“I go to this spot a lot. Usually not too busy so you’ll be able to get tables most of the times. The sushi is good with fair prices, and the sashimi is nice as well. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the atmosphere is also pretty chill. (I usually get the 49ers roll and the rainbow roll) ask about allergen but they have gluten free soy sauce so yay! And for the greedy little children, there is also some free lollipops (I’m also greedy so I take some myself lol)“

“I'm a wagyu enthusiast, and while I generally think wagyu is not worth it in hot pot. The ayce and happy hour options make it worth it.
Psa, do NOT order the sushi. I wouldn't order it even if it was free. It does not look like the image, and it tastes like low quality fish“

“Goku Sushi is a real gem!! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was attentive. We ordered a variety of rolls, and each one was a delight. The Mango roll was outstanding. The presentation of the food was also beautiful. We'll definitely be back! By the way, we came to the one on Blossom Hill !!“

“Here’s a polished, natural English review that keeps your tone and emphasis:
Sanraku completely changed my impression that you can’t find good Japanese food in an American shopping mall.
The best surprise was that both the servers and the sushi chefs appeared to be Japanese, which really added to the authentic atmosphere. The interior also felt very much like a restaurant you would find in Japan.
Most importantly, the food was genuinely fresh and tasted authentic. We intentionally avoided ordering the Americanized items on the menu and stuck with more traditional dishes. For us, simply receiving food that tasted exactly as it should—with no unexpected twists or unnecessary “fusion”—was a huge plus.
Every dish that arrived at the table was cleanly presented, fresh, and delicious. Having each dish taste exactly the way it’s supposed to was surprisingly satisfying. It reminded us that authenticity and simplicity can be the most memorable part of a meal.“

“Shabutime was such a great experience and easily one of the best Japanese hot pot spots I’ve been to so far.
This was my second time ever doing hot pot and my first time trying a Japanese-style hot pot, and it completely changed my perspective. Everything felt very organized and easy to follow, which made the whole experience way more enjoyable.
We ordered the beef toro belly and the seafood combo, which came with a full spread of vegetables. For broths, we went with the yukisaki and spicy Sichuan, and both were really well balanced and flavorful without being overwhelming. We also added vermicelli and udon noodles, which soaked up the broth perfectly.
What stood out to me was how satisfying the meal actually was. I’ve done hot pot before and left feeling like I didn’t really eat enough or get the full experience, but that was not the case here. Everything felt complete and well thought out.
They also have a solid selection of sauces and add-ons, which really let you customize each bite.
Overall, super impressed with the quality, the setup, and how smooth the whole experience was. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to.“

“My wife and I love ramen. And we love coming to this place when we visit from out of town. One of the best ramen we've had. Great flavor and quick service. The service overall is wonderful as well, always nice to hear a couple of Japanese words. The atmosphere is wonderful, works with kids as well. And my server this round was Yoshie, she was great as well as everyone else that proactively helped keep things in tip top shape.“

“Best Kaiseki I've had outside of Japan. Food was high quality, flavorful and well balance between traditional/simple and creative. Their sashimi, grouper Owan, and A5 rice bowl were incredible. The only bad bite I had was the raw scallop (too fishy). On the downsides, the meal starts 30 mins past the appointment time, and took over 3.5 hours due to slow pacing.
Big plus for having a good sake collection at a reasonably fair price.“

“Pretty solid. Quick service. Really attentive. We went when it was a bit slower so it was a little awkward with them hovering by, but I get it. Lots of options the ayce is kind of pricey but if you're coming hungry I think it's worth it. Really appreciate the condiments already being at the table for sauces. Would definitely come back, but maybe for happy hour, for the price discount.“

“Been here several times over the years, not nearly as much as I would like as I don’t live close enough. The food is always excellent, whether it’s the traditional skewers or their rotating more creative bites. And, I’m a sucker for Yaki Onigiri and theirs is excellent. As is the rice bowl side that comes with the perfectly cooked runny egg yolk. These space is a small so definitely recommend reservations during peak hours.
Service is very prompt and friendly.“

