“Years ago my mom randomly came to this store after a gig in the area, and she was shocked by how good it was.
We happened to be in the area again, and my mom INSISTED on coming here. We ordered number 1 and some cucumbers. Clean, rich flavors. We got mild, and while there’s a kick it isn’t overwhelming. Numbing spice though!
Cucumbers were fresh, salty and rich on the outside and crisp.
Unassuming interior, delicious meal.“

“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!“

“Favorite Sichuan restaurant in California! Definitely the most authentic Sichuan food I’ve ever had in the states (yes I’m from Sichuan so take my word for it lol)
We live in the Bay Area, but whenever we’re visiting LA, we go to this place because of the great taste.
We ordered rabbit, beef and beef. The portions were HUGE. Every dish was flavorful, and it’s amazing that they picked seasonal vegetables to complement the flavor of the meat in each dish. And the spiciness is really close to what I had back at home in Sichuan. The chengdu fried rice(this should be the name if I remember it correctly) is also very good, not oily at all.
The restaurant owner is also very nice and she told us the rabbit meat is fresh from the butcher shop everyday, which sets this restaurant apart from others. (Well, this is the only restaurants in the states that I have ever been to that serves rabbit on the menu, so I really appreciate that)
100% recommend this place.“

“Definitely a hidden gem of a restaurant. I found this place months ago by accident while looking for lunch in the area. I love this place. I dragged a couple of my coworkers there and now it’s become a little routine for us. The food is so worth it. We can’t work the area without eating here for lunch.“

“This review is long overdue. I visited Alhambra several months ago and decided to eat at Xiang La Hui after weighing all of my dining options that evening. I'm glad I did because it was a great experience. Even after all of these months I'm still thinking about the food! Everything was hot, nicely plated, and tasted just right. Flavors were nicely balanced and entrees are sizable. I felt like I got my money's worth. The service was nice too. You feel welcomed as a customer and aren't rushed, which I appreciate.
If you live close to this restaurant, or are planning to visit or pass through Alhambra, then I recommend giving Xiang La Hui a try. I'd eat here more often if I could! I'll certainly go back someday.“

“We came here for lunch on a Sunday and waited for 45 mins before being seated. There were only two women working the front dining room and since service was slow, table turnovers were slow too. So expect a wait but the food was very good.
We like that they have pictures on their menus. We ordered the dan dan noodles, the chong qing noodles (my favorite), the pork chop noodle, youpo noodle, and xiao long bao. All were good and portions were large.
I do like the spicy mala flavors and that's in quite a lot of their dishes. Mild still has a kick to it, fyi.
The parking lot is too small for the restaurants in shopping area as is common in a lot of Asian areas. But there are plenty of free street parking around.“

“Authentic Sichuan flavors, finally. The catering worked out really well for a small gathering, big bold heat but not just spicy for no reason. Mapo tofu had that deep numbing kick, veggies still had some crunch. Friendly, low‑key communication, everything on time, no fuss.“

“This restaurant has all the qualities of an exquisite Szechuan cuisine. The typically fragrance of the famous dishes will inspire you surrounded by the authentic Chengdu ambiance is a highly recommendation.“

“This place serves Sichuan style Chinese cuisine. Highly recommended. They operate more on food to go but has a small space for 14 diners. Paying in cash expedites service by a lot.
I ordered their Kung Pao Chicken and Fish in Black Bean Sauce. It was served fresh and hot, with steamed rice. Kung Pao Chicken was meaty and really has a good balance of flavors and spiciness. The Fish in Black Bean Sauce was soft, flaky, saucy and not too salty to taste.
Food was served at almost in an instant, around 5 mins from ordering. The serving is very generous, good for 2-3 people for 1 order (see photo), depending on your appetite. For the food price ranged around $10+, it is a steal. Customer service is nice and the lady is very quick on her feet.
Plenty of parking outside. No restrooms though. Come here with an empty stomach and bladder.
I would return here next time to try their Hot Pot, Spicy Chicken Nuggets and Mapo Tofu. 🌶🍛“

“The food was amazing. Everything we had was good. They are a great place to visit late at night because of their late hours. The atmosphere was very upbeat and joyful. Service was very fast and on top of everything. 2 for 1 adult sodas were an unexpected plus also. Will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in town.“

“I’m dinning in with a group of friends and we are making a lot of special requests but the host is very patient and is taking very good care of us. We finish all the food and order more to go. The spicy bowl is amazing! And we finished the spicy bowl and order another one to go!!! Loving this place and would come back again!“

