“On my way home from church, I searched Yelp for Thai restaurants in the area. Yelp gps took me to this place and I'm glad to have found it. I was pleasantly surprised they offer lunch special on weekends - it was the best choice for me as I was dining alone. I got the lunch special plate of grilled chicken with peanut sauce over brown rice, veggies and salad. Such a generous delicious serving. I would have preferred the peanut sauce served on the side but I failed to ask. The tangy & sweet salad compliments the chicken with peanut sauce very well. Their Thai iced tea wasn't too sweet which is perfect. I got the fried banana with coconut ice cream for dessert. Bananas rolled in brown sugar served with a bit of honey. So crunchy! Perfect dessert for me as I love fried bananas! Ice cream was so creamy. Take note coconut ice cream doesn't have a strong taste, it's a bit bland if you're used to American ice cream. Serving is good for 2 or 3 people. The place is divided into two sections. It's nice and clean inside. Service is prompt and friendly. Very warm Asian ladies providing service with a smile. I'll be back!“
“Came here for drinks and appetizers. Amazing crispy catfish salad (so bright, balanced, savory, herbaceous) and the mak grut (keffir lime leaf) cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted—complex, fragrant, refreshing and just delicious. As a person with Thai ancestry who is picky about his Thai food, I definitely recommend this place for a creative spin on Thai food that still respects the proper balance of flavor, at very least based on the two things I tasted!Great service and atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to come back and have a full meal.“
“Hole in the wall Thai restaurant. Traditional flavors that hit all the right notes. I've been to tons of Thai restaurants all over the United States and this place is by far one of the greatest of all time. Reasonably priced and dishes pack a huge punch. Don't let the decor or location fool you, this place is worth checking out. I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks lol. Servers are always nice and food comes out PIPING HOT. Pro tip, ask for dishes spicier if you can hang and ask for with the spice rack to add an extra kick!“
“Portions are HUGE! Came here my myself and got two things and was surprised by the size when they came.Khao soy ($18) was good. Fresh noodles were soft and not overcooked. Flavor was good without being too salty.Fried clear rice roll wraps ($18) were crispy and tasty. I’ve had a hard time finding these in other restaurants. Love that it comes with lettuce and fresh herbs to balance it out.Would definitely come back to try their other items, but recommend coming with friends to share the large portions.“
“Friendly staff and lovely seating interior. Food was delicious with good wok fire. The sizzling seafood plate was flavorful and went well with jasmine rice. The red duck curry was delicious with sticky rice. Coconut pad Thai was very satisfying and great portion. I saw lots of take out orders getting delivered every several minutes at dinner time. Glad to find out about this restaurant as it stays open till 10 pm. Easy parking in its own lot. I will come back to try other dishes.“
“We came here for dinner and had a great meal! We ordered the Thai iced tea to drink, the Lao sausages as an appetizer, and the pad see ew with beef, phao larb, and yellow curry with chicken as mains. Everything was good, and the service was excellent! The spice levels here are no joke, so definitely stay below levels 2-3. The owner is super nice, and she even explained the differences between Laotian and Thai cuisine to us!“
“Visited this local Lao spot on a friend’s recommendation and wow, it didn’t disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was cozy and welcoming - exactly what you’d want from a neighborhood gem. The service was on point too; our server was super friendly, gave us great recommendations, and really knew their stuff. Now, let’s talk food because that’s the real star here. I went for the Pad Kee Mao, and it was absolutely delicious - spicy, flavorful, and just packed with all the good stuff. But the unexpected highlight? Their oysters! Affordable, fresh, and just so tasty, they were a total game-changer for me. It’s not often you find such quality at those prices.Overall, this place is a must-visit if you’re in the mood for some authentic Lao cuisine or just in search of a solid dining experience. Great food, great prices, and great service. I’ll definitely be back!“
“Best Thai food in the Bay Area. The Khao Soi soup is an explosion of flavor and so delicious. The way they package it to go, your soup and chicken stay hot and your crispy bits stay crispy it's magical. Every time family visits me here, I order from here. The staff is also incredible. I will continue to frequent this place regularly until I leave the Bay.“
“Such a great restaurant! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are all super friendly, courteous and efficient! Hats off to the kitchen, the staff, and the chefs! Pipi & May are fantastic!!! I highly recommend this restaurant if you love Thai cuisine!!! 5 stars ? ? ? ? ?“