“I was surprised by how good these are for the price. For a food stand in the middle of the mall, I didnt know if it was going to be worth trying but the signs look good and overall looked well designed so I gave it a shot. I got the sweet soy salmon and spicy tuna at around $11 total. Good quick snack option while in between shopping or waiting for a restaurant table. You order through a kiosk and someone hands you your order in about 5 minutes.“

“I’d like to call this a hidden gem in the Bay Area! The sashimi is so fresh that it has no fishy smell, and its distinctive chewy texture lingers in your mouth. The various rolls and sushi are neat and clean, but the sashimi rice bowl is a work of art! Unlike other places, the chili sauce has a harmonious balance of acidity, sweetness, and saltiness, making it a sauce that brings all the ingredients together. I also highly recommend the Nagasaki Champon. You’ll understand once you try it! The staff are friendly and skilled, so they prepare everything efficiently without you even asking. The various events are also a plus. You definitely have to visit! Highly recommended!!“

“A little late posting this since my visit was a while ago, but I still remember how much I enjoyed this place
I honestly wasn’t expecting the menu to be that big. It really felt like a proper Japanese izakaya where you can order a little bit of everything, share dishes and enjoy a few drinks without feeling rushed
We tried several things, including the grilled squid and a baked seafood dish, and both were really good. The squid was tender and flavorful, and the baked dish was rich, cheesy and perfect for sharing. There were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try, it was honestly hard to choose lol
We also had a few drinks, which made the whole experience even better. The food, drinks and casual atmosphere all worked really well together
It didn’t feel overly trendy or too polished, just comfortable and very local. Definitely the kind of place I’d come back to with friends, order a bunch of dishes and stay for a while
Really good food, lots of variety and a fun izakaya vibe“

“The shrimp battered onigiri with teriyaki sauce and a mustard tasting leaf sha-la-la on my tongue.
Came home from work and tried this… The presentation threw me off, I’ve only really had seaweed covered onigiri. And I was pretty skeptical of the taste especially because the rice looked drowned in teriyaki sauce (is it teriyaki sauce?). but when that first bite touched all my gustatory cells I was in heaven looking down at earth. The leaf separating the rice and shrimp gives the food so so so much depth. Its sweet and then a bitter and fresh taste.
This was the best surprise after work.“

“Fugetsu is a world wide chain of okonomiyaki. In fact, Rokko/Fugetsu has the first location of Fugetsu in the whole US.
Always a good vibe here and possibly the only place to get okonomiyaki in the Bay Area like they do it in Japan. Huge menu and drink selection with the shared Rokko and Fugetsu menu. I like the okonomiyaki sampler a ton as well. Portions are huge for this dish and everything else on the menu.“

“I never review restaurants but if you are reading this, I’m really hungry right now….and just wanted to share to my food people, that Kyoto Palace Japanese Steakhouse is the best Japanese restaurant I still have ever been to and my favorite restaurant growing up as a kid… #1 miso soup and salad are just never the same anywhere else..the same chef Jose that would make roosters with the scrambled eggs still works there over 20 years later..If I had yelp or seriously reviewed restaurants I would 10/10 them for never changing a single thing about this place. Just sharing for my food friends keep scrolling if you don’t care about this post 🙂“

“We tried the Kimchi Beef with Rice and the Garlic Beef with Rice. Between these two, the Kimchi Beef has a lot more flavor. The kimchi is, however, far too salty. Add the Garlic Shoyu sauce at the table to bring out the Garlic Beef dish. Otherwise, it's relatively plain. The pork katsu with curry sauce was fine, though not remarkable.“

“We had the Kaiseki experience at Hachi Ju Hachi, and it was exceptional. Our table was in a small room next to the kitchen, connected by an open pass-through where Chef Suzuki prepared parts of our meal and engaged with us throughout the evening.
Every course was beautifully presented and delicious. The smoked cod was a standout, even for someone who doesn’t usually enjoy cod. The aged gari, miso soup, and a snapper soup with matsutake mushrooms were all excellent.
Service pacing was perfect, and the whole evening felt calm, thoughtful, and memorable. Highly recommended.“
