“Bay Island continues to be a good choice for your Hong Kong Style cafe. With familiar Cantonese dishes, they are still a local favorite as seemingly there is a small resurgence.

Their menu is very complete with noodles, stir fry, clay pots, and some nice traditional entrees. Rice is served plenty without that single bowl service that other restaurants annoying do.

Drinks however are served in plastic disposables, but you can't enforce environmentally friendly practices everywhere.

The service is typical and fast. The value is exceptional along with Cantonese flavors that are not overly seasoned.“

“Really fabulous experience. We were visiting and stumbled upon this place by accident because the smell caught our nose. Service was great, and the chef was excellent and kind. He does a rotating menu based on the seasons so ingredients are seasonal and very fresh. The dishes were refreshing, flavorful, interesting and not too heavy. We ordered the waldorf salad, grilled sourdough (so good), tuna crudo, aguachile, and risotto (amazing). Wanted to try the griddle cake but they were out. Also you must get the strawberry shortcake for dessert if its in season, we ate it so quick and savored every bite. Thank you to the team at Holy Saints, we’ll be back!“

“It was awesome that it was open late, very busy even then. Fun crowd, lively bar, and patrons. My vegetarian burger tasted so good, almost as if it was off the grill. The waitress was attentive and double-checked for food allergies before serving walnut pesto. Afterward, the bartender on duty broke a glass, and the room fell silent; then everyone laughed and cheered on! ?

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian red beet and quinoa burger was the bomb! Great texture and flavor.

“Food is fantastic here, parking is easy, service is good. The only issue is things sell out here, FAST. Past 6pm you better ask if they still have the menu items you want before going in. heck a lot of times they'd be out of rice of all things.“

“It was our first time back to this place since the change of new ownership. We used to come a lot when it was under Cortez ownership. Needless to say, we wanted to go somewhere local without waiting much so we decided to come back and try this place.

It was empty when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. The server was very welcoming, courteous and attentive. It was about 92 outside and inside it was nice and fresh, cool but not ice cold. There was plenty of parking ( they have a small parking lot and plenty of street parking).

We both ordered the chilaquiles, one Red and Green plate. Came with refried beans and potatoes. The portions were relatively decent sized; not too big and not too small.

They gave us homemade chips with some homemade green salsa, fidelio soup which were all good but the salsa in my opinion phenomenal. So the free entries were good.

The chips were homemade and not too hard and not saggy, not full of sodium either. The sauces and salsa are all homemade and delicious. The red and green chilaquiles salsas that this place uses were both handmade and great. The beans were delicious, the potatoes were rather hard though and in a very small portion. We enjoyed the food, definitely coming back to try other things on the menu. THEY DON’T SELL ALCOHOL……..

The prices were relatively reasonably priced. If ur local, and don’t want to go broke or wait for a ridiculous waitlist then I’d definitely recommend coming.“

“Absolutely insane. Chicken was extremely flavorful, juicy, crispy n spicy, all the same time. Asked the guy if 3 fingers would be enuf for me, he said it was small, so I ordered combo #4, 6 fingers. Boy, they r massive and come with a tub of fries, couldn’t finish them all, could only eat abt 5. But it was top notch taste, probably top 2 chicken I ever ate.
And yea, the spicy flavor is spicy enuf; don’t get it if u r lightweight. If u want supreme, u have to sign a waiver. ?“

“Basically “Chipotle” for udon but WAAYY BETTER. With that in mind it’s really cool they make your food in front of you as you pick out items. It was a bit of wait on the weekend, and add ons can get pricey. I loved the cleanliness and overall vibes. Jason was on top of it from helping people and cleaning up. I feel better about ordering when staff like him actually know the menu. GET THE CURRY NIKUTAMA SO YUMMY!!! Even tasted great when i took leftovers home. (Thanks for the recommendation Jason)“

“Absolutely AMAZING! Matthew was our server and was so knowledgeable about not only the menu, but also the history of the company. We also received a visit from Delaney to check in on us and welcome us as first time visitors. I’m leaving here FULL (because I ate everything) and feeling like this is my new “home away from home”. Highly recommend the chicken salad and the tortilla soup. This place is now a regular stop for me and I will try to be patient until they decide to open a location in Phoenix.“

“Family and I have been coming here for ages. Yeah some things are pricy, but most have decent portions. Food a little bit on the greasy side though. I like their braised tofu most. Their porridge is good with big chunks of yam! Parking can be a bit difficult to find at times.“

This was the absolute BEST meal of all time here. Very fresh! Each different entree prepared to perfection! Dish is always dependable, but each of us commented on how good each entree was this time.We felt that the wait staff person truly needed help, but she managed quite well considering that she was all alone. “We were recently passing through Pasadena and boy, did Yelp come through for us when picking a place to eat! Craft by Smoke & Fire in Old Town Pasadena ended up being the perfect choice. It was a beautiful evening and we opted to sit outside. We were lucky enough to have Stephanie as our server…and also lucky to be there during happy hour – you gotta love a 2 for 1 drink special! It was hard to choose between all the craft cocktails, but we ended up ordering Lulu Lemons which were excellent! I play mixologist when entertaining at home, and when I expressed interest in recreating this drink for our friends, Stephanie was kind enough to share the recipe! The menu is full of yummy Texas-style BBQ options made from locally sourced meat, and it was hard to choose. We landed on brisket grilled cheese with a side of mac & cheese (can you have too much cheese?!) and a harvest brisket salad. Both were so delicious. The outside table area was pretty full and although she was covering a lot of tables, Stephanie was knowledgeable when guiding us through the menu, super attentive and personable to boot! We look forward to returning…and to checking out their Anaheim location as well!“
