“A long overdue review! The BEST cake in OC! After living in Taipei I miss having dessert that isn't overly sweet and that has a variety of interesting flavors. I'm so glad I found Bakery 101! Their black Forest cake was divine, but my new favorite is the taro cake!! So light, and it tastes so fresh and real! Not synthetic like the flavors next door at Crumble!!! Bakery 101 even has lilikoi flavor and tres leches!
What I also love is that for gifts, instead of one giant birthday cake I can order an assortment of small cakes of many flavors to give to my friends.
The owner is so kind and you can tell she puts her heart into what she makes 🤍🍰“

“I visited from San Diego with my mom and we tried several bakeries during our trip. The Moses bread was our favorite. It seems to be a small family-run business that bakes bread based on online orders. Their sourdough is definitely fresh and beautifully made with care and passion. I highly recommend trying their bread—just be sure to reserve online before walking in! I am definitely coming back when I visit OC again“

“They were very responsive to emails. I first filled out web inquiry and got a reply on the same day. They were booked for tasting appointment very fast so make sure you contact them early as they only have appointments available during the week Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays between 1pm and 6pm. Saturdays from 9am-4pm. The tasting appointment was an hour long and it's FREE!!! Some other places I looked at will charge you for tasting and even though the tasting charge might be deducted from final order, it made me feel much better when there was no cost to start with as wedding was already expensive. The place was a little bit hard to find since it was office-like looking from outside and I thought it was bakery-like. They have parking lot. My husband and I tried so many different favors of cake and they were so delicious. We had a hard time deciding which ones to get because we had more than three favorite. During the appointment, they also showed you what style of cake they offered and its pricing. We went with the basic so there was no add-on cost, but they can custom-make your order if you show them pictures of what you want with additional cost (and trust me the price is fair). We ended up ordering a 3-tier ice in white buttercream cake with 12" white with mango, 9" almond with cappuccino & chocolate mousse, and 6" mocha chip with rosy mauve ribbon around tiers for 100 guests for my wedding. They emailed us a week before the wedding to confirm there was no changes and the order was correct. The cake was delivered on time and was decorated with fresh flowers my florist provided on site by the delivery staff. (If you have cake topper, you can either drop it off to the shop or have it installed on site by delivery staff. Either way, you need to let them know in advance so they can make sure your cake is structurally stable for the cake topper weight.) My wedding cake looked pretty and it tasted good. I received lots of compliment from the guests. On the side note, they would charge you more if you use American Express credit card. And you only need to pay deposit on the site but they don't have online system for you to pay the remaining online. Since we didn't have cake topper to drop off and did not want to make another trip just to pay the balance, we paid it in full the same day of tasting. This would be two suggestions for improvement, but they still deserve a 5-star for their service, the quality (taste/look), and the friendly price. Ohh and did I mention that you do receive a complimentary one year anniversary cake? That's for sure a big PLUS since my husband and I were too busy to have our own wedding cake at our wedding. We are very looking forward to our one year anniversary! All you need to do is to contact them 3 weeks prior to your one year anniversary to place the order. Give them the date of your wedding and the name the order is under and they will pull up your file and place the order. Yup it's 3 weeks, not 2 weeks. They are definitely getting busier and that's how good they are! If you are still looking for wedding cake or cake for any event, this is where I would recommend.“

“We’re so grateful to NPC Cakes for the amazing service and thoughtfulness we received for our 40th anniversary! We were originally planning to celebrate with our out-of-town daughters in person, but had to cancel at the last minute. Wanting to make the day special, our daughters decided to send us a cheesecake—and found that NPC was the only bakery nearby willing to deliver on just a few hours’ notice.
Our daughters joined us over a video call, and we had so much fun cutting the cake and taking selfie screenshots and videos of the family with it!
What truly made the celebration unforgettable was the extra effort Eric put in—he even agreed to pick up beautiful flowers and a “Happy 40th Anniversary” cake topper. That personal touch meant the world to us!
The Caramel Pecan Cheesecake was absolutely perfect—you could taste the care and quality in every bite.
It’s rare to find a business that puts so much heart into what they do. Thank you for helping make our celebration so special—we’ll never forget it! The icing on the cake for our anniversary celebration was the cake itself!“

“We stopped by after dinner around 8pm on a Friday and found a nice crowd already gathered! Churros are made fresh in their food truck, and you place your order at the stand next to it.
They usually accept cards, but their Square reader was down during our visit, so we made a quick run to the CVS across the street for cash. The prices are incredibly affordable, and for a group of four, we ordered 10 churros, 2 dipping sauces, and a buñuelo.
Everything came out warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I wish I had taken a photo of the churros, but we devoured it all before I even thought to reach for my phone—definitely check out other reviewers' pics!“