“On this cold atmospheric rainy day, I'm glad I scored a parking spot right outside otherwise I might given up on trying this place. I'm glad the parking gods were with me today. It gave me the chance to try their Thai beef boat noodle soup. Omg it was perfect. The broth was a flavorful deep sweet soy sauce based broth with earthy spice undertones. The thinly sliced beef was tender. The noodles were al dente with a nice chew. Perfection in a bite. They had cute condiments but I didn't need to use anything. It was super tasty as it is. Anytime I'm in Alameda I'll definitely stop by for some great Thai food. A cute sweet Thai family runs this place.“
“The food was made Northern home-made style. It doesn't deviate so the menu is predictable but the quality was excellent and better than most in this area. Service is spectacular... I'm a child of a restaurant owner with high expectations! Crab fried rice had chunks of crab vs minced pieces. Salmon curry was full of crunchy vegetables and served 2. Fresh rolls, Thom Yum soup and calamari were all worth ordering.“
“Our lunches, both Mango salads, were vibrant & fresh, packed with flavor, three plump shrimp and beautifully presented with a gorgeous purple flower. Will be getting cravings for this again very soon and all summer long. We are so looking forward to trying all of their dishes, they all looked incredible as we were making our way out of this elegant restaurant. Be sure to put enough money in your meter before entering the restaurant ($2.50 per hour). The fine (it is a private lot) is hefty.“
“It's a welcome sight to see the original owners of the restaurant back! The husband is the waiter and the wife is the cook. I ordered the exotic herb salad and pad Thai. Both were authentic, flavorful, and simply delicious! It was takeout, so I didn't take photos.“
“Our neighborhood finally has a new gem of a restaurant! Everything about this spot is wonderful. The attention to detail in the decor (cozy fireplace, exposed brick, distressed woodwork, leaf-shaped cushions, gold silverware, plants galore) is transportive. The food is ravishingly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. On two different visits, we shared Market Salads, Chia Bowls, Yogurt Bowls, and Lava Eggs. Tanzie, the owner, is delightful, and you can tell she has a hand in every dish. My 8-year-old, who is a very picky eater, loved the yogurt bowl, eggs, and especially the Thai Beignets! Finally, a brunch I can look forward to, a few steps from my house...“
“Stay true to the authenticity, Larb Thai is a hidden gem in a small strip mall along San Pablo. Their menu has not changed much because they don’t need to. All are very good. I do miss the specials they used to have which were incredibly Thai. Daily menu’s favorite for me are THE rice ball salad, larva, pad de ew, drunken noodle and boat noodle. Khao Soi, of course pad Thai. Although the lemongrass chicken was good too! Service was attentive. Dining area is tastefully decorated. It is my family’s perennial favorite since it was introduced to us by a professional foodie.Vegetarian options: All dishes that can be made to vegetarian are clearly marked.Kid-friendliness: high chairs“
“I wish I found this place sooner. The restaurant just opened a couple years ago. Funny cause this isn’t that far from the other Thai resto my boyfriend and I used to go and didn’t know they exist. Anyways I ordered their Tom Yum fried rice that comes with grilled salmon and it was really delicious. For me it was the best Tom yum fried rice I’ve ever had. The fish cakes did not disappoint they were yummy. Their roti according to my boyfriend is the most delicious hetried so far.“
“Wawa Thai delivered a delightful dining experience with their take-out Pad Thai. The dish was well-executed, boasting a harmonious blend of flavors and fresh ingredients. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the balance of sweet, sour, and savory elements was spot on. Portion size was generous, ensuring satisfaction with every bite. Wawa Thai certainly earns a recommendation for those craving authentic Thai cuisine.“
“Ordered lunch to go for three. Quick and courteous service. Excellent curries and pad Thai. A number of vegetarian options. The curried fish is incredible! Will definitely go again!Vegetarian options: A number of vegetarian dishes with vegetarian options on a few dishes, but not with the main curries.“
“I have had plenty of Thai/Laos food, with some favorites. Therefore, I believe my experiences meet the requirements to post a review. Without any biases, Sue's Kitchen is AMAZING!!! If I had a microphone, yes it would have been dropped. A must try, the Onion Rings and Calamari (yes it's fried, what did you think?). Any time I go to a 'new-to-me' Thai restaurant, I get the Pad Thai and Spicy Basile Chicken. Great dishes to use as a measuring rod. In my loud voice, "OUTSTANDING" !!! This is just the beginning of my journey through Sue's menu. Hope to see you along the way!!!“
