“Chang Thai is my favorite hidden gem. Small cozy Thai, Lao and Vietnamese cuisine.
Wife does all the cooking herself. Husband is very friendly and attentive. You will feel as if you’re visiting them at their house in Thailand! I love their Lao papaya salad! The best. You choose your own spice level. Everything is served fresh. Great to dine by yourself or with family and friends as well. Great value. Lots of options. And plenty of parking in their huge parking lot. The bus stops right in front! Believe me once you try my little gem. It will also become yours!!! Enjoy!😊“

“Loved Praaw Thai! We got the Kao Pad Mun Puu, Ribeye Green Curry, and Emily’s Dumplings. The Kao Pad Mun Puu was my favorite, super flavorful and went so well with the soft egg. The ribeye was tender and the green curry was creamy and delicious. Emily’s Dumplings were really good too. I also loved the atmosphere and all the vinyl records on the walls. Such a cute spot, would definitely come back!“

“This is a cozy little Thai spot that completely changed my perspective on Thai food. I was never particularly drawn to Thai cuisine before, but this restaurant gave me a genuinely new appreciation for it :-)

My usual order is the Garden rolls, Spicy basil wings, and Pad thai. The Garden rolls are refreshingly simple, there’s no protein competing for attention, so you can actually taste the vegetables themselves. The dipping sauce is restrained rather than overpowering, which makes the whole dish feel nicely balanced.

The spicy basil wings are probably my favorite. The sauce is flavorful and remarkably well balanced, with just the right combination of savory, sweet, and aromatic basil notes.

The pad thai, with both shrimp and tofu, is substantial enough to make a satisfying meal on its own. My one consistent complaint, however, is the seasoning. It tends to be quite heavy-handed, with more sauce than I personally prefer, and I almost always find it too salty. I think a little less sauce and a more generous amount of vegetables would make the dish significantly better.

Overall, though, this has become one of those places I keep coming back to, which says quite a bit considering I never used to be much of a Thai food person.“

“We just had dinner at Bangkok By The Bay and highly recommend it. The food was super tasty: we got Pad Makuer with tofu, brown rice, and a special that I think was called Choo Chee Salmon. The vegetables were all really tasty and nicely cooked, and the tofu and salmon were really good. The service is great, they were attentive and helpful--even brought a bed for our dog, and some water for her too. The outdoor seating is quiet and pleasant, not right on the street, with the additional nice element of the sound of the fountain nearby.“

My daughter spotted this restaurant and we are absolutely in love. Clean, comfortable eating area inside and outside. Variety on the menu and best Thai food we’ve eaten in a long time. The logistics are a bit tricky; leave 10-15 minutes for parking and expect to navigate some narrow and uneven roads. I would also not rely on the restaurant to respond to calls or texts very quickly. Changing a reservation within 48 hours is allowed by policy but not easy.“

Not fancy, but still I like the decorations and open space (the high ceilings), which is a good combination of casual with some classic Thai touches. The food is fantastic. I had Pumpkin Curry with tofu and vegetables, and it was superb. Service is very friendly and accommodating (I requested some additional pumpkin curry sauce, and they even brought out that with more chunks of pumpkin, no charge). Nice vibe and good, lively energy, but not too loud. It was clear all customers were enjoying the place and the food. This restaurant is underappreciated and therefore punches above its weight as far as quality and table availability. “I definitely enjoyed the Mango Fried rice dish along with the garlic noodles. Had Thai Iced Tea, which is always a treat. I did call this order in for pick up. When I got there I had to wait a minute, because they were busy but it wasn't long. They gave me an extra Thai iced tea on the house, I didn't need it. Yet it shows the type of business I'm eating at. The ambiance is very welcoming. The art work on the walls of the culture is beautiful. “Just wrapped up a fantastic dinner at Sukko Thai and I have to say, every dish hit the mark. We ordered the chicken pad Thai, mango fried rice, and basil eggplant, and honestly, it was tough to pick a favorite.

The pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, with chicken that was tender and not overcooked. The mango fried rice was a standout for me. Sweet chunks of ripe mango paired with perfectly seasoned rice made for a dish I'm already thinking about ordering again. And the basil eggplant? Bold, aromatic, and packed with that fresh Thai basil flavor that you just can't fake.

What really impressed me was how fresh everything tasted. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in their ingredients. No heavy, greasy aftertaste, just clean, vibrant Thai flavors done right.

