“This kitchen is located inside the Chevron gas station. It is a great takeout place for people who want a quick wholesome meal without the taste of animal blood in their food, as this place use halal meat.My first experience started with a warm welcome by the cook when I stopped by with my wife and a teenage son. The menu was self-explanatory. The cook, named Luqmaan, helped us pick a different dish/ combination by providing his expert opinion and recommendations. When he finished making us three meals, each with a custom-made combination, he gave 3 pieces of fresh Baklawa on the house for being first-time customers. Charges were very reasonable. After picking up the food, we decided to eat it at a local beach. The food was fresh, authentic, unique, and tasted like homemade food. It was a perfect meal for us. The only things I missed in this kitchen were some tables and chairs. We definitely will be going back very soon.Vegetarian options: Vegetarians: Ask the cook not to add the meat and pick from plenty of available veggies.Dietary restrictions: You can always create your own custom menu. Just ask the cook.“
“We were hungry for middle eastern food and heard about the International Market and Deli. We walked in and were warmly welcomed by mom and daughter who I think are the family who owns the business. They were so friendly and the whole market made me want to go shopping as well as eat. We got plates of shawerma and giros with two dolmas each plus a really nice salad for $13. I want to go there every day to visit with them as well as eat their yummy food. It was really hard not to shop for a ton of fun foods while I was there. We were on bikes, so we could only hold our food and drinks. We will be back! They have everything you would want at really reasonable prices for Monterey. It is 2 blocks from the ocean so we ate over looking the beach. It's difficult to park on Lighthouse, so park on the perpendicular street, walk or ride your bike! Enjoy!!!“
“Take out only spot with a little patio if you need it. Excellent baklava. I had the gyro greek salad which was tasty and different than ordinary fast food Mediterranean fare. As the name suggests, lots of paprika! Partner enjoyed her wrap. Definitely authentic and has a Michelin recommendation from 2019. Would have liked to try more! We ordered dolmas and did not receive them - oh well!“
“This place is now called Spotted Duck. (I wonder when TripAdvisor will pick up on this). It was our first time and we were early. I had the halibut special with a Bernardus Sauv blanc. It came sitting on some black rice, topped with lobster pieces, arugula, and some cubed watermelon. There was some kind of green sauce spread on the plate to compliment the dish. It was pretty. The flavors came together very well. I thought it was a great dinner main. My husband had the sautéed rock cod with artichokes, puréed potatoes, and capers with some brown butter sauce. He said his fish was salty but at least it was offset by the bland potatoes and vinegared artichokes. We shared some beignets with salted honey on the side for dessert. The rosemary sugar coating was good enough for me. But my husband enjoyed the salted honey. Our service was great. Our server was congenial, attentive and patient. He was quite informative too. All in all a pleasant meal. Maybe we will try the duck next time.“
“This place is a must go and experience. The atmosphere and the food are the best. I've had lots of chicken kabobs and moussaka and I highly recommend both of these items. This was my first time here and it did not disappoint. The music and dancing was awesome. Every so often one beautiful song (live music) and the whole restaurant is dancing, and then the music stops and everyone goes back to eating their yummy food. Perfect evening in Carmel by the Sea. I will be back very soon!“
“Carmel's Bistro Giovanni is our favorite restaurant in Carmel and it is ALWAYS just great in every category. We have been going there since its opening a long time ago and it never changes, always a fantastic experience with excellent food and service.“
“I go about once a year and the wait staff (one guy in particular) remembers me every time. I don't know how he does it, but he recalls who I was with and what I ordered and what I talked about the last time I was there. This has been going on since 2018 and I've been maybe 8 times, and he still pulls it off.Food is excellent, atmosphere is phenomenal, and it's a sure-fire hit for anyone visiting the area. I took my best friend after he got engaged, I took my girlfriend when I wanted to impress her, I took my mom when I wanted to treat her, and I took my girlfriend's family when I wanted them to see their future son-in-law has good taste. Love love love this place, will continue to bring people and sing it's praises. Great desserts too, both the port and the chocolate. Literally the best baklava I've ever had. Also give that one guy a raise, every year I forget his name and he literally remembers to ask how my cat is doing and if I want the dish I ordered 2 years ago now that it's back on the menu.“
“I frequent both Petra Restaurant and Petra Cafe. Recently, we took a party of 12 friends to the restaurant and all of our friends thanked us! The Gyro is hands down the BEST I’ve ever eaten and my absolute favorite. Whether you order the kafta or a steak, both are flavorful and so tender. Some kafta can be dry, not this one! Their falafel is the best too, really. Our friends loved the lamb shank and said it was so tender and delicious. Be sure to have tea or a Turkish coffee with the baclava! From the first bite of the baclava you’ll find your tongue floating in a sea of honey. The tea service is beautiful. From writing this review I’m ordering for take out right now! I encourage you to dine in as the experience is really like dining in the chef’s home. I just love it.“
“Fantastic food and service!! So delicious!! Portions were generous. A little off the beaten path. A hidden gem. We’ll be back for sure. Healthy and hearty.Vegetarian options: Falafel, hummus, lentils, beans, fries, moreWheelchair accessibility: Ramp in and lots of space for wheelchair“
“the portion size for the fajitas was very large, although the taste was pretty average for its price. i enjoyed the clam chowder and onion rings, and the seafood pasta was decent. fantastic service as well. overall, it was a good experience, but maybe i wouldn't come back besides on special occasions.“
“Always a fantastic experience. We come out from Texas two or three times a year and always have a meal at PortaBella. Fantastic food, friendly professional service, warm ambience and a definite one to repeat. Fantastic braised short ribs. The bisque is amazing. My wife loves the salmon. plenty of dessert options.“
“My family was in town visiting and we tried this restaurant for the first time. The waiters/waitresses were fast and polite. The food was superb (I had the gyro plate). The food was brought out quickly, it was hot, the presentation was excellent, and the meat was very tender. All of us were pleased. Highly recommended restaurant in the area.“
“Beautiful spot! The cocktails are out of this world (that’s coming from someone who doesn’t typically enjoy cocktails). The Northern Lights cocktail is phenomenal. The service is wonderful. Special shout out to Trevor! Truly spectacular.“
“This Restaurant had me at, welcome - come right in, and the service continued without a single hiccup. It was a very special night celebrating a birthday for the closest person to me on the planet, including friends I hold dear. The food was some of the best I have ever had and the service and accommodations needed were performed seamlessly. I will be back and would make a two hour trip again to stay in Pacific Grove to experience this food and the kindness once again. The place was beautiful and the persons running it even more so.“
“I eat here 3 or 4 times a week (for dinner). I love it. They have the best fast food style Greek food around. The salad and protein plates are my absolute favorites. I like to get chicken and salad most of the time. And sometimes I will get the meat and salad. The dolmas are delicious and so is the pita bread and hummus. Will come back and eat here again soon. I love this place.Wheelchair accessibility: There is wheelchair friendly parking here.“
