“Randomly stopped in on my way home from work, the guy behind the bar was super nice. I ordered an Italian sausage smash burger, if was great. Also ordered some fries which were crispy and fresh. No complaints, I don't drink but the bar seemed to be full of regulars. I'll definitely be back!“

Staff always attentive and in particular a member of staff who came to my son who had made his confirmation, had a chat with him, went away and came back with a selection of desserts for him to take home. When we chose the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens as our wedding venue, we were a bit disappointed to discover that our catering options were limited to only a handful. Little did we know that this was the biggest blessing and we had stumbled upon some of the greatest food we’d ever had. Early in our wedding planning process, Tony of Blue Heron set us up with a tasting at their store. Being a family that is afflicted by Celiac Disease, we were keen on finding a caterer that catered to our needs. The menu that was presented at our tasting was impeccable. The entree options were stuffed chicken, tritip, and eggplant puttanesca. It was near to impossible for us to even decide which item was best. The starter courses were fantastic, the wine pairings incredible, the cocktail appetizers just immaculate. On the actual wedding day, Blue Heron’s staff were fantastic. All of the food was highly praised by attendees and the service was well provided. Although we were wildly distracted by the whole getting married aspect of the day, the food stood out and left a lasting imprint that we will be discussing for the rest of our happy days.“

“Been a customer of this store since the opening many years ago. Visit it at least once a month, sometimes more often. The only place we order food for New Year's celebration, became a family tradition. Was sad to see original owners sold this store but happy to report that new owner not only continues delivering phenomenal food items but invested to make store larger, more open, more attractive. Always, always recommend it to friends, our go to place that never disappoints.“

“We hired Duanes Catering last weekend to cater a 40th birthday party, and honestly, they completely blew us away. Planning a milestone birthday can be stressful, but the moment they set up, we knew we were in great hands. We ended up going with their Korean BBQ package, and it was a massive hit.The food was incredible. The meats were so tender and perfectly marinated, and all the sides and sauces tasted fresh and authentic. “This is a place not a restaurant it's a manufacturing facility. All people that work there are nice. Alicia runs the place. They make a very good product. Simply they very good Tamales in whichever flavors they have made that day.
So if your Grandmother came from Oxaca she would make Tamales like these.“

First off the food is top notch it’s so delicious and creative. There has not been a meal that has not been amazing. Mary herself is an amazing top notch person who goes the extra mile to alter the menu to your needs. She offers so many options to help cater to her customers. I wish her and her business the absolute best. “Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

We shared a flight and each had a glass of bubbly. Portion size good … I had leftovers for breakfast. Server Jeff casual but on the ball with advice. Menu somewhat limited, especially for vegans.“

“This place was the single redeeming thing in the area. I got stuck in this commercial cesspool for four and a half hours and wandered around for 3 of them trying to find decent food worth the price or some store that wasn't marked up for garbage. No dice. Finally found this place tucked away, so thankful. Had a couple drinks and chatted with old locals. Definitely support this place. In general I'll be avoiding the area but if I ever find myself there again I'll definitely go in for a drink and to get a brake from the depressing retail area outside.“
