“Looking from the outside it looked the typical hole-in-the-wall, but inside it was clean and pleasant. Tables weren't all squished together, which I appreciated. The BBQ may not be what people think of traditionally as BBQ. The BBQ sauce is served separately. We had the meat plates with 2 sides. I ate beef brisket with salad and baked beans, my friend ate the pulled pork with potato salad and French fries. We were both happy with our selections. Portions were nice sized and meal came with a bun for those that want bread or want their meat and BBQ sauce in bread. My beef brisket was tender. My salad greens wasn't fancy, but it was fresh. I would say though I thought the beans and potato salad were a bit on the sweet side, but that's a matter of taste, my friend liked them. I tasted a bit of his potato salad, it tasted like sweet pickle juice had been added. French fries were hot and fresh. We ate in, it only took about 10 minutes or so for the food to be served. The menu is a bit limited, but it's adequate, no chicken available. I'd eat here again, more beef brisket for me please! Sorry, I didn't think to take a picture of the food.“

My son wanted Subway before coming here, but the owner insisted on him trying his food so gave us a taster for my son while my daughter fully enjoyed her amazing steak and rice. You can’t beat the hospitality here, true aloha vibes and great food.“

“We travel throughout California to visit our ʻohana and spend time at the theme parks with our na moʻopuna. Carlsbad is one of those places we return to a few times a year, always fun to explore.
After a long day at Legoland, we were exhausted and hungry. I was craving for some onolicious Hawaiian plate lunch, and if I had to be honest, that can be so risky on the continent. Some places that make Hawaiian food are not always the greatest, although Yelp or other platforms say they are. So, it's really scary, but I am glad we took the chance and ordered through DoorDash because we were also too tired to drive. And OMG, what a surprise.
From the very first bite, it felt like home. The rice was perfect, but the mac salad? HEAVEN...And the BBQ chicken was so soft, tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. You could taste the paʻakai, that unmistakable Hawaiian salt, hitting the palate in the best way.
Mahalo nui loa to Ohana Hawaiian BBQ for bringing authentic meaʻai to the continent. You gave us comfort when we needed it the most.

I came with my son we’d gone to another bbq place but felt ignored and lost even when it was early here we were attended to got to choose more meats at a time than the other place which allowed us to eat as we pleased. “We visited this place last weekend. It was our first time there, and food was great. Luckily I looked at their menu ahead of time. We got there around lunch, server that greeted us upfront asked us what ayce menu we wanted. Sat down already ordered our drinks and was wondering why the lunch special is not available anymore, luckily the table beside us confirmed they do have a lunch special and shared there menu. When I asked the server why we never get offered that, his reason is they are out of the menus. Atmosphere is a 3 cause it was hot. The a/c was down or wasn't working and they only had a small fan and the doors wide open to circulate air in the restaurant. Food made up for it and we'll give them another shot, someday.“

“First time walking into this spot, and let me just say—what an experience! I came in to try the oxtails, and they did not disappoint. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, flavorful, and not overly fatty. Paired with the Jamaican rice, which was soft and fluffy, it was perfection.

The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff shows true hospitality, making you feel right at home. I also tried one of their Jamaican drinks—refreshing and packed with flavor, definitely a must-have! The empanadas with spiced meat had just the right kick to balance everything out.

If I had one small critique, it would be the plantains—I think if they made them fresh to order, it would take them to the next level.

Overall though, this place is a gem in Oceanside. Pricing is fair, portions are generous, and the food quality is phenomenal. For me, it’s a strong 9.2/10 and an easy 5/5 stars. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican food, this is THE spot to check out!“

“This is the place!!! We eat here couple times a week. Love the bbq and katsu chicken, it’s always perfect!! Try the gravy on the katsu, life changer. Garlic shrimp is life, Teri beef and musubi make my family happy. The Mac salad is 10/10 and the staff cares about your experience! So lucky to have this in our neighborhood!!
