“MONDAY FOOD REVIEW...PUESTO...6/17/24! After leaving California's Great America, we stopped for lunch at Puesto, a Mexican/American restaurant, located at 2752 Augustine Dr., in Santa Clara. This restaurant features Mexican dishes with an American flare infusion! I had their their Shrimp a la Plancha, which is Mexican shrimp, garlic butter, red onions, jalapeños, guajillo chile, avocado, and Tamarindo-chile sauce, and it comes with herb lime rice, black beans, and blue corn tortillas. This was absolutely fabulous!!! It wasn't your typical Mexican dish...the different ingredients they used to create this dish all blended together VERY well!!! If you are looking for a little something different to satisfy your Mexican food craving, and want some added flair, then this is THE restaurant to go to!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!!! “They are wonderful people with a genuine care for serving food lovingly, they have a good amount of vegetarian options. Loved the housemade udon noodles and the litchi beer they serve. Best best people ever we stayed over 45 mins past their closing time and they had zero complaints, I absolutely love this place“

Good selection of vegan options (and not just sorbets!), which is noted on the menu itself. Gluten free options are not noted on the menu board, but easily accessible online, where full ingredient lists are also provided. Great for those with allergies or intolerances.“

The restaurant is having waiting times more than 30m, we have to keep in mind before going to the restaurant. Otherwise, overall experience is good.“

“My favorite poke spot when it comes to sauces but for the cost I do feel like the have been stingy with the amount of mixed greens and rice they give out now since there prices have gone up. I also feel that some of the fish looks old which can be off-putting when you're choosing. I've been to other poke places and there fish looks fresh idk if this is a temperature problem at poke poke but thank goodness I have not gotten sick so hopefully management takes that into consideration that for $20 there fish should look fresh at all times during the day.“

“This is a reallly wholesome, family-run Indian vegetarian restaurant. For $18, they have a very tasty all you can eat buffet. They bring to your table some fresh made chapati too. There is a delicious lemon pudding for dessert and also always fresh fruit. If you want some good home cooking, this is the place.“

“The ice cream taco was good but namely for the novelty. As ice cream, it's texture pales in comparison to the titans of Bay Area ice cream. Great for snacking if you're in the area but don't make a pilgrimage for it. The service is prompt but you'll have trouble finding parking in the area. Great for a little date, it's clean but there's not a lot of seating. It's fairly sweet as well, so I would just share my taco.“

The restaurant is small, but it’s clean and the staff were friendly. It was slow and quiet when we came and our food came out pretty quick I would say. We all ordered different things and in general we enjoyed the food. I had gotten a country skillet that was potatoes, eggs, and country gravy. It was super filling! Other people in the group got French toast and a breakfast sandwich and they liked their choices. My coffee was ok, not very strong, and the hot chocolate also lacked flavor. If I was in the area I would come back and try some other things.“

I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and was pleasantly surprised — the quality was definitely a notch above fast food chains like McDonald’s. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and clearly made with better ingredients.

That said, it’s also more expensive — mine came out to around $20, which feels a bit steep for just a sandwich. But to be fair, you’re also paying for the ambiance, not just the food. The restaurant has a really nice, modern vibe that makes it feel more like a trendy, casual date spot rather than a grab-and-go place.

Unfortunately, I got my order to-go, so I didn’t really get to enjoy the dine-in experience — probably not the best decision. Next time I’ll definitely eat in and soak up the atmosphere.
