“Been coming here forever, they’re the best! Head chef Shige is the master 🙏
There isn’t a roll on the menu that goes light on the fish or fillings. Family owned, super cool people. Best prices I’ve seen for sushi anywhere around here.“

“Oishii!
Ordered the 3 item comination plate for dinner on a Tuesday night. This was our second visit to this restaurant. It was not too busy, and we were promptly seated and given menus to look at. I oreded the teriyaki chicken, combo tempura, and inari plate.
The inari with a little wasabi was very good. The combo tempura consisted of shrimp, mushroom, green beans, onion rings, carrot, and zucchini. The tempura was very good, especially with the provided dipping sauce. The teriyaki chicken was alright. Nothing special with light and dark meat. The salad and dressing were very good as well as the rice. Service was good as we were asked how everything was or if we required anything else several times. I put Harumi as one of the top of my list for Japanese food on the penninsula and look forward to another visit.“

“Very happy to have Maido Sushi here in Marina. Staff is friendly, food is tasty, and it feels like an actual cafe you would find in Kyoto or some parts of Tokyo having visited. Thank you :3!“

“A pleasant dining surprise... It's a no-frills plaza restaurant with very tasty sushi at a great price. Lots of roll, sashimi, and nigiri options to choose from plus other Japanese bento/meal options. The hosts/owners are very friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back.“

“We had a great experience here. Our server was very welcoming and kind, and she was especially attentive and patient with my 3-year old daughter. She even brought her some paper cranes, which made my daughter so happy.
The food was delicious as well. I loved the veggie udon, and the sashimi slices were generous. The sushi rolls were great too, with a good amount of fish in each one. Overall, we had a wonderful experience the atmosphere was nice, and the inside was clean and welcoming.“

“We dined here recently and had a very different experience.
Pricing felt consistent with Monterey sushi restaurants (around $3.50 per nigiri), and our food was fresh and well-prepared. As with any restaurant, experiences can vary, but we enjoyed our meal“

“Akaoni is one of my favorite restaurants and serves the best sushi that I've had in California. We personally make trips to Carmel-by-the-sea just to eat here, so if you are a sushi aficionado, I genuinely think you should try squeezing in a visit. One time, I ate here prior to a big interview, and my stress just melted away.
Yes, you need a reservation to eat here because they have a limited amount of space and work to make the atmosphere peaceful and calming. I think that some folks misinterpret their directness as rudeness, but I personally feel that they are polite and provide excellent service. Our experiences here have been positive and memorable.“

“The service was 10 stars. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. The owner was so kind and even ended our night with a complimentary ice cream dessert and said if we’re truly full we will not touch it! ;) We laughed a lot and enjoyed our dinner.“

“This is a cute, cozy yet bustling sushi spot, always buzzing with people. Despite the crowd, you’ll get a table quickly thanks to the staff, who are running around efficiently to keep things moving. The indoor space is a bit cramped - but that’s part of the charm. There’s also outdoor seating with a fireplace, which is a nice touch.
We ordered the Creamy Crab, Salmon Skin Maki, Monterey Roll, and Hawaiian. They were served on a boat, and the presentation was impressive. Of the four, the Monterey Roll and Creamy Crab were the standouts - absolutely delicious. The Salmon Skin Maki was a bit too crunchy and chewy because of the skin, and the Hawaiian was just okay. The Maki rolls were quite filling, so we left satisfied.
We’ll definitely be back for more! The staff are doing a commendable job - kudos to everyone for staying on top of things and keeping those happy faces.“

“Excellent, friendly service 11/10. Good fresh rolls that came out fast. Would eat here again if I return to Carmel. Came here with a family of 6 and we sat outside at 5pm, making happy hour without a reservation. They got us in no problem. Great evening! Thanks Sushi Heaven.“

“First time eating here. I have almost stopped eating at fast food chains completely. But my wife was hangry and power ordered online. Not one to talk the semantics of health vs fast food, nor looking forward to couch diving for the night, I said, “fantastic idea, babe,” and then responded, “spicy beef” when she asked what i wanted.
You know the deal, when they’re hangry, you get out of the car, walk in, and get the order to go.
The place was poppin pretty good, but it was dinnertime. She had an orange chicken bowl. My spicy teriyaki beef (w/ all veggies) was actually spicy. I enjoy spicy chicken sandos wherever I can get them(real spicy chicken, not Jack or Chick Fil A) and also the Hot Ones challenge from YOUTUBE fame. I was pleasantly surprised that this had enough heat to make my nose run, not to mention a follow up date with the heat the next day, if you smell what I’m cookin.
It wasn’t cheap, but alas, fast food isn’t cheap anymore. I can say that I’m a 260lb ogre and the serving size did fill me up. Speaking of health, I should’ve probably split it into two meals. What do they say? “Gordo big and gordo home?” I should probably trademark that.
All in all, this was a bit like Panda on steroids. And most importantly, it satisfied the hungry beast raging inside my wife and I was allowed to sleep in our bed for the night.“
“My wife and I will be paying a visit to the Presidio in a few weeks. We have many fond memories there from 1986/1987 when I was a Polish student and she was a Czech student, both of us U.S. Army. We met there and were married in Pacific Grove on our lunch hour. In our minds it's a magical place (and a superb language school) that expanded our horizons. We're returning to the U.S. after many years overseas.“

“Great food! Coming from Texas, I've never had the chance to go to halal Japanese restaurant before, and this place did not disappoint. The yakisoba noodles were delicious, and the beef in both them and the hibachi we ordered was flavorful and not too tough. My favorite item was the American Dream Roll, which is a deep fried eel sushi roll. I thought both the texture and flavor of it was superb, and the Rainbow Roll was good too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good Japanese place, and especially to Muslims that might not have had the chance to have Japanese food outside of sushi before!“