“Honestly I love the food, the interior, and the menu - the food is delicious, creative, a little upscale feeling and clearly a lot of attention and care is put into it from ingredients to preparation. I love the variety and seasonality, and it’s one of the few places where you can get those delicious little coconut griddle cakes, and things are easy to share and portions are nice. AND your thai coffee/tea is made with CONDENSED SWEETENED OAT MILK!!!! WHAT?! (I cannot do dairy so this is the best news ever)

Interior is super charming and the seating is very comfy and bathroom is clean, cute, service is always friendly and the staff presents well. My huge gripe - believe it or not - is the service is inconsistent. One time I went there when there was barely anyone in the restaurant, and only one person was working and, it took an eternity to get served. And then I went today, the restaurant was full, and there were two or three servers working, and literally we were getting interrupted every five minutes, asking if we’re doing OK, people coming to the table to pour water, telling us the kitchen is about to close, asking again if everything’s OK, too many concerns, etc., like too attentive to the point of not being able to have a conversation - insanely annoying. Also, the restaurant is quite small inside, and yet they blast music SO loud loudly that everyone is shouting to have a conversation, and because the space is small, you can hear your neighbors TOO WELL if they raise their voice even a little bit. REALLY ANNOYING when you’re trying to enjoy a cute lunch.“

“We had such a wonderful experience with Thai Rice Spoon Catering! They had great communication throughout the entire process, were flexible with our options, and gave us helpful recommendations on what to order, which made planning so easy.

They arrived a few minutes early, and the food was warm, fresh, and delicious. Our guests absolutely loved it, and many went back for seconds!

They also provided plates, utensils, and serving spoons, which made setup and cleanup so much easier.

On another note, we were not able to dine on the terrasse since it was a bit chilly and there is only one heater that is broken. Buying more heaters should be made a priority. “FoodieLand created a mango sticky rice problem… and I’m not even mad about it. 😭

After shopping in Hercules, BB and I decided to stop by Taste of Laos because I’ve been craving mango sticky rice ever since FoodieLand. I had seen some really positive Yelp reviews, and after this visit, I can confirm the reviews aren’t wrong.

We started with the Prawn Blankets, which are seasoned prawns wrapped in a crispy wonton-style wrapper and served with jeow som, a sweet and tangy Lao chili dipping sauce. There are five to an order, and they were absolutely delicious.

Of course, the main reason I came was for the Mango Sticky Rice. I asked for extra coconut sauce (because we’re not doing things halfway around here 😭), and it came with fresh mango slices, pandan sticky rice, sweet coconut milk, and sesame seeds. Everything was perfectly balanced, sweet, and incredibly satisfying.

The service was exceptional. The ladies working in the dining room were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

I told them I’d be back often because of my newfound mango sticky rice obsession, and I wasn’t kidding. In fact… I may have ordered another one to go. No judgment, please.

Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back.“

My family and I have Thai food at least 2-3 times a week, so we have tried many (and I mean MANY) Thai restaurants over the decades, and without a doubt we all agree that Bua Luang offers the freshest, tastiest, and most delicately prepared Thai cuisine of all. Every dish is packed with the freshest ingredients. The flavors and textures are amazing. Restaurants in Thailand don’t make a Pad Thai as delicious as the Pad Thai at Bua Luang—believe us, we have tried Pad Thai all over Thailand and we still longed for the Pad Thai at Bua Luang. The chef at this restaurant is a culinary master!

Not only are the dishes at this restaurant superb, the atmosphere is serene and delightful. The indoor space is clean, cozy, and modern with soft old-world touches and whimsical lighting. The ambiance music is very pleasant. It’s not too loud, and it’s easy to talk with and hear others in your party. If you choose to dine outside, you are greeted by the most beautiful outdoor seating area on all of Solano Avenue. The space is gorgeous and inviting. And then there is the staff: always friendly and attentive. They provide a truly exceptional dining experience all around.

I pulled up their website while standing outside, and looked at the "Chef's Suggestions" list. I thought the Grilled Short Rib with Garlic Noodle dish sounded good, so I went for it. Everyone inside was extremely friendly to me and polite while I placed my order and waited for a short while. I like my food spicy, but I forgot to say anything about wanting extra heat while ordering. The gentleman at the register said he could include hot sauces for me, and I thanked him. I got my food to go as I planned to walk back to the hotel to eat, but when I opened it 5 minutes later in my room I was not disappointed. The meal was beautifully put together, and it was delicious. I squeezed the orange over the marinated beef, and I added the extra hot sauces: fantastic! I highly recommend trying Tha Siam if you are in the area.“
