“We stopped off to taste the legendary pie. You can get a slice or the whole pie. I chose unsweetened and it was very tasty. Great pie crust. Apple sweetened with apple cider. No sugar needed.Coffee wasn’t hot enough and the only let down.Lots of parking. And the gifts were good too.“
“ICONIC! Kind of ugly, even, a bit tacky, but unbeatable breads and desserts. What would the Santa Ysabel Valley be without this place? Rumor has it that when there was a fire in the backcountry the firemen came here first to make sure that this sacred establishment didn't burn. I have been eating here for more than fifty (yes fifty) years. The recipes have changed little. Make sure and try the ginger fruit bars and macaroons (to die for) And I do like all the cattle brands on the wall. This feels like Texas in East County San Diego. Don't miss this place !“
“If your reading this review you are not a long time San Diego resident or you are in a social circle that doesn't ever leave the city. Julian pies is not really about the pies at all. It is one of those great multigenerational hipster field trip food institutions like Katz's Deli in New York. The idea is that you go for a drive with your lover or family on a lazy Saturday or Sunday in the mountains. The scenery is great, but if you're not into hiking there isn't much to do when your there, and if you do hike you will be hungry, so either way you grab a piece of pie. Apple pie is the thing because Julian has been an apple growing area and that means you are tasting "local flavor". The pies are yummy and very overpriced but that is because you are really buying "a real San Diego experience".“
“The hard truth is, all of our pie places make great pie, we know bc we are locals. But the Mom's in Wynola is their actual bakery, and the crowds can be a lot more manageable here than "up" in Julian. Anyway, we stopped in with some friends recently when it was very busy and they were all pro and very nice to everyone. Are pie there again today. Wicked pie.“
“I'd have to say being one of the very few bakeries in the Julian area that make cakes, it was really good! I ordered the dulce de leche vanilla cake and the cake was super rich and the butter cream on the cake was delicious. Thanks for such a great cake!“
“Delicious pie! Worth to stop and try it. The service was great and fast. For some reason tap water in Julian tastes weird to me but here they have a filtered water station where you can grab water for free and refill your bottles. Try the strawberry rhubarb strawberry pie! Such vibrant flavors, great balance from the sweetness of the strawberries and the tartness of the rhubarb. Loved this place.Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance has a ramp.“
“Absolutely delicious and very well portioned meals. I ordered the Julian Apple Burger, sounds odd because it has apple in the meat, but it was soooo delicious. Highly recommend.Had the Hot cider, perfect for that cold weatherKid-friendliness: My child ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, said it was "really good"“
“We went to Julia in search of Apple Pie. This place was highly recommended by a local whose favorite was Carmel Pecan Apple pie. She also told us about the homemade cinnamon ice cream that they make. As much as I wanted to try the Carmel Pecan, I thought it might be too sweet with the ice cream. I went with Apple Crumble. It was a perfect pairing. My boyfriend had the traditional crust, also with ice cream.“
“Staff very nice and busy. Total wait time about 20 mins.I got a chicken poblano pie. Wished there was more poblano's or more of a spicy taste. I also got a bear claw and brownie for my husb and I ended up eating half the brownie because it was so good! Will definitely go again and try something else.“
