“I’ve lived in this town since I was 4 years old so I remember what La Costa used to be. It was a tiny shack that had the best Mexican food around. Now a days they have a nice building with a fountain outside. It’s so convenient for me to get a quick bite after I’m done with Jiu jitsu at Growth Mindset Collective. I really love this place since the owner lives here in Oakley. We should all be supporting our local business owners that make Oakley a good place to live.“

During a recent work event, a colleague had the idea of ordering a lavish spread of delicious dishes for the team. The order included an impressive variety of mouth-watering Mexican delicacies, such as 12 beef tacos, 12 cheese enchiladas, 12 beef enchiladas, chicken tacos, and a generous serving of rice and beans. You can see workers making food, but absolutely no interaction with customers. After ordering, just stand to the side and wait for someone to place your meal up on the counter. Then you have to walk over to the counter to read the name to see if it's yours. Also... this location especially seems to forget items routinely. “We stopped by Taqueria Diaz for a late lunch after cherry-picking in Brentwood, on our way to Tracy. My wife was wanting something spicy, so after checking Google reviews, we decided to give this spot a try—and we’re so glad we did.

We ordered four tacos and a bottle of Coke, totaling around $16. Since the restaurant doesn’t have indoor seating, everything came neatly packed in to-go boxes. Each container held two tacos, a slice fresh lemon, pickled jalapeños, and radishes. On the side, they also included grilled onion and pepper, still warm and full of smoky flavor. And, a bag of taco chips was included three different salsas.

Every bite was simply amazing—honestly hard to describe just how good the tacos were. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the balance of spice, acidity, and freshness was spot on. As a bonus, one of the staff kindly offered a rice milk dessert with cinnamon, which was delicious and comforting.

Though it’s a slight detour off the main route, Taqueria Diaz is absolutely worth the stop. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), don’t miss this place—it’s a hidden gem.

I ordered the chicken burrito bowl. The dish had the right texture, taste and an excellent mixture of ingredients. As I have grown older, I assure you that it is the type of customer service and quality of product that will keep me going back. I give them a 5 out of 5 for the reasons stated above. “I ordered the Chilli relleno burrito. The best burrito I have had in years. I've had their street tacos at a party they catered years ago. The best Mexican food in the area. You should definitely try them out, you won't be disappointed.“

“I’ve been here a few times and have always had a great time . Personally my favorite is during the colder months , they start serving tortilla soup. All other times I’ve ordered chilaquiles mild. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try the hot version, they offer to put some of the hot sauce in a little cup so you can control the heat. The staff is very attentive and always makes sure my glass or mug is full. If you’re visiting bethel, then I’d recommend this place and the bar right next door.

They deserve the support and the other place already gets plenty of business because of their location and the fact that most people think it's the only place in town.