“Our dining experience at Bangkok Garden last evening was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the staff. They promptly escorted us to our table, where our orders were taken and served with remarkable efficiency. Accompanied by our two young children, who were exceptionally well-catered to, we indulged in a variety of dishes. The grilled chicken satay and the fresh spring rolls were the stars of the evening. It's certain that we will be returning for another memorable meal. Bangkok Garden comes highly recommended!“
“The food is very good, as are the prices. Duck curry is excellent, although they could be a tiny bit more generous with the duck. A sense of authentic Thai cuisine and culture right down to the seasoning and herbal tea leaves.Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options.Wheelchair accessibility: Door seems wide enough. No stairs. Some tables accessible from the doorway. It is a relatively small restaurant.“
“We checked this place out for Oakland's restaurant week. I was absolutely amazing. Every dish was cooked to perfection. The salmon was great, I love crunchy fish skin and they nailed it. We also tried the red curry. I was all delicious. The service was awesome as well. Even though is was the end of the night and they were closing shop, the staff didn't make us feel rushed. I can genuinely say this was some of the best restaurant food I've had in a while. Every dish was bursting with flavor without being over seasoned or too salty.“
“The appetizers, mains, and deserts are all top notch here. As a "farang" who worked in Thailand, in large part because of my love of the food and culture, I am picky about my Thai spots. This one hits all the high notes. They can make anything American spiciness, but can also do "ped maak" for those of us that love true Thai spiciness. meat and veg dishes are equally delicious. Presentation is artful and the service is tremendous with the sweetest staff around. Whether you do noodles, meats, or veggies for the main, don't miss the fried bananas and coconut ice cream desert!“
“Generous portions of food, packed with flavor! We got these dishes with spring rolls and shared it all1. Sweet chicken on rice - crispy sweet & spicy chicken came with rice, loved it2. Pad Thai3. Duck noodle soupDelicious and packaged very well.“
“This is our first time at this place. The place has a good number of tables and clean.Servers are very friendly and attentive.Food is great! Especially love the Organic Special I had with brown rice. My partner's dish Khao Soi (beef curry noodles) was also tasty with enough spice to it.Will definitely return again.“
“Super fresh, good for a variety of eaters with different appetites. Very happy with my clay pot veggies, steamed to just tender and well seasoned/sauced. Service was a little scattered, but it might have been a busier lunch shift than normal.“
“This is a cozy little hole in the wall spot for authentic Laotian food. The food is consistent for dine-in and takeout and has great portions for the price. I'm always guaranteed leftovers.I suggest trying the namkhao, gaeng nor mai, and raw beef laab (if you like raw, but cooked beef is available as well).Everything about the place is great, besides the location. It's happens to be in a not so friendly looking location, but don't let that stop you from trying out their food. Get take out and you won't be disappointed.“
“This is my go-to for Thai. Regardless of what youre looking for the flavors here are near perfect. The restaurant is clean and the service is always great, fast and friendly. The selections on the menu are wide and everything is fresh and adequately seasoned. If you like your food on the spicy side dont forget to ask for their spice caddy to bring all the flavors together for the full experience. Recommended dishes would of course start with their shrimp fresh rolls, the lemongrass or ginger chicken, any of their curries, the pad eggplant if youre trying to be good and definitely try the duck or the crispy trout if youre not. Would I return? Any chance i get.“
“We've been thinking about trying this restaurant for some time now, and I'm very glad we did. Our past Thai favorite, Champa Garden, seems to have gone downhill. Charm Thai Bistro, our new favorite, is much closer. We split an appetizer, the puff pastry turnovers, which we never had in Thailand. The waiter told us that they were street food. Whatever, they're delicious. Then we had a Pad Thai (very good) and a green curry. I thought it was perfect, but it was a little spicy for my husband, so if you prefer a milder spiced dish, tell the waiter. I can't wait to try their other curries and house specialties. I might even try the Black Sticky Rice Mango pudding, even though after having it in Thailand, it's always something of a disappointment in the U.S.“
“In a rough part of town but that's what takeout is for. You gotta try their Naem Khao Tod...legit thai food. You also know it's legit thai when you order it as mild and there's enough heat to make your nose think about sweating. That's my fair warning to folks who are used to "white girl spicy."“
