“The two ladies working in there were so sweet. I had purchased gift cards days before and forgot to get the sleeve. They were so helpful and told me to take the ones I needed. I decided to go ahead and use my 800 points and get a mini sleeve of cookies. I had got the two cookies that my husband requested and the one celebration cookie that I really wanted to try. I was just told they ran out of the mini celebration cookie, so they instead gave me a full-size. I truly appreciate how kind they were because they knew how bad I wanted to try it. I will definitely be coming back to this location. The cookies were delicious and the excellent customer service meant a lot. Little things like this go along ways and those ladies don’t know how good they made me feel. I am currently five months pregnant and so the cravings were real lol. Thank you 😊“

“The Baby Shower cake I ordered was exactly what I requested. The cake sponge was moist. The fresh strawberry filling was not too sweet. The strawberries were ripe and firm. The party guests enjoyed the cake and many attendees asked about the bakery. Dennis was patient about my many questions and concerns. He and his son are friendly, professional and helpful. I'll definitely be returning.“

“Downtown Riversides hidden gem!!! Stopped by this wonderful shop while shopping at the farmers market. I expected a nice cupcake but what I received was an outstandingly wonderful cupcake!! We ordered a lemon cupcake and a red velvet.
The Lemon was wonderfully light and moist and full of sunshine kissed lemon flavor. The red velvet was equally as light and moist with wonderful melt in your mouth chocolate flavor. The frosting was neither to dense nor to light, it's flavor perfectly complimented both cupcakes. Be sure to stop by Cupcakes and Curiosities on your next trip to downtown riverside.“

“Such a charming coffee shop with some of the most amazing pastries I’ve had in a long time. Everything looked beautiful in the display case and tasted even better — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

“I never really liked cinnabon a couple years back. But then when i tried it again, Oh boy! I absolutly loved it! I dont care if i get diabetes from this i am getting more! Whenever i see a cinnabon location my brain just turns into a zombie and I must have cinnabon.

“Been here a couple times recently saw a post on some social media about their banana fritter I went and picked up a dozen donuts for a event for my children and picked up that banana fritter. It was delicious and the kids loved the donuts. Oh yeah I had the bacon maple doughnut also man oh man delicious!“

“I love these conchas glad they went back to the old recipe, been coming here for years (10+), I just hate how they work in a small oven where they sale out before they can make more you can be in line waiting and probably won’t get some because people be getting like 15 of them, they can only bake like 30 at the time, they should invest in a bigger oven also the lady can sometimes be moody, the place can be more presentable looks the same in the last 10 years“

“Would love to give them 5 stars but every time I go in I end up getting bread that feels like it might be a few days old, nothing wrong with it just a bit harder than the bread baked the same day. If they would let customers know what bread is from a previous day it would be awesome, I go to bakeries for freshly baked bread not for day old bread“

“I like ordering the Birria burrito. They bake their bread here. Used to come often as it was close to my old worksite. They have a variety of different Mexican dishes to choose from. Next door is the grocery store & meat market. They do add a fee if you do not pay with cash.“

“I stopped by Mr. Baker in the late afternoon and ordered a caramel iced latte, lemon bar, almond croissant, coffee cake, and a dog cupcake.

Overall, everything tasted good. The caramel iced latte was refreshing, the lemon bar had a great balance of sweetness and citrus, and even my dog enjoyed the cupcake. The bakery has a welcoming atmosphere and an excellent selection of pastries and treats.

One thing that immediately stood out was how clean and inviting the shop is. I really love what they did with the building. The modern renovation gives it a fresh, bright, and welcoming appearance. In an area that has struggled with blight and homelessness, Mr. Baker has created a space that feels cared for and uplifting. It’s clear that a lot of effort was put into improving both the business and the surrounding neighborhood, and I genuinely appreciate that. Thank you, Mr. Baker, for investing in our community and helping make this part of Riverside a little better. For that reason alone, I strongly support you as a local business.

My only criticism is that the coffee cake and almond croissant were a bit hard by the time I visited. For comparison, I personally prefer the almond croissant at Lee’s Sandwiches because theirs tends to be soft and more flavorful.

That said, to be fair, Mr. Baker makes their baked goods in-house, and these items are at their best when they’re freshly made earlier in the day. Based on the quality and flavor, I would definitely return and try them again during the morning hours.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable visit with good coffee, tasty pastries, a clean environment, and a business that is clearly investing in the local community. I look forward to coming back.“
