“We have now been here several times. This the perfect 1/2 way point between picking my son and going home. It is across from the Coast Guard Island. The location is safe. Plenty of parking. We come for the FILIPINO STYLE barbecue and friendly service. Everything is great! Especially when the mother-in-law makes a surprise visit and cooks up her specialty pansit (not on the menu). Everything is fresh and cooked (and barbecued) with love. I think we’ve tried everything now. My favorite is toss between the FILIPINO STYLE barbecue Banh Mi sandwich and “THANK QUE” chicken bowl. There are a few tables inside and when the weather is nice, plenty of seating outside. “The Beli Deli took care of our catering for our Russian/ Jewish wedding. From the moment we went for a tasting in their commercial kitchen we were hooked on the quality and freshness of these foods. Luckily, my Russian speaking MIL was able to coordinate a lot of the details with this vendor. It would have been difficult to manage with the language barrier otherwise. We were delighted with the final result and the caterer was all inclusive which kept our cost low during historical inflation. They brought and setup all of our tables, flatware, table settings and food. It turned out really beautiful and we're so grateful that they took great care of all our wedding guests. “I'm from the East Coast (NY) and recently my Brother in-law and I visited a few cities in the state of California. First, we spent a few days visiting family in Los Angeles and Santa Ana. At the last minute of booking the trip, my Brother in-law decided he wanted to visit an old college buddy named Roderick (Roddy) in Oakland.He mentioned that Roddy had a BBQ restaurant named Roderick's BBQ. So the plan was to fly down from Santa Ana to San Francisco, make the drive to Oakland and spend our final evening in California hanging out with Roddy at his restaurant. I didn't know what to expect because I had never met him. Well, he rolled out the red carpet along with some of the finest food (not just BBQ) you will ever have in your life.You name it, we had it, and it all tasted incredible. Ribs, Tri-Tip, BBQ Chicken, Hot Links, Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish, French Fries, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad. The Ribs were tender and perfectly cooked, as was the BBQ Chicken. The Tri-Tip was tender and just melted in your mouth. The Hot Links had the perfect amount of flavor and heat. The fried chicken and catfish was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tasted great. The french fries had a light dusting of their in-house seasoning that was absolutely amazing.The Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese was incredible as well and to wash it all down was some of the most amazing Kool-Aid ever. The type of Kool-Aid that takes you back to your childhood. You better believe the next time I'm on the West Coast, I'm getting me some Roderick's BBQ. This place is a hidden gem and if you live in the Oakland area, you should run (not walk) to Roderick's BBQ immediately and try some of this amazing food. If you live 1-2 hours away, it's definitely worth the drive. Pull up a chair, enjoy the food, and tell Roddy that Chris and Sean sent you and he'll take good care of you. We got married at the Brazil Room, where Jasmine Catering is a preferred catering vendor for the venue. We did a taste testing with Oded about a year prior to the wedding. He made the tasting experience super personable and comfortable for my husband and I.As we planned the wedding, we had many questions about the day of and he was super fast and responsive up until the very end. He helped us choose the right menu for our guests. He helped us with table and chair set up.On the day of— his team was amazing! They were fast and efficient in setting everything up. They don’t have much time to set up and I was nervous hoping it would all be set up in time. But his team did it and they were very professional and helpful to our coordinator and her team.During the wedding, the staff was awesome. They were attentive, quick, and respectful to our guests. They made sure champagne and wine glasses were full all night. They made sure to use our bar decor and kept our guests happy with the bar all night. The food was amazing! Our guests are still talking about the amazing food especially the salad. lol!! I think about that balsamic dressing all the time. “Wow, what a wonderful night! We had a party for my husband's birthday last night at the Oakland location of Kitchen on Fire, and it was perfection from start to finish. The booking was easy and the communication between booking and the event was perfect. I went early to take some wine and decorations and they were there 2 hours before to meet and greet me.Once the party started, we were given some cheese and cold cuts to take the edge off the hunger while we were prepping. Chef Anthony was superb. He was flexible to how we conducted the event, letting us do as much as possible on our own, while imparting his extensive experience to make us better cooks! We came away with many little tips and tricks to make cooking at home easier, safer and more fun.We chose to make 4 small plates which were Asian themed. We make Thai larb, Fresh Spring Rolls, Fried rice with Shrimp, and Chicken pot stickers. All the ingredients were set out on the work tables and we broke into groups to do the final chopping and prep with Chef hopping from group to group to make sure we didn't goof anything up. Finally time to go to the "fire" to make perfect browned but tender pot stickers, spicy and flavorful larb, and tasty fresh fried rice. We ate the dishes as we cooked and it was plenty of food to satisfy us all.We brought our own beer/wine, but quickly realized we needed all our senses to do the "work" and not cut off any fingers! I cannot say enough about what an enjoyable and fun evening this was for all the guests and my husband on his special birthday. I highly recommend this venue for your next event or party - you will have a great time while learning some new cooking skills!“
