Authentic Japanese food from the Japanese. Izumi sushi was closed for the day so we tried this restaurant. They get through lines quickly. Everything tasted amazing, maybe I don’t need to go to Japan for food after all. Service is quick.
This has been my favorite Japanese restaurant since it opened almost 10 years ago. I have since moved to Sacramento but every time I’m in San Jose I make sure to stop by. The food is delicious, authentic, and the staff is kind and hard working. You MUST try Sanraku
Fantastic! Most American Japanese restaurants have their own distinct feel even when they’re great, but Sanraku feels like a little slice of Japan in America. Unexpected for its location in Westfield Mall!
Their omakase was a delightful set including an appetizer, a clam miso soup, a delicious seasonal chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), a 7 pcs omakase nigiri, and a maki roll. I’ll definitely be back.

Sanraku, located in a mall in the South Bay, offers some of the best sushi and sashimi in the area. The salmon oyako don with extra ikura is a must-try dish, featuring generous portions. The kitchen dishes, like duck appetizer, chicken karage, and egg steam with mushroom and crab meat, remain real attractions. The spicy beef udon with ground beef is also highly recommended. Recent reviews highlight the good fish and yummy rolls that are not overly sauced, with a variety of fresh fish available.
