“We were on a vacation in Oceanside and found Aunty Devi’s booth at the farmers market. We chose a scotch egg, sausage roll and curry chicken pie. This was our first time trying any of these items and we are kicking ourselves for not buying more!! They were fantastic. The quality of the meat is outstanding and the dough was crisp and delicious. Today’s experience was extra special because my kids got to meet the baker Kaden who came out to greet us and chat briefly about our favorite carrot cake. He made a birthday extra special without even knowing it’s for a birthday! We definitely come to NBC for the sweet tooth but the icing on the cake is the sweet employees like Kaden and Carmel Valley and Lai at Mission valley. Please do convey my gratitude“

“Trining’s is “in transition” and it shows. The front is a bit disorganized, but well divided into baked goods and ready-made take out products. The menu is hand-written on a wall-mounted white board (see pictures), but is easily understood and clearly legible.

Now, for the food—Very good! Loved the lumpia. The sweet chili sauce had just a hint of heat to it. Perfect!

We also got chicken adobo and pancit. Both were excellent. Since I ordered two combos to go, I was very careful not to tip the containers and tried to avoid contaminating the pancit with adobo sauce. All for naught. I must have leaned on the brakes a bit too heavily because the very fluid adobo sauce obeyed the laws of physics and colored both the pancit and lumpia. With dark, rich, peppery adobo flavoring. But—it was still great! The chicken adobo was tender and tasty, and the pancit was yummy, even though it tasted more like adobo than pancit. The lumpia, as I expected, was to die for. Crisp and crunchy with a hint of heat from the chili sauce. So good!

Well done Trining’s. Get your front together and I’ll be back. Can I bring some friends with me? I’ve got some East coast buddies who think egg rolls are the bomb. Your lumpia can easily blow that theory out of the water…“

“We go there in the morning sometimes for a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel, which is really delicious. They also have a wide selection of homemade donuts which are larger than any donuts you’ll find at the chains. They are more pricey but They are 2 to 3 times the size of regular donuts.

The staff is always friendly, smiling, and ready to help you select your donuts or sandwiches or whatever you want. They do specialty ones for birthdays. I recommend paying them a visit. They’re in the shopping plaza next to Starbucks and the Shell gas station.“