“We had diner at Thai Lao restaurant this evening with some friends and got a wonderful experience. The restaurant is very cosy and well managed, the food is delicious healthy and the plates well served. People are efficient, dedicated and polite. Special thanks to the boss, a wonderful women, Merci beaucoup et q bientôt!“
“Great Thai restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere and service. Some of the dishes are outstanding. The Kha Moo was an excellent dish of Thai meets Chinese influence with meat that just melts in your mouth. The fresh spring rolls appetizer is not to be missed; delicious ingredients served with 2 well contrasting “
“Plearn Thai Palace is very traditional this place with nice Thai food. They have their Singha beer, one can enjoy while eating spicy food. The restaurant is small in seating but seems to be popular for take outs.Vegetarian options: YesDietary restrictions: Food for allParking: Street parking or near the libraryWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“This place is a go to, open pretty late good food and nice sized portions. The service is always good and fast. Usual orders are duck noodle soup or chicken pad see ew. Duck soup is never to oily and seasoned well.Pad see ew is flavorful with lots of chicken and veggies, not too sweet or saucy.Parking: Free parking lot in the shopping centerWheelchair accessibility: Accessible and welcome“
“We have been dining at Soi4 since it opened. Most recently we have been ordering takeout which is always good. We stopped in for dinner last night and found they had a fabulous happy hour menu. Extensive list of well balanced cocktails for $10, and small bites for $8. Everything was delicious and service and presentation were stellar. An enjoyable evening was had by all and we will definitely dine in more often!“
“Went for lunch and was not disappointed! The food and the drinks were very good, although there is a certain over-the-top quality to everything as well. It almost hints at being a bit touristy without explicitly giving that vibe. But don’t take that as a negative!I would note that the beverage and food prices are quite high, so do not come here expecting a bargain. This is where you go when you want an Experience!“
“Consistent, tasty, and super fast and friendly service. If you’re looking for the classics of Thai street food, you’ll find them here. Not avant garde, just everything as you’d expect - which is great. Mild is mild, spicy is spicy. Vegetarian options: Likely anything can be made vegetarian aside from fried chicken.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp into the main dining area.“
“I ordered a chicken pad kea mao (drunken noodles) and it was really good although… they gave me pork instead of chicken. And I didn’t know about that until they came over to the table with the plate that had chicken. Thankfully I am able to eat pork but… be careful if you are not— ask twice to make sure you get the right dish. Otherwise, they were very accommodating to our very large group.“
“My friends and I were there last night for the first time and the food was DELICIOUS!! Interior is nice clean and neat. Service was on point we came home with a lot of leftover. They also have Fresh coconut juice which very fresh. Samosa was delicious.Spicy Catfish is a MUST to try.Mama Keemow was delicious Fresh Spring rolls was beautifully wrapped with sauces on the side. Lastly the dessert!! Mango Sticky rice and ice cream with Roti. We had a food coma afterward. I will be back to try some other dishes.“
“This is a modern and casual dining Thai restaurant with affordable price that provides various appetizers, soup, chef's recommended menu, salad, barbecue, noodle, curry, wok, along with alcholic and non alcoholic drinks. We were here to have a dinner with a friend who is a university student here, so that this place is suitable for the students. We tried Panang Nua for $15.95 as one of the chef's re commended menu here. A plate of white rice with the tender beef, Thai chili, coconut milk, peanut sauce, basil, zucchini, green bean, red bell in a thick sweet and savory curry sauce. For the drink, my friend recommended Singha Thai Beer. This was my first time having this Thai beer, and I could say that Singha is good! It's not bitter, but not overly sweet.“
“The food served to me was originally bprderline flavorless, so I had to send it back, which I seldom do. Thankfully, they added more sauce and sent it back out, but it's honestly a little worrying that they looked at my pale pad see ew and thought it was ok to serve. The chicken was also overcooked. :(I tried my friend's chili lemongrass fish and that was really good, so maybe just stray away from the bland pad see ew.On the other hand, while expensive, the drinks were really good. The lychee mojito was my favorite, but I have a lychee bias!Parking: There's parking right out front along University“
“Delicious food and great service. We ordered the Tom Kha soup, pumpkin curry and pad see ew. We were given large portions so nice for leftovers! The service was excellent very friendly and checking in on us periodically. We came before the dinner rush and loved having the space and staff attention.Vegetarian options: Most items you can choose your own protein including veggies or tofu“
