“Interesting location as it’s part of a bowling alley. I ordered off of the Korean menu and it was great. The cooking was very homestyle and it really brought back memories of the food I ate when I lived in Korea. Definitely recommend. I ordered the Dak dori tang (spicy chicken stew) and kimchi pancake. Service was great as well.”

“I went there for the $1 Frosty. It's very teeny tiny, so I bought two. LOL I also got a baked potato, and it was pretty dry, even after smothering it with butter and sour cream. I was disappointed as I remember them being much better years ago. 😢”

East Bay BBQ

Fans of Texas-style BBQ have inevitably heard of Horn Barbecue based in Oakland and helmed by Pitmaster Matt Horn

I’ve never been to the original location and have read tidbits about the recent press issues but decided to stop by one of their newer locations and try for myself

The Lafayette space has been open a little less than a year (Dec 2024) and their Elk Grove location just opened (June 2025) with another fourth location already planned. It’s clear Horn is in expansion mode

I stopped by for dinner and many items were sold out including the Beef Rib (Sat only), multiple sides, and banana cream pie. Luckily, they still had brisket (both fatty and lean), pork ribs and shredded pork

Manning the station was Jordan Horn, the brother of Matt Horn and he was personable and funny talking about the expanding business and favorites of guests

We sampled the fatty brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork and had a side of mac 'n cheese. Everything was solid. The brisket was flavorful but would have loved it more moist nor tender. Similar with the pork ribs. Pulled pork was similar to other places but definitely had to lean more into their supplied bbq sauce

Admittedly, we came at end of day and the brisket had probably finished hours before. Jordan also gave some great pointers on how to order next time and I appreciate that.

For barbeque fans, it's nice to have another option in East Bay (especially one that serves beef ribs) and not have to travel to Oakland

Baxter’s has a welcoming vibe when you first walk in, and it gets even better after you meet some of the team! My server, Michelle, absolutely made the evening for me! She had some great menu suggestions and top-notch service and was great to chat with! Kenneth also made sure that everything tasted great, and I was enjoying my visit! Hats off to the Chef and her ability to create some unique dishes!

I appreciated the menu, which has a little bit of everything. I instantly got that feeling that I was in for a treat. To kick things off, I went with the Baked Brie En Croute, which was outstanding! My main entree was a tough choice, though. There was a special, Gumbo Pasta, which I had never encountered before and piqued my interest. Let me tell you, this special should be on the menu, and if it is available when you stop in, it's a must!

I was torn about dessert, but I went with the New Orleans Bread Pudding at Michelle's suggestion! I'm sure all the desserts are fantastic, but this one has got to be at the top of the list!

All in all, if you can swing by Baxter’s, don't pass it up! Well worth it!”

“If you're looking for good, authentic, Desi food in Walnut Creek, look no further than Methi! We tried their Chicken Tikka Masala (extra spicy), Veg Samosas, Onion Bhaji, and their Mango Pickle, along with Garlic Naan. Everything was spot on!

If you're vegetarian, they also have plenty of vegetarian options so definitely give it a try. I'm not sure if I spoke to the owner over the phone but the gentleman who picked up was super helpful and friendly!

10/10 would recommend if you're in the area and craving Desi food!”

“OMG 😳 The Ceviche (not counting my wife’s handmade ceviche) is the best I have ever tasted, and I’ve tasted a lot of ceviche. It’s soooo good. I had the Mango 🥭 Avocado 🥑 Shrimp 🍤 Ceviche it was like an explosion of flavors in my mouth, I couldn’t stop eating it. Great tacos 🌮 everything was beyond my expectations. I have probably walked by Puesto’s a hundred times but not anymore it will be my restaurant of choice when in Concord you have to try it. Sorry no picture of the Ceviche 😋”

“Seems to be primarily a pick up/take out place but I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a table if you’ve got the time! The interior is beautifully decorated with a fountain that adds a delightful ambiance. Obviously, the food was fantastic, and the servers are also really attentive and kind. Five stars, ten out of ten, give them a Michilen already ⭐️”

“I don’t rate places often, but when I do, it’s because I seriously love them. This place has become one of my favorite places in the region after just one visit!! Perfectly balanced and satisfying flavors and unreal quality of the dishes. Service was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was great as well. Every dish was even better than I had imagined and seriously just so good. I texted my friend about it after the first bite to say how amazing it was. Will be taking tons of people here!”
