T'chaka a Taste of Haiti is a phenomenal spot offering delicious Haitian cuisine. The hen, akra, fried pork dish (Griot), and jerk chicken are standout dishes. The restaurant has great vibes and exceptional staff who create a welcoming and kid-friendly environment. The chef even interacts with young guests, making it a unique experience. Portions are generous, and the food is so good that many look forward to returning. The oxtails are served with rice and beans, sweet and savory plantain plus pikliz and the rhum punch is perfect. The restaurant is located in a super cute, historic part of Oakland and has beautiful artwork and designs.
There is a bar and cute sitting area if you need to wait for a table. Both indoor and a spacious patio on the corner of Swan’s marketplace are available. The jerk chicken is flavorful and well-seasoned, and the jerk chicken wings have a perfection flavor and spice level. The Griot is crispy, juicy and savory, a big plate of food with rice and beans and pikliz, not too spicy, just right. Grilled oysters are also tasty and strongly recommended. Service is friendly, relaxed and excellent. It is a pleasant place to spend an hour. The food is worth every penny. Online ordering is available too.