“We used to LOVE Giin Thai on Shattuck, and these are the same people! We had the Khao soi, string beans, thom kha chicken and it was all so delicious. So happy to have found this place. Will definitely be coming back. ?Vegetarian options: Khao soi, egg plant, string beans, and moreParking: Their parking lot is small (8-10? spots), but we've always found a spot in it, and there is street parking too.“
“I'm not even kidding when I say the chicken on the BBQ chicken sandwich is the best chicken I've ever had on a sandwich ever. It was so juicy and the sandwich was incredible. I cannot wait to come back. I cannot recommend highly enough!“
“I got food for takeout! Unfortunately no pictures because I was too excited to eat, haha. Ordered online and food was not quite ready when I arrived to pick up, but the lovely person behind the counter was eager to help me with packing utensils and extras. She asked if I wanted hot sauce and I agreed; came home to find out she had packed not only a container of chili sauce, but also individual containers of chili oil and chili powder! It also turns out I didn't need it; the spice here is real, haha. Not enough to stop me from eating it, but enough to remind me of consequences a day later. As others have noted, the pad see ew (and probably the pad Thai though I have not tried it yet) are sweeter than I am used to. I'm not sure why it gave me vibes of maple syrup.Everything was well packed. I got the khao soi (curry noodle soup) and none of it spilled in transit. I don't know why the restaurant was pretty empty around noon on a Wednesday, but I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu.“
“Great spot to get wonderful Thai food. The ginger salad is a MUST try, palate cleansing salad with fresh ginger strips, crunchy veggies topped off with nuts & a sweet dressing. The pad thai (beef) is also amazing with a sweet & tangy taste.“
“Nice, located of Willow shopping center. Several eateries nearby including a drive in Starbucks. I looked around and decided to go for the Won Thai restaurant, ordered the lunch special, fried catfish with rice, on the plate I got a colorful plate with a scoop of steam rice next to pan fried filet of catfish with plenty of green beans, fresh tomato pieces, sautéed on a lite curry sauce and sliced purple and green cabbage garnish.“
“Dropped in last night for a late dinner, 8:30 PM. I ordered a chicken dish off a new menu and it was the single best meal I have had in some time. Chicken, coconut, rice, cilantro and a wonderful bowl of broth.Cannot recall the name, Ro-Rhotem?They got beyond the usual noodles that so many people seem to love.Expand your horizons and come in for a visit. There is so much more to Thai cuisine and this is one place to get it.“
“This was my first time here and won't be my last. The yellow curry was so rich in flavor!I did not like how the Thai ice tea was served. I would have preferred a regular glass but it was creative I guess. The service was pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary. I would said to give this a try if you haven't already!Dietary restrictions: You can request for non-dairy Thai iced tea.“
“I walked into a nice restaurant decorated in with Thai art, classy cocktail music, and a smiling white with a ponytail. He asked me what I wanted for a drink, so I asked for my favorite drink, Thai ice coffee. The delicious iced coffee came very quickly in a canning jar with handles. My order of three lunch specials was cooked and served very quickly. For most people, ordering one lunch special is enough, but I wanted to try their food in a big way. Only then can you experience the chef's cuisine. Also, I'm babysitting a cat here in Orinda for nine days, so I haven't wanted to cook if i can order enough to eat delicious leftovers. What a pleasant surprise, the food, atmosphere, and the three dishes, were quite fresh and delicious. The Pad Thai, which I ordered with chicken, was very nice, I had delicately seasoned noodles, shredded carrots, shredded cabbage, green onions, fried tofu, fried eggs, bean sprouts, and finely chopped peanuts. For an extra $2, you can get the egg roll and salad, but I already had those with the two other lunch specials. The #6 Peanut Prawns, which were deep fried in a light batter, came with peanut curry sauce over a bed of spinach in a bowl, served with slices of orange, a crunchy Noodle salad, rice and a fried vegetarian Thai egg roll. Delicious! The prawns were a decent size, and quite tasty. My last dish was #12, Garlic Pepper Calamari, with onions, zucchini, mushrooms, green onions, fried noodles, were served with the sliced oranges, plus a noodles salad with carrots, cucumber, red cabbage, and shredded iceberg lettuce, deep fried noodles, were crunchy and fresh with a light dressing. Overall, the food was quite superb, my mom lived in Bangkok for fourteen years, so I know how to appreciate Thai food. I will definitely come here again if I'm visiting the area again.“
