“I’ve been to El Cantaro in Monterey about 10 times! I’m looking forward to going to the Sacramento version of this restaurant today! That has some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. “I have been eyeballing this place for a very long time. I wasn't exactly sure of where it was located. It's in a good area a little out of the way. The decor is a bit dated & the videos online on the website from customers didn't make me rush over. However, I waa pleasantly surprised today. I ordered a last minute lunch special before they close at 2pm to reopen at 4pm for dinner hours. The guy at the front desk and the lady cook were both very kind, attentive, and hospitable. My food was ready in a quick 10 minutes. Very convenient if I have my car but, usually around this time of day I am parked in a huge parking structure far away from my job so I don't usually drive anywhere during my lunch break at 1pm. I ordered the #10 and a side of spring rolls which are my new favorite. The plant based beef reminds me of the beef bugolgi that I get on occasion from Trader Joe's but, Anna's texture is slightly more chewy. The rice and fresh salad all refreshing and delicious. I am interested in trying more dishes and will load more photos. I want to try the orange vegan chicken dish soon. All in All great first experience. I grabbed menus for my daughter and I next time we want some plant-based food before 7pm Tuesday through Friday. We have another new option on our list.“

“10/12/2021 Recommend? Yes. Let's get straight to the point: BEST VEGAN BUN BO HUE. That's it. I'm Vietnamese and since my vegan journey of more than 2 years I haven't been able to find a satisfactory bun bo hue. My favorite ones ever have always been in Viet Nam at a little stall in the market or the neighborhood house that makes it to sell. Here I ordered bun bo hue and cha gio. Do take my review with a grain of salt because I had been hungry for daysssss, well really just 1 day because I was on a train. Lol. The bun bo hue here comes with a paste and you should definitely add it to your bowl. It has banana blossom as a veggie to add, but in addition to that I would also love some morning glory. The broth was well seasoned and not overly sweet like a lot of over bun bo hue and the mushrooms, tofu, and "meats" have well absorbed the flavor of the broth too. The cha gio (eggrolls, spring rolls) were fine. I didn't hate it, but I didn't think they were extra great either.“

“Wow it's been 20 yrs. Since my dad passed. We no longer have Luis's which I'm sry I grew up with and loved. So we go for some authentic mexican. We had crispy beef tacos, cheese enchiladas. And 3 enchilads beef. Chicken and cheese. It was just awful. Tortillas were store bought and extra charge, sauce and salsa for chips tasted like out of a jar or can. Beans were good.Waiter was surly felt not one smile beneath that mask.(I saw the black girl's comment) We are white if that helps) Service was fast. Ambiance is great but I was just really cravin some good authentic mexican. We won't be back.left most of our food on the plate. $79.00 for 3 of us.“

“This place is truly a hidden gem — a gorgeous little nook that feels incredibly warm, quaint, and inviting the moment you arrive. The atmosphere alone makes you want to slow down and stay awhile.

The food is absolutely delicious across the board. From the wine to the olives, every bite feels thoughtfully curated. The pizza is outstanding, the lasagna is rich and comforting, and everything we tried was full of flavor and made with care. You can genuinely taste the quality and love put into the dishes.

It’s one of those rare spots where both the ambiance and the food are equally memorable. A truly five-star experience from start to finish. We will absolutely be back.

I’d say that the butter chicken flavour could have been incorporated even more, but everything else was pretty good! Asked for a lassi, but they sadly didn’t have any.“

The moment I stepped in, I was greeted with the warm scents of spices like cinnamon, cumin, and saffron that instantly transported me across the world. The décor was colorful and cozy, filled with Moroccan lamps and details that made it feel authentic. I ordered a chicken tagine, and it was absolutely incredible - the chicken was tender and juicy, the sauce was rich and fragrant, and the couscous on the side soaked up every bit of flavor. I enjoy their chia pudding and a matcha latte while I read, but I don't go home without some savory scones and cookies for my partner and I. I LOVE when they have metal music playing, and the dark green walls being my favourite colour- it's like they made this place with me in mind. Note: Not all offerings are vegan, but lots are! Look for the V on the menu and make sure to specify milk choice in your drinks. They also offer some gluten-free items for those interested. :)“

We spent the day visiting museums then had lunch here. The moment we walked in the employees were friendly, helpful and kind.

Food & Service:
You walk up to the window to order then find a seat and they bring you your food.
I was so excited to try the Schnitzel and I wasn't disappointed. I had the Schnitzel with the potatoe salad, sauerkraut & topped with lemon. WOW it was so dam good, squeeze the lemon on & chef's kiss! The potatoe salad was good but different then American style I grow up with but very good, more citrus flavor then tangy. Sauerkraut was ok.
We ordered the pretzel with both kind of cheese, our favorite being the homemade Obstza, so dam yummy way better then the other bier cheese. Then we had the Berliner Dog, also very delicious.
Beer:
We had 2 of the #10. It was very nice to drink. The gentleman taking our order at the window let me taste 2 beers because I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I'm not a beer drinker so this was very helpful.

We spent a total of $53.59

The next time we are in the area we will be back. Also they do fundraisers, the one posted was for SPCA through a dog costume party. SUPER COOL 😎.“

“Passing through Sacramento on an Amtrak layover, we were drawn to the Grange for it’s unusual menu. Farm-to-table with an elegant twist! The options featured a unique combination of flavors and ingredients- persimmon and sweet potato sold me! And each dish was more amazing than the next. As we were traveling, we just ordered appetizers and were completely satisfied with everything. Of course we had to have the sweet potato and persimmons side. Both ingredients sweet, but not in competition with each other, while the miso added the perfect punch. The roasted beer with smoked halibut mousse appetizer was divine. Beets were cooked perfectly, the buttermilk dressing a perfect complement, but the trout roe added the pop. We also ordered the grilled chicory salad, a bitter and tangy partner to the previous plates. But the shrimp carpaccio was out of this world. Fresh, fresh, fresh shrimp, pounded flat and cut into a rectangle, made a base for the pile of excitement on top: pickled persimmon, radish, furikake, crispy rice, and chili crunch. Yes indeed, farm to table over the top.\nThen there was the service. Our server Xandra was efficient, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. Even the bus boy Kameron offered excellent service. The place filled up while we were there, but we may as well have been the only guests - we never needed for anything during our very pleasant visit. Highly recommend this sophisticated yet down-to-earth restaurant in the Citizen Hotel downtown. Wish I lived in Sacramento!“

“I love their pizza they make an amazing pepperoni and bacon pizza and for a large it is between $17-$20 but if you order delivery the price goes up to about $25 without including the delivery fee. So I personally only do the take out since I live right down the street and I have only positive experiences with them :)“
