“Now open for dinner on Friday and Saturday! We’ve eaten both breakfast and lunch here many times and it never disappoints. They now have 2 patios—the new one in front is a positive addition, and the original one is still lovely with all the garden plants. Good variety on the menu, kids menu, wine and wine cocktails as well.“

And boy did the tempeh tacos deliver!

Literally can't get any fresher veggies, which were piled higher that Bishop's peak (locals will appreciate the reference)!

It was 20 minutes of enjoying all the yummy veggies and then was like oh yeah, have discovered the tempeh tacos finally! Not a criticism but just pointing out how big of a serve they give you.

I desperately want to go back but live very far out of town. If I were a local, this eatery would quickly become one of my regular go-to spots!“

“Our favorite pizza place in Los Osos or Baywood Park to go to. They have a great local on tap beer selection. Thursday night is trivia night so it can be quite busy.

“Nice place but... We visited this beautiful restaurant on July 30th For drinks and appetizers. We sat outside on the patio and it was lovely, the food was delicious and the wine very enjoyable. We recognized that we were seated at the table for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours so we continued to order appetizers and dessert while we were enjoying our wine and we also planned on leaving a generous tip. Toward the end of our stay as we were ordering our final glass of wine and dessert and were told by the waitress that she could not serve us anymore alcohol and and it has something to do with the ABC but she could not explain exactly what the issue was. Being in my 60's and never being denied service in my entire life, I was quite taken aback. We were served the dessert but no more alcohol. We paid our bill and walked down the street to another establishment where we continued to have our final glass of wine and watch the sunset and then walk back to the hotel. I'm still baffled by what occurred.“

“Chapala is the BEST. I ordered My taco salad that was made wrong. I took It back and explained it was no problem I just Would like a new one made. As I was Waiting, the owner or head chef, unsure of his name, took care of my issue quickly and said come on over and have a seat, pulled out my chair for me with a bowl of chips and salsa. I was In no rush or upset by any means, just wanted the best taco salad in the world with no beans!! They have my upmost respect, business and recommendation.“

“My husband selected Fat Cats for lunch on vacation because he used to be a regular 30+ years ago. I can't rave enough about our experience! We actually got there between the lunch and dinner rushes and were met by extremely friendly crew! The diner was pleasantly decorated and the seating was comfortable. However nothing prepared me for my meal. I ordered the ahi burger. It was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and accompanied. Definitely will stop by every visit to this part of Cali!!!“

“Lotus Thai is the best tasting Thai food in town. It is takeout only, and they are consistently quick, reasonably priced, and delicious. People often talk about Noi's Thai food in downtown Los Osos, but in our opinion, Lotus Thai tastes way better! Noi's is simply more known because of its location (it's also closer to where any tourists might hang out). Check out Lotus Thai for where the locals like to go!“

While the waitstaff was very friendly and sweet, I would say they left us to our own devises (which can go either way depending on the dining experience you are looking for). We were offering still or sparkling water, but weren’t ever offered or asked if we wanted anything besides water (ie coffee, tea…). They did bring out everything so fast and were so kind and accommodating to our pup.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Avila for our anniversary and decided to try out this location, and I’m glad we did. I unfortunately can not recall the name of the blonde woman who served us, but she made the visit a pleasant experience. From giving us detailed descriptions of the wines, to making sure our glasses were not empty for too long, and for sweetly giving us some extra samples to taste when she learned about our anniversary, she really did make our wine tasting a great one. I hope someday in the future we will be able to stop by again!“

We all agreed that Rick’s was our favorite meal of this vacation, and we will be back next time in Avila Beach.“