“El Metate Panadería is a charming local bakery with a welcoming vibe and friendly staff. While most of the staff speak little English, they’re kind, patient, and eager to help with a smile. The display is full of delicious Mexican pastries, all freshly made and smelling amazing. From conchas to empanadas, everything looks and tastes homemade. The quality of the baked goods is impressive, especially for the low prices. It’s a great spot to grab a quick treat or a box to share. The place has a no-frills, authentic feel that adds to its charm. Don’t expect fancy service, but expect to leave satisfied. It’s a hidden gem for anyone who loves traditional pan dulce. Highly recommended for a casual and tasty bakery stop.“

“This place has been here for a million years! I moved and away and hadn't been in the neighborhood for about 30 years... it was a pleasant surprise to see it alive and well. It is owner operated, and they're a major reason why this place is so popular... we all grew up seeing them... they've always been really nice.“

“Their ham cheese egg is really good. My son tried and says it's 👍 Gave them a $15 tip. Like many Cambodians owned donut shops, they work hard for their donuts with egg prices flours and the inflation going up, support small businesses.“
“Stumbled upon this bakery last week because I was looking for wedding cookies! They didn't have wedding cookies but they had the most SOFTEST pan dulce I've ever eaten before. I also tried their dense pineapple cake which was so moist and delicious; I absolutely had to save this place to my favorite on my maps. They're also open late which I really appreciate!!! The 2 young women I met each time I've been here are warm and welcoming. Prices are fair and I hope they keep it that way too since times are tough lately. I bought 3 pan dulce and 1 piece of cake for $4.25. Definitely a treat! 5 out of 5 would recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“On Saturday 04/23/22 I bought a small cake, the person who attend me was name jazmin. She mention told me that the cake was tres leches, but when we cut the cake it’s flavor was chocolate. I didn’t think much and decided to keep it. But today 04/26/22 I bought another cake, again jazmin told me that the cake was chocolate bread flavor with mocha. When I cut the cake it’s flavor was vanilla cake with mocha. This time I did call the bakery and explain what happen, they told me to go back and they would give a chocolate cake. Upon my arrival to the bakery, jazmin was rude and didn’t want to give me a cake but instead give me the refund for the cake. On both occasions, she was rude and seemed like she was on a hurry. Would answer questions in regards the cakes with attitude and rudeness. I have been a faithful costumer for years to this bakery, and love the pastries and cakes. But this new person, needs to get better training or be replace.“

“Man pan dulce has gotten expensive! But then again, what hasn't? The pan dulce is pricey, but at least you get large sized bread that is pretty good! $4 for a cheesecake bread is on the high side, but the flavor makes up for it. As a matter of fact, I'll see you later. Going on a pan dulce run!“

“The pastries and desserts are good. It's just more the neighbor that I like better. The neighboring business has been around longer and this is a great addition.
Parking: The parking for the small business is a little strange, it turns at the end and there's only a few spaces, then you're left to what's the larger parking lot that surrounds it.“

“Rosa's is an authentic artisan bakery. The bread, cookies and traditional baked goods are an art that's not being passed down. Rosa's is a true gem in the city I found just by chance and am so thankful I did. Everything is fresh and they also sell oatmeal and cofee. I can buy a gallon of milk or gelatin or a whole flan on my way to work or home. Not sure why people complain about the prices when they are competitive, prices are up everywhere. I pay $10 for a loaf at the Jewish bakery and a baguette at the Vietnamese bakery is $5...the bread at the market might be five-ten cents cheaper but they have no substance-density. Take care of jems like this they are disappearing...children of the owners dont wanna be bakers or chefs...be nice and enjoy this place it has so much to offer...“
“Come and try the bread that my father (left), Don Venancio Bautista, made! These are his recipes! He made the best conchas, bolillos and everything else. His connection to Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mex, a city known for its breads, was strong! If you ever bought bread at Galvez Bakery, El Nopal Bakery (Central and Halladay, 1970s-1980s), or even at La Flor De Mexico in Oxnard (1960s), then you know the history of this delicious bread!“

“The best bread probably in orange county maybe even so cal. Delicious. Man could definitely live on bread alone from here. They make many types, each with passion and care to make them the finest. Besides being available in the finest restaurants arround you can also get it at some farmers markets and a few specialty shops.“
