“Food was delish. Only issue was bones in my halibut. Beverage Service & table busing slow at times. Had to ask a couple of times for refills. One refill was poured into the wrong glass so soda and ice tea got mixed up but it was corrected. Avocado tempura appetizer was amazing. Desserts were delicious also crème brûlée and chocolate decadent cake. Hubby filet perfect, pizza large. Will definitely go back.“

“This is one of my favorite cantinas for lunch when working on trees in Portola Valley. Don't miss their veggie tacos and margaritas! ⚡?⚡Friendly service and a wonderfully kind señor cantinero with bright blue eyes and a welcoming smile and generous pour. This place fills up, but there is always a lot of seating and plenty of outdoor tables as well. I believe this place is the central community spot for all of us arborists and contractors after a long day of work. Quick and delicious. Great service to your table and plenty of refills on chips and salsa. Don't miss their flan either . ??? You guys make my day. Thank you!!?

“Wandered in after getting disgusted by the parking situation at another nearby restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised by the attentive service, taste and quality of the food, and the availability of gluten free options. Crab cakes were really good.“

“My husband and I had a wonderful meal. Octopus and salmon cakes followed by a lamb burger and sea bass. Everything was great. To top it off, we asked if they could help us with a special reveal in our dessert and they were happy to accept. We'll absolutely be back again.“

“It is rare that I would give a 5-star review to a restaurant that scores 4 on the food. However, I'm giving VK an exception. Yes, restaurants are about the food, but also the overall experience and the value.

VK has recently emerged in San Mateo and we visited for breakfast. This is not your high-end fancy breakfast place. This is a down-to-earth every day local eatery type of vibe. Of course not commercial as IHOP or Denny's and definitely a step above. It also isn't an Instagram shot type of a place. It truly exists to serve hearty food. And that's what it does.

The atmosphere again is a standard eatery. Sort of a diner, sort of a vanilla look & feel. I had the Steak Omelet and instant I could feel that this wasn't your commercial grade quality. The chef had used great ingredients and cooked it with care. Seasoned well, it was tasty. The side veggies also were done right. The pancakes were not top grade but could absolutely stand its own. The only reason why I retracted a star away was because it just missed border of being "special". Great food. Great taste. Just a bit too vanilla. Oh, and one of my pancakes still had a bit of runny batter in the middle, but that's okay.

Service was great. Coffee was bold and good, considering they brew these in pots.

All of the above, at a price point that is surprisingly equal or just slightly above IHOP.

VK's is absolutely a solid addition to the neighborhood. It isn't a place you come for. It is a place you go because you can rely on it. It is a working class, every day type of spot. And they are not shy about it. Will absolutely return.

“Didn't want to eat the tried and tested Zareen's so I ended up here instead. Now this is good Street food! Authentic flavors, good spice level and warm service. The food prep time is definitely on the higher end, so definitely don't come here starved. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, but it was well worth it. Large portions and flavorful food.

“This is the best sushi restaurant in Palo Alto! We have been to a few of them on California Avenue, and the quality of the food and its affordability at Kanji is certainly the best among them all. We ordered the 15 pieces sashimi platter and the cut of the fish was so thick and satisfying. The sweet shrimps were also very worth it, it was so fresh and they even fry the heads for you. Will come back next time to try their breakfast!“

“Had a wonderful Valentines day meal here. There is only the option to order from the course menu on Valentines. I had the mussels to start, sea bass as my main, and apple strudel for dessert. Everything was delicious and very filling.
There was a violin player at the dinner who played beautiful music.
Highly recommend for special occasions.

“This place is amazing! The food was fantastic, reminding me of authentic desi food!! It took them a little bit to bring our naan,but at the end even though it was super busy. One of the guys came apologizing for the delay and also brought us 5 masala chai and lassi on house, If I wasn’t visiting San Francisco, I would 100% come back!“

“Food: only ordered vegetarian food and everything was amazing. Falafel was probably the softest I have ever had so far and the mezze sampler was also quite good. I'll recommend starting off with sampler and ordering anything you like as a separate dip. Street fries were also good. They have unlimited tea and the mint lemonade was super refreshing.

Service: this place has minimal interaction with servers as every table has a QR code to order food and pay when you order.

Atmosphere: divided into 3 parts outdoor, indoor and patio. Indoors is bright with open kitchen and patio is dark with plants, string lights and heaters. Sat in patio and loved the vibe.“

“Bistro Vida is the friendliest place with excellent service and delicious menu choices. We had a great table outside on a beautiful day for our family brunch on Easter. The salmon fume tartine was exquisite and we would highly recommended it. The lamb was also exceptionally delicious and tasty. We enjoyed the charcuteries platter and nice mimosas and cafe lattes. If you're ever dining at Bistro Vida and they have the Carrot Ginger soup on their menu, don't hesitate as it is the very best surprise!
