. Vegavegano must be used to foods like this! That being said, the onion pancakes and the garlic string beans were fantastic!“

“A delicious made from scratch falafel in a great sandwich. Friendly staff. Since my first review I have returned and tried their Chicken and Cheese sandwich. Even better then the falafel sandwich! It is a chicken salad sandwich with lots of yummy chicken salad and Swiss cheese. I had their regular French fries 🍟 Very tasty. Again the staff was very friendly and helpful. “First time visiting and both the food + service was great. John (owner or manager?) plus both servers (Tee & Levi) were friendly and spoke to us in a relaxed manner. Even got a tour of the kitchen and the hickory feed rotisserie smoker. Had a choice between lean or fatty Brisket and went with lean; enjoyed it. Was impressed with the Mac n Cheese as the elbow noodles are large in size.“

The restaurant has had its share of ups and downs but I am happy with how strongly Okane Umi has powered up its menu and added some wonderfully flavorful genuine Japanese dishes. I read some of the reviews that were negative. My experience was nothing but positive. I like to eat at mom and pop restaurants. The service was polite and attentive. Give this establishment a try.