“The Sour Cabbage Fish features a distinctive flavor profile, characterized by a delightful acidity and subtle notes of chrysanthemum. However, the accompanying dried tofu was exceptionally tough. Overall, the execution of the dishes was merely average. The Braised Tofu Pot lacked the savory depth typically provided by cured pork or mushrooms. The pairing of brown sugar mochi with ice cream was a brilliant creative concept; however, the mochi itself was poorly prepared—having been deep-fried, it was overly greasy and had become saturated with oil.“

“One of the BEST eating experiences I've ever had.
Not only had I never been here before,
But I had never tried Szechuan food.
I'm not local to this area, but my friends one day were raving about this place. We drove over 40 minutes to go here,
And honestly I didn't expect too much,
Just wanted to hang with the boys,
But once I took my first bite-
Wwwaaaaoooooowww. I was SO surprised at how unique and delicious this flavor was.
We ordered a lamb plate, where they served it with toothpicks, I'm uncertain of the name of the dish,
But my goodness. It was one of the best things I've eaten. I love spice, and this was spice in such a unique way that I had never had before. My lips were numb, not in an uncomfortable way, but in a truly exciting way as far as a food experience is.
We also got other plates,
But to me the clear stand out was the lamb dish with the toothpicks.
If this place was any closer,
I'd be paying rent there, eating there like 3 times a week 😂
The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating, attentive, and helpful.
Our dishes came with this lovely tea, and perfectly steamed rice.
It was such a satisfying experience all around that I had to write this review to support their business.
Now, I don't think I'll be able to eat Szechuan food anywhere else and honestly- I am not upset about that.
If you haven't tried this hidden gem,
It's with the trip out to experience it.
Parking is... Horrible honestly, the restaurant faces a busy street,
But even still,
It's absolutely worth going here.
Bring anyone who's like me and hasn't tried Szechuan before,
And they'll be just as happy with their experience as I was.
Look forward to coming back here in the future.“

“It is a nice restaurant! I have been here once, in the beginning of July 2022. The meals, that I have ordered, were delicious. I have ordered beef meals. One was BBQ, another was fried. The prices for these meals were fair, and not on the expensive side. They carried several generic beers. In addition, they carried Taiwan's Beer. So, I thought to try it out. Of course, alcohol is on the expensive side. Therefore, to dine-in, I would recommend to try their meals, and drink water. Also, this place opens around 5:30 PM, and closes around 2:00 AM. Still, during my visit, since it was Wednesday evening, the place was empty. I was the only customer in this establishment. Nevertheless, I had a good experience, and I would recommend anyone to visit this restaurant.“

“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“

“The front desk experience has been consistently frustrating.
The young lady there appears inattentive and unsure of the process. Even after joining the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, we're left standing without explanation for 5-10 minutes each visit until another staff member takes over and seats us.
The lack of coordination at the entrance gives the impression that no one is actually managing the line properly.
Fortunately, the rest of the staff are warm and professional, and the hot pot options are solid.“

“As a Chinese customer, I was honestly so happy to find such an authentic Sichuan restaurant here in Los Angeles. I didn’t expect the food to taste this real and traditional outside of China, but everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor. The dishes were spicy, fragrant, and very well balanced — even better than many Sichuan restaurants I’ve tried in China.
The ingredients tasted fresh, the cooking was excellent, and every dish made me feel like I was back home. The owner was also very friendly and spoke great English, which made the whole dining experience even more comfortable and welcoming.
If you love authentic Chinese food, especially Sichuan cuisine, I highly recommend this place. It is definitely one of the best Sichuan restaurants I’ve tried in Los Angeles, and I would love to come back again.“

“Authentic spicy food with some unique dishes, especially the hotpot duck. The spicy level is a little beyond my level but still taste good. The downside/limitation is the sodium level was a little too high even I asked for a low salty level, probably they thought the low salty level might impact the overall flavor. Wait time is a little long but pretty similar with my expectation based on the information from social media channels.“

“The guy at the front desk was very nice. I ran out of change and looked for it in many stores but couldn't find it. He even gave me change even if I didn't buy anything. His attitude was also very good. I will definitely try it next time!“

“I will leave a very honest review here. The owners are extremely generous and this is the most authentic Chengdu / Szechuan food I’ve ever had. Do not be fooled by other restaurants fancy decor, some other restaurant tastes are bland and not authentic. If you want great portions, AUTHENTIC tasting Szechuan food, come here ASAP. I highly recommend the 辣子鸡 (spicy crispy chicken) sometimes regarded as the best in SGV. You can also ask the owners for off menu items to surprise your taste buds if you’re down for a flavor adventure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.“
