“This place is pretty decent. All I really get here are fish and shrimp tacos. And I think those are pretty darn good. If I'm going out on a limb I get a bean and cheese burrito. No fluff, no nonsense, just a burrito to the dome that makes me fart. 🙂 Anyway, I think it serves better food than the other place in Sierra. Madre that's just my opinion. Service is fast and there's some good people working here. So come here eat a fish taco and shut up. Love, me. 🙂😘“

I had ordered four tacos: Masala Birria, Tinga Masala Chicken (by recommendation), Pibil Chicken, and the potato (Mexican potato substitution), along with a side of Mom's Beans and seasoned Cauliflower. I was nodding my head blissfully as I ate everything. The smell of spices and fresh cilantro, the taste of meaty beans and succulent poultry, and pickled onions were wildly satisfying. “I am so happy to discover this little hole in the wall place. I ordered the Chile con puerco. I tasted the epazote and all the 3 types of green Chiles they placed in this delicious green sauce. The texture, color and taste is to perfection. The pork was cooked well where it melts in your mouth. Savory to the last morsel. I rarely like green sauce from restaurants because I know it's straight out of a can. This one is home made!!!! 🥰 I ordered the green pozole to go. I will write a review on it when I taste it. “Heading to Boyle Heights to hangout with friends and my hunnis and I stumbled on this bar. The tacos were really good. They were a little pricey but I like trying new spots. I had a fried shrimp taco & grill shrimp taco. My hunnis got an asada taco and a fried shrimp taco as well. They even made me a virgin margarita. We had to park on the streets which could be a hassle but we were fortunate to get a close up spot. We stopped in there on a Friday afternoon and there wasn’t many folks in there. But it had a cool vibe. We will visit again!“

“I was heading to another bar and wanted to try this place out first. I drank some beers, ate some complementary salsa (the chips were really good!), and watched some sports. The place was pretty packed; the private room was occupied.

The service was great. They were efficient even when it was a packed house.

They have a good size parking lot. You can park in the neighborhood for free also.“

“A gem in the city of Monrovia. It’s in a small plaza next to a laundromat, near a liquor store and across from another taco stand—this taco stand across the way doesn’t serve fish tacos. This place has a good variety on their menu, but the prized item is their fish tacos. Quite tasty and delicious with green or red (for the more spicy palettes) salsa. A good place to stop off for a snack or meal. Great and friendly service, especially from Mario.“

The staff is amazing, greeting you the moment you walk in. Even when they’re busy, they acknowledge you and let you know they’ll be right with you, which is rare these days and so appreciated.

This week I had an experience that really showed me what kind of place this is. I lost my wallet on Tuesday, and when I came back on Friday to retrace my steps, they had kept it safe for me the entire time. Someone had kindly turned it in (including my cash), and the staff made sure it was taken care of until I returned. That kind of honesty and care is priceless, and I can’t express my gratitude enough.

The owner is phenomenal as well—kind, approachable, and genuinely invested in both the business and the community. Between the amazing food, the welcoming staff, and the integrity they show, I couldn’t be more thankful to have El Pilon Market here.
