“Stopped by Be Bright Coffee and ordered a cortado made with their Colombia Paola Trujillo Wush Wush Natural. The coffee had tasting notes of blood orange, red currant, honeysuckle, and tart cherry juice, which made it a really interesting coffee to experience in a milk drink.

The cortado itself was very well executed. The milk had a smooth, creamy texture with strong integration, and the body remained cohesive throughout most of the drink. As I worked my way through it, the espresso and milk continued to hold together nicely without developing a thick or separated layer of foam. The tasting notes had good clarity and came through well in the milk. The latte art could have been a little cleaner and more defined, but that’s a minor presentation detail and didn’t take away from the quality of the drink.

My main technical feedback would be the temperature. It was served just slightly hotter than I think it should have been. The flavors were still clear from the beginning, but the difference became noticeable as the cortado cooled. The coffee really opened up, and those fruit-forward characteristics became even more expressive and enjoyable. Starting the drink at that slightly lower temperature would have made the experience feel more dialed in from the very first sip.

I gave Be Bright four stars, and part of that comes down to the $10 price of the cortado. At that price point, I think the expectations naturally move into a different category. When you’re paying $10 for a cortado featuring a coffee like this, I’m expecting the execution to be as close to perfect as possible. The slightly higher serving temperature, along with the minor presentation detail, was enough to keep this one from reaching that level for me.

The customer service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the person working the register was especially nice and made the experience feel inviting. Overall, it was a very good cortado with quality coffee behind it, and I’d definitely return to try some of the other beans they offer.“

“We went for a late breakfast before a matinée show. The sandwiches were great, service nice and ambiance nice. Even though I prefer full service places, I sure would, when in the area, go again and can recommend the place. However, I doubt that I would do a 30+ min detour just to eat or drink here - mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five stars. So it is a heartfelt, recommending ★★★★ out of five stars.“

“I have been going to Porto's since the 1980's..the one in Glendale. How elated I was with having them being in Northridge where I live. The food is terrific and the lines go fast due to a tremendous quick system they have. The catering for parties has never let us down and people you have invited that never have experienced Portos are thrilled. The cakes are delicious. What I do miss is not having the individual cake slices for purchase so you can experience the taste. They only have the neapolitan, Parisian, and carrot for slices. I've seen the menu change over time and do miss some of the items.“

I wanted to try the brisket, but they were out so I ended up with the steak sandwich and they were really apologetic and nice about it and even tossed in some extra freebies in my bag. “Far too packed inside, makes for an extraordinarily loud and less than pleasant dinning experience. Better to eat on the patio, not on the street. The food portions are a little lackluster but the options are expensive. Get water and your drink for there are too few servers to attend to timely refills. This is the type of place you would expect to have carafes of juice and personal pots of coffee but nah, cant be bothered. Cocktails are whats on one of the two menus, so that accounts for part of the noise, too.“

When we were lined up some band was taking up over half the sidewalk so they could film something, which was annoying but not Community Goods’ fault. “A place like Goncho Bistro makes me wish I lived in the neighborhood, the menu, the prices, the casual atmosphere were all so appealing on paper and once I went, it all delivered. I was staying at a friends nearby and wandered in on a Tuesday evening when the fish joint a couple doors down was closed.

I was greeted by whom I believe was one of the owners as he was assembling some furniture and beckoned in warmly to order. A family of three was about to order as well and I insisted not to worry about getting mine out first as I was not in a hurry and going to sit outside. I ordered the Goncho burger combo, a kiwi chicken salad, and a San Pellegrino soda. He had asked if it was my first time in and as a result didn't charge me for the beverage which was a kind gesture.

I set up outside at slightly wobbly wicker table and enjoyed the warm evening and lovely sunset in a chair that I thought was going to be a lot less comfortable than it was for my big butt. The food was ready about 20 minutes later and I tucked in. The kiwi chicken salad was extraordinary, at least to my tastes, and don't let the photos fool you there were 6 or 7 big pieces of strongly seasoned chicken in it, not just 3 on top. There was also easily a whole kiwi and maybe even a whole medium avocado in it too. The spinach taste fresh and the minty vinaigrette was refreshing and really tied together a unique salad at a borderline bargain price. The burger combo continued that trend. At 18 dollars it was piled with perfectly roasted little potatoes and a really hearty burger for its size. The beef was juicy, rich, and cooked at a perfect medium by default. The beefy flavor was in harmony with the strong sweetness of the carmalized onion and mozzarella making for sweet savory bites reminiscent of some of my favorite burgers that use fig or bacon jams. The mustardy-mayo sauce was perfect for the little potatoes and the cheese on top was nice, but could totally be omitted in my uninformed opinion.

Paying about $30 for all of this at a bistro in Sherman Oaks felt like great deal and really contributed to the joy of such good food. I don't think I would've been disappointed or upset if it was closer to $40, but it wouldn't have felt as hospitable or special as money gets tighter these days. I will be back again and again as the entire menu is so appealing and offers some uncommon flavors and dishes. I'm confident they will all be executed perfectly and priced more than fairly based on this experience. Go here please!“

“Came here for the first time on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the Salmon Tartine and it was very good but definitely needed a side of a lemon wedge. We ordered the Belgian waffle and unfortunately it came out hard and cold. If they fixed this and made the waffle a little softer and served it warm I would change the review to 5 stars. The coffee was really good. I got the Iced Caramel Latte with whole milk and I enjoyed it. The location is really nice. Very attentive staff. Love the decor. They got inside and outside seating.
